Re: Lavar to the Giants?

I'm not going to pile on Lavar but it seems like he has made some poor decisions.. Essentially paying to get out of his contract when they wanted to bring him back hasn't worked out the way he wanted it to. I'm sure he expected to go right out and get a Peterson like contract but from what I'm hearing he's getting offered 2-3 year deals with heavy incentives.. Also do you think the fact that he's still represented by the Postons is impacting his contract status? Nobody likes dealing with those clowns and after last time any owner/GM knows that the details of the contract are going to be reviewed to death.

I just wish he would sign somewhere so this drama ends.

LaVar surrounded by drama yet again, what a surprise.

He will sign somewhere, but not for near the money he is looking for. Hopefully some AFC team will put alot of $$ on the table and get him out of our conference.
That really depends, some say its safer than grass while others say its not. And they have been tests done by both parties, and both prove their own point. Basically its not verified.
I read an article were they compaired the injuries from players that play on artifical v/s grass and they said that injuries were about the same on both. I think it was the NFL that did the reserch and they said that they could not draw any conclusions of which was safer. They did note that artificial caused more rug burn type injuries than grass.

The Giants are reluctant to pay Arrington what the Poston's have asked so for the moment this is going nowhere in the Big Apple:

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

When is LaVar gonna wake up and can his agents? Teams simply aren't going to pay top dollar for a LB who's been injured the better part of the last two seasons, clashed with his coaching staff, and has a reputation for being a freelancer.

His best bet is to sign something short-term, show that he can regain his Pro Bowl form, and then cash in with a nice deal.

yeah, this report seems to echoe what a lot have theorized; that lavar (or postons) is asking for too much. He's not removed from their wish list though, there's a good chance his camp will come back w/a reduced offer.
Remember plaxico burress' situation last year? The giants said they were done w/him publicly, then he drops his agent (who was it? I'd like to know) hires rosenhaus & next thing he's got a nice contract as a giant.
the same scenario is actually possible w/lavar, especially since the postons have their hearing w/the nflpa on 4/21. I wonder how their suspension affects business? I imagine it means they can't get new clients but are allowed to represent their current ones.
All this talk of lavar signing w/the giants is another example of how the postons have screwed lavar IMO. I really believe that if it weren't for the postons he'd be signed to play in dc & we wouldn't have this thread. I know that's simplifying things, but my guess is the bulk of it stems from them & the animosity between them & snyder.

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

The common thread mentioned regarding the three (do they have any more?)clients of Les Freres Poston is that in every reported case they ask too much money for their clients, and not incidently, for themselves. We have Woodson at the Bucs, Law at the Hawks as well as Arrington at the Giants all dancing with the train. These guys all want $10 million to change helmets at a time when the big cash faucet has been turned off pending the draft. Of course each of them is scouring the net for information on the other two; as soon as one of the three signs for less than the $10 million that Les Freres told them that they were worth, the two left out in the cold will come down on Kev and Karl screaming bloody murder and maybe add a few chapters to the disbarment hearings coming up soon. At 3% each, that comes out to $900,000 for the agents; do they need to sock away some cash to pay their lawyers and to survive two years of asking "You want fries with that"?

Not to let facts get in the way of your point, but the G-men do have the biggest market in the country. If their games weren't the most watched, that would be pretty sad.

How many people live in the D.C. area? Something like 5 million. How many people live in the NYC area? Something like 20 million. Nuff said.

I almost forgot about that whole Plax deal last year. However what I still don't get is how paying Lavar with the same deal as Julian Peterson is too much. IMO they're at the same level with LaVar getting a slight edge due to more natural talent.

lavar underachieves due to reliance on natural talent that will degrade over time. And he' coming off a masive injury and a benching for a trash player. Julian got too much, so lavar getting the same deal would be way too much.

julian peterson pays more attention to technique and is much more sound. Seattle vastly overpaid (blowing away the next best offer quite handily), so lavar's best option is going to be way less. Just cause the hawks decided to be stupid doesn't mean lavar will get the same luck.

Giants | Team to visit with Arrington again
Thu, 20 Apr 2006 05:47:06 -0700

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) will have a second visit with the New York Giants Thursday, April 20. The team is back in the Arrington chase, and this time it appears Arrington may be serious about striking a deal. Arrington has even agreed to undergo a physical, something he declined to do when he first visited the Giants March 11-12. That's an important concession for Arrington because of league-wide concerns about the health of his surgically repaired right knee. According to Kyle Harden, an associate to Arrington's agents, Arrington intends to sign with someone before the April 29 NFL Draft - possibly even in the next few days. Harden said the Giants are the only team Arrington is planning to visit before the draft. Yesterday, Harden did not give any indication that Arrington's asking price will go down. "The team that gets LaVar is getting a three-time Pro Bowler," he said. "LaVar is looking for a fair-market deal." If Arrington passes the physical, a Giants source said they would be willing to re-open negotiations if his price is reasonable.

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

How about this, let's stop caring about where he goes because no matter where he goes he's going to play he just may end up seeing the Skins. If he does it'll be just like when the Skins play any other team that has one of our former players. Myself I don't give a shiggity because unless he resigns I won't be cheering for his team. If he goes to the Giants then he goes to the Giants. Let him sign somewhere and start talking for us to give him some more attention.

Re: Lavar to the Giants?

I think we got the best years out of Lavar. He will never be as good as he was. Injuries and another new system to learn will limit him, no matter where he goes. Hey, if he goes to the G-men, good for him and I hope he gets a big contract. It will just tie up more of their money on a player that is over the hill.

But as far as Arrington finances are concerend. It's stating to look like he would have been better off taking our offer.
