Ok, I understand your point, but you are still making an assumption that all he did was take harmless supplements. You're willing to believe him, I'm not. So I guess for me, it's not a technicality when you fail a drug test for the 3rd or 4th time. If you believe his story though, (even though whoever he appealed to did not), then I suppose it could be considered a technicality. Of course, that begs the question, why aren't a bunch of other guys getting suspended for the same "harmless supplements".

He won't be going. He has a deal with the fin's and can't go unless they said so. Their GM declared during an interview that they had no intention of letting him go, because it would not benefit him. It wouldn't 'raise his stock' because taems wouldn't be judging him off of his success in the CFL, they would be going off of previous years. He would also risk injury, which would hurt the team as well.

whatever, if he chooses to live his life that way who are we to say he is wrong. I feel ricky would rather smoke up than play football and make money. He tries to do both but he doesn't love football as much as other players do. That is OK. If he was to say that I don't want to play football and just stopped it would be almost respectable that he does what he WANTS to do. Just because he has a great talent doesn't mean he has to take advantage of it. It is still a waste of talent in that sense but so what. Its his talent, his life, and his choice.

Espn or comcast did a special on him a few weeks ago and he seemed the most at peace then than I have ever seen him. He has settled away in a very quiet area teaching yoga, enjoying life with his kid, and he said it'd be nice if he got reinstated but in the end he's happy with his life either way. In a way it's sad because he was extremely talented, but it's also cool to see someone who's had a lot of anxiety issues finally be at peace with their life and not live their life to how everyone else thinks he should be living.

Ricky doesn't need to be playing football anymore. He's had his time in the league, and I really don't think this is what he wants.

He wants to be financially secure, and then chill the hell out. I'm not sure how secure he is financially, but I imagine he's not in terrible shape.

I have NFL Network and they did a thing on him like a month back and I FRIGGIN BELIEVED THE GUY!!! He seemed calmer and more comfortable and WAY more socially ready. Oh, and they said it was weed. Something I read earlier said they werent releasing what it was but, they said it.

Besides, we all knew this was coming anyway. Vick was just holding Ricky's bottle for him...

No way, Ryan Leaf will never live that down. Hes the biggest bust of all time. At least Ricky had 6 productive nfl seasons. I think Leaf played 2 years for the Chargers and then split the last one with the Cowboys and Bucs.

My ex girlfriend is from Grass Valley Ca. where Ricky currently resides. She smoked weed almost everyday before she moved here and according to her it's basically a way of life there. So I'm not surprised this happened at all.

I wonder how many of you guys who call Ricky Williams an idiot,moron,or whatever feel the same way about Barry Sanders and Jim Brown?Who basically made the same decision.That life without football is better than life with football.All three of these guys left a boatload of money on the table so they could live the way that they wanted to.Me, I respect all of these guys decisions.They chose to live life by there rules ,and if you ask me deserve respect not ridicule.

For selfish reasons I wish Barry Sanders hadn't left early. He was awesome to watch and I would have loved to have seen him break the record.

However, unless I'm mistaken, Barry Sanders and Jim Brown came out and said "you know what, I had my fun but I'm done." Just like Robert Smith did. None of them said I'm anxious to play again, can't wait to get out there and then get busted for doing something illegal (again).

If Ricky doesn't want to play in the NFL anymore, if he wants to smoke weed all day and play in the CFL or do yoga in Santa Fe, whatever it is just say it. Stop with the games.

And if he needs help, get it.

Chris Henry has been arrested like 10 times, Pacman Jones is always in legal trouble, Tank Johnson is actually in prison right now. This is getting rediculous, if the guy wants to smoke then leave him the hell alone, hes not hurting anyone, unlike the players i mentioned before.

Ryan leaf never won the rushing title (I guess most passing yards or TD's would be the comparable stat). Ricky was pretty good in New Orleans and great one year with the Dolphins.

Leaf never had any measurable success and is the biggest bust of all time if you go by the Classic Sports list.

I agree. Pacman just got a speeding ticket for 24 over and went to a strip club the night before meeting with the commissioner.

Pacman may be the most unintelligent athlete in the history of pro-sports. What a complete waste.

I realize that some here are more liberal in thinking than I am when it comes to drugs like pot, but is it the drug that is allowing Ricky to be "mellow" and to be content without the NFL, or is it Ricky himself being more "at peace" with smokin' the herb and not being a role model (like it or not, that is what NFL players are.)

What if pot is preventing him from reaching his fullest potential? I'm not talking just in terms of the NFL, but what if his life was meant for something so much more than some guy who teaches yoga and smokes the wacky weed? Isn't that a crime in itself? The worst thing I believe one would have to face is to say at the end of his/her life is "I believe my life was meant for so much more and look what I made of it." That's just me though.
