Re: Owners Approve Deal
Finally it is over. Let FA begin!
|
Re: CBA is done
K so does this mean that all the contract restructuring we done is now void and we could still possibly be over the new cap?
|
Re: CBA is done
Since the deal got done all the restructures are voided so we still are left with about the same ammount of money to spend.
|
Re: CBA is done
i'm pretty sure most of the restructuring was pending the cba so they had it ready for those players to sign so now its gonna be interesting what players will still restructure which wont have to and if they are gonna make restructure to make room for FA plus brunell should be thinking if i get less money they'll b able to get a better WR to catch my passes besides Moss

I believe it is safe to assume our cap number goes down significantly with the new CBA. Being able to prorate bonuses over 6 years(as reported earlier) rather than 4 is a big help. Not sure what that does but I'd be suprised if it didn't save upwards of 5 or 6 million. That plus the obvious relase of Noble, the trade or release of Ramsey, and the release of some other non-essentials will probably put us below the cap without having to restructure. Any newly agreed upon restructures will be used to get us free agency money I imagine. I would also guess that most of the now voided restructures aren't as cap friendly under the new CBA as any newly negotiated restructures would be. |
Re: Owners Approve Deal
I said in one of my posts last week to keep the faith guys, a deal was going to get done. I'HAPPY!!!. I know there are a lot of happy fans around the league tonight but none happier than us Skins fans. Yeah!!!!!!!!!

Re: CBA is done
I'm mainly interested in all the details being worked out so we can see just how much we are under the cap, and how much we'll be able to spend on free agents. We haven't really targeted anyone because of the lack of a CBA. The next few weeks are really going to be interesting. I'm just so happy they finally got a deal done and we can now be business as usual.

Re: Owners Approve Deal
How will Daniel Snyder celebrate? How about signing John Abraham, Randle El, Andre Dyson, and I guess Steve Hutchinson for good measure.
|
Re: Owners Approve Deal
It looks like Snyder didn't cave on the issue of revenue sharing either. Strong work Danny boy.

Hutchinson got franchised my friend. Without a first rounder we can't even sign him. Of course that's under the old CBA so who knows for sure what the new franchise rules are. Tags did say the first two year of franchising stay the same. |
Re: Owners Approve Deal
Oh, I didn't know he got franchished. Doh!
|
Re: Owners Approve Deal
I'd love to have him though.
|
Re: CBA is done
One thing I saw was that in the next couple of years salary proration will only be allowed over 5 years as opposed the 7 under the previous CBA - this will make it harder for teams to give big bonuses as they won't be able to spread it out as much (a minus for teams like the Skins that manipulate the bonuses to get a big "cash over cap" advantage).
I wonder how this will play out over the next few years. |

I thought he was "transitioned" Though I honestly don't really understand the difference. |

<nicholson>Aren't I the asshole?</nicholson> You're right. Under the old CBA Transitioned means they can match whatever offer he gets. Who knows under the new system. |
Re: Owners Approve Deal
I thought he was "transitioned" Though I honestly don't really understand the difference.
Here's a good explanation • An "exclusive" franchise player -- not free to sign with another club -- is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of April 16, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. • If the player is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries of last season at his position, or 120 percent of the player’s previous year’s salary, he becomes a “non-exclusive” franchise player and can negotiate with other clubs. His old club can match a new club's offer, or receive two first-round draft choices if it decides not to match. • A transition player has received a minimum offer of the average of the top 10 salaries of last season at the player's position or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. • A transition player designation gives the club a first-refusal right to match within seven days an offer sheet given to the player by another club after his contract expires. If the club matches, it retains the player. If it does not match, it receives no compensation. Transition players can be signed from March 3 through July 22." |
Re: CBA is done
I think we'll be fine as far as finding ways to manipulate the cap. Kinda sucks that the Redskins and Cowboys won't be the Yankees and Red Sox of the NFL respectively. Think about it, the Cowboys are considered America's team (I don't know about that anymore but lets say they still are for the sake of arguing). The Redskins would become the team everybody loves to hate (especially the networks). The Skins' would be buying all the players and the Cowboys would be right behind them in terms of the largest payroll. However the Cowboys fans along with everybody else would be complaining about how much the Redskins are spending on players. WE WOULD BE THE EVIL EMPIRE. Dan Synder would have become the true reincarnation of George Steinbrener.
However I'm still happy about the CBA. I guess mainly because Gibbs doesn't have a lot of time left and this is the best scenario towards winning now. With the CBA we can now go after Randle El, David Givens, a pass rushing threat, and a new starting Outside Linebacker, as well as use the draft to take the best available player. Plus no salary cap doesn't gurantee we can buy a Super Bowl. Another thing I like about the CBA is that it prevents the Eagles from regaining control of the NFC East. I was actually pretty sure if the CBA wasn't reached the Eagles would have been improving (through FA's) while the other teams were taking a step backwards. With a CBA we can build on last year and hopefully dethrone the G-Men. Anyway thats my rant. |

he will celebrate by jumping up and down like a 10 year old girl |
Re: CBA is done
meh more like players play for the patriots for a reduced contract. im not seeing the eagles being the force they once were. theyll be above average, but winning and super bowl chances are how you get players to stay for less
ex. redskins |

Anyone can make a duplicate thread - it just shouldn't be done. And since the threads were created 70 seconds apart, I don't think the search function would have helped. There are many things a moderator can do, but choose not to - even when the membership is asking for it. ;) |

I was saying that with no CBA the Eagles would have been the only team that could have acquired some quality free agents. At the same time the Redskins would be cutting people and taking a step backwards. With the CBA the Redskins can add even more talent than they had last year and prevent the Eagles from taking over the division. Yes this gives the Eagles even more room but the Redskins don't have as many holes to fill to take themselves to the next level. |
