Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
And by the way, I feel like some of you: damn, I wish we didn't give up another high pick next year. But I can at least take some comfort in justifying that what we have given up (with cap space, player/draft trades) has gotten us some great returns (of investment).
We're looking good for next year's draft as of right now, and our team is on average at a prime age.

Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Looks like a good pick to fill a hole that needed filling. It will be interesting to see if he starts. Greg Williams is not known for starting rookies ie: Taylor.
If he does start that makes a serious statement about how they really feel about Clemmons and Holdman. |

Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
I gave him a B, because of what I have read on the internet and that he filled a need and our original sought after player to fill what appears to be the Weak Side. Also you have to give a plus for what he will add as a guy from the U and Portis weekly skits. That is something all the analyst left out when they evaluated what he brings to our team, nothing about Midweek costumes and his role in topping last years. See what I mean the damn anaylst do not know anything about this team.

Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
McIntosh scored a 31, not a 29, on his wonderlic, the highest score of any of this year's rookie linebackers.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
I think that everyone is looking at this years draft all wrong. We are putting to much on the whole Rocky pick where we need to look at the draft as a whole.
The "Overall" 2006 Washington Redskins Draft: Round 1 - QB - Jason Campbell - Auburn (Denver Trade) Round 2 - OLB - Roger "Rocky" McIntosh - Miami Round 3 - WR - Brandon Lloyd - Illinois (49er Trade) Round 4 - QB - Jason Campbell - Auburn (Denver Trade) Round 5 - DT - Anthony Montgomery - Minnesota Round 6 - SS - Reed Doughty - Northern Colorado Round 6 - OLB - Roger "Rocky" McIntosh - Miami (NY Jets Trade) Round 6 - DT - Kedric Golston - Georgia Round 7 - G - Kili Lefotu - Arizona Round 7 - ILB - Kevin Simon - Tennessee Some may say that we gave up to much for Campbell and McIntosh, but looking at it what are the chances that who ever we would have picked up in the 4th and 6th round would have made the team anyway? Now next years 2nd round pick which essentially is also used for Rocky is another story, but like this year if we have another good year our 2nd round pick could be at the tail end of the 2nd round which would almost be like the begining of the 3rd round. Either way I am glad with the team we have and the draft choices we made. I am looking forward to this season with somewhat high expectations... |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Redskins 8588, you're double-counting Jason Campbell and Rocky McIntosh. Did you go to the Arthur Anderson School of Accounting?
J/K I realize what you were getting at. Good points. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
McIntosh scored a 31, not a 29, on his wonderlic, the highest score of any of this year's rookie linebackers.
Wow, I say make him the QB and Campbell an OLB. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
The problem with giving up so much is the fact that at the time we made the trade 3 OLB's were available Howard, Alston, and Mcintosh, I honestly prefered the first 2 over Rocky, and would have had alston as my first priority, and yes he was available at 53. Rocky may turn out to be a decent LB but he is not going to be a great LB or a pro-bowler, but servicable. I just feel we gave up far to much for a LB of his caliber.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
I don't know if we gave up to much or not. I am sure that everyone listened to Gibbs int re: the draft (on redskins.com). He did not want any of the other guys available at the # 53 slot. He (and Greg) had thoroughly researched the subject and both agreed that Rocky is the man! and the guy they could not afford to risk missing. a difference maker. TOTALLY sound philosophy. I am confident they know what they are doing. Time will tell if they are correct.

Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
The best people to ask if they think McIntosh is worth it are the 'Canes fans that attend/watch every game and are intimately familiar with Rocky's playmaking ability. Versus VA Tech, I thought he was pretty decent but I only have two games that I can call upon to really form an opinion.
As far as Jimmy Williams goes, I for one one am glad we didn't draft him. He has tremendous athletic ability but I can't stand his attitude. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
I gave the selection a B. I like the pickup, basically I like anyone from The U. They all seem to come into the pro's well prepared and make impacts on the teams they are drafted too. I think McIntosh was a great selection for us in terms of need and getting a quality player.
I still dont understand the trade that we made to gain the selection. It just dosent seem like we got the right value in return for that perticular pick. However, we did get a guy that I think the staff wanted, and I trust that they can evaluate the talent better than I can. I didnt see a whole lot of College ball last year. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Backrow posted this earlier in this thread about what we really gave up for him:
Pick #35 550 points Pick #53 370 points That is a difference of 180 points If you value next year's second as a third at the same position you are picking this year that is pick #85 which equals 165 points This year's 6th (189) is 16.8 points We gave up a total of 551.8 draft value points for a pick worth 550 draft value points. That is about as even as you can get and we got a player at a need position for us that can start right away. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Still man its 3 picks to move a few spots that type of moves giving up next year high pics it's killing you it all ready killed you this draft only 1 player in the first day and with huge health concerns granted he fills a need but like last year you sold the farm for him hope his worth it.

The redskins gave up 2 draft choices to move up: (1) next year's 2nd and (2) 6th rounder this year. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
i grade him pwned. thats the highest grade you can get.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Huge health concerns? We drafted a guy with HUGE health concerns? I wish they had done some background checking on his injury status. A physical evaluation during a workout would have been a good idea.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
come on now. you should realize joe gibbs only likes guy who are super smart and fight their guts out.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
T.O. is somebody with HUGE health concerns.............................of the mental variety
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
so is anybody i have sex with. ZING.
but of the std variety. :( |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
I missed the draft this past weekend, so i didn't see McIntosh's highlight reel....does anyone know where I might be able to see some film on him??
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
TO is a little to masculine for my stable. Isn't that right War Emblem???????????

Again... we gave up a total of 551.8 draft value points for a pick worth 550 draft value points. How is that "selling the farm"?? |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
ummm...because I heard someone on a radio/tv show say it?
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
HA. at least the truth comes out. good man.
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
The way I see it our 1st round pick was Jason Campbell, but unlike all the other 1st rounders selected Saturday he's already been with his team for a year. And our 3rd rounder was Brandon Lloyd, but unlike all the other 3rd rounders selected this weekend he's already a proven NFL receiver.
The offseason window to make moves does not begin on the first day of the draft and end on the second. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Anybody have a good resource for finding out how many current players we have on our roster that were drafted by us or any other team in rounds 1 - 3?
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
look up draft history (at redzone or some such) and double check with official team rosters... I know the bengals are really good at keeping people, haven't look at a ton of teams that way though (it takes a long time).

I'm Sorry they gave 3 because you have to ad the 2nd they allready had. Redskins Get 2nd round, No. 35: Roger McIntosh, LB, Miami (Fla.) Jets Get 2nd round, No. 53 (traded) 6th round, No. 189 (traded) 2nd round, 2007 draft |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
Again... we gave up a total of 551.8 draft value points for a pick worth 550 draft value points.
How is that "selling the farm"??
it's not about the points it about the players you can get with your pics 2 second round pics those are player that should start start right away in your team and be the backbone of your team for the next 8 see at this year draft you only had 1 first day pick ..... 1 that's just adding a real first day starter 2 your team the rest are develping players thats a poor draft and next year at this moment you only have 2. |

Also, when we traded a sixth rounder (Ramsey pick up I think) I don't think we gave up that much. I'm sure that the plan is to pick up someone with at least second round talent in free agency next year to make up for the 2nd round loss. It was more important to get a guy we need then it was to wait for the best pick available that we may not need. The way I see it, our roster is stacked pretty good right now. I think our biggest complaint is that we don't have great depth on OL and Corner. I can live with that. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh

Redskins Get 2nd round, No. 35: Roger McIntosh, LB, Miami (Fla.) Jets Get 2nd round, No. 53 (traded) 6th round, No. 189 (traded) 2nd round, 2007 draft
math: 3 picks (given) - 1 pick (received) = 2 picks lost. we gave up 2 picks and used 1, which we would have used anyways if there was no trade. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
if Campbell is your first round this year what was your third pick last year and this years fourth?
|
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
if Campbell is your first round this year what was your third pick last year and this years fourth?
Bottomline is that the Skins have all of their starters locked up for the next 3 years and 19 of 22 are under the age of 30. Yes the draft is important but it's not the end all be all. |
Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
math: 3 picks (given) - 1 pick (received) = 2 picks lost.
we gave up 2 picks and used 1.
God dam really.. let me explain you gave 3 picks and used 1 that you received if you substract the 1 you recevied you don't use anything. let me explains in terms you might understand ok...... If I have a Babe Ruth rookie card and you want it and I say you need to give me your Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle and Pete Rose cards for me to give you my Babe Ruth 1. How many card you need to give me?...................... 3 yeahhhhhh and how many card I'm going to give you? 1 ok thats math. |

Agreed but its the base of the future. See all championship teams they make good draft moves and pics and they usually have a lot of pics each year and is rare thay give future draft pics to move up wich is also rare see NE how they picked C.Jakson, or Philly or Denver none gave next year draft picks to move up and if they do they're usually second day late pics they know that. because it usually bites you in the ass see Buffalo they gave us a 1st round pick to move up and draft JP Losman 2 years ago we drafted JJ,Spears and Eventually D.Bledsoe because they fired him because they need to start JP because of the money invested. Now it seem JP is a bust they want to trade and have nothing to show for we have 3 starters that simple. |

Re: Grade Rocky McIntosh
3 starters for JP Losman? Spears is a definite starter that will contribute, no argument there. JJ can't stay on the field long enough to gain Parcells confidence. And Bledsoe? Bledsoe? Bledsoe stepped out of the shower this morning and got sacked again by Phillip Daniels. During his time with Dallas has he led the team to the promised land? No, he throws it to the other team late in the fourth so they can score the game winning TD.
