Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
They are retarded. He was by far the best thing they had on offense. He had more than double the yardage receiving than any other player on his team. I looked this up months ago but there were only 4 players who did that last year and 3 of them had been in the pro bowl during the last 2 years, all except Lloyd. He did an amazing job with the opportunity he was given. I don't know what more he could do with the cast he had around him.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
bryant has had better production than lloyd to this point. but the seperation between them isn't that great.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
First step to the playoffs is winning the division. With that in mind it was an extremely intelligent move on behalf of the Redskins to pursue B.Lloyd.
In 2005, Lloyd tore up Dallas for 142 yards in week 3 against none other than Anthony Henry. This had to be on the minds of the Redskins personnel staff when the went looking for Lloyd, and was probably a contributing factor. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I love how the article states that Bryant wasn't the best WR on the market. Not with Jurevicious and Randle El available. I think they are saying Randle El is potentially a better #1 WR, which must mean that the Redskins have two #1 receivers. YAY!
Of course, that's the author's opinion. I think Randle El is at best a #2 but still the article actually makes us look good. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Some haters in SF think Lloyd is overrated:
[I]Already, he is a big step ahead of Brandon Lloyd, whom the 49ers traded to Washington. Lloyd's new employers will soon discover that they have a No. 3 receiver who thinks he is a No. 1, who delivers one sensational play every game or so and does very little else.
They are obviously unfamiliar with Taylor Jacobs and Jimmy Farris.
yeah... one amazing play per game is only about 9 more than we got out of our #2/#3/#4/#5 combined over the entire span of the last 9 games. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
It continues to amaze me that every time we sign a player someone, somewhere always has something negative to say about them. "Overated" we haven't even had a chance to rate him yet, how can he be overated? I chose not to dwell on the negatives, and as far as him being a #1 #2, or #3 receiver dosen't matter, all I want him to do is catch the ball when it't thrown to him, make plays when they're there and be a productive receiver. His numbers will dictate whether he's one, two or three.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
how pathetic it is to be an SF fan right now. To spend the off season trying to convince yourself that antonio bryant is the answer.
If you can convince yourself that Mike Nolan is the answer, I guess anything is possible! |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
LLoyd has abilty and we have the perfect coach in Saunders to extract that ability, the fact that LLoyd was able to do anything in that pathetic 9ers offense is remarkable 1 catch a game is a monster when you consider who the QB and the coach are.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I can't believe the Redskins were duped into thinking they had gotten a #1 receiver by trading for Lloyd. It's nice to have top notch investigative reporting clue us fools in to these diabolical scams such as this. I guess we can always settle with the memory of 52 point blowout against the 49ers.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I dont think Jimmy Farris or Taylor Jacobs acts as if they're a #1.
Anyhow, I'm not sold on Saunders getting production out of WRs. I think he gets great production from his O Line, RB, and TE. I still question what he can do with the QB and WR positions. Granted he hasn't exactly had the best receivers or QBs to work with, but Im curious. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Yeah, and Santana Moss was a no. 3 receiver who thought he could be no. 1, too. How did that work out? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but all this stuff is settled on the field.
She says Antonio Bryant is better than Lloyd, but not as good as Randle-El - who is also on the Redskin roster. I think Lloyd and Randle-El are both great additions. We mostly need them to just get open and catch the ball consistently. Anything else is a bonus. There are deeper issues with the 49ers. Like, how come no real Bill Walsh disciple is coaching in the birthplace of the west coast offense? Why did they trade an ok QB with NFL experience (Tim Rattay) to start a rookie? Where's the running game and defense on this team? In head2head games with Arizona, coached by Walsh disciple Dennis Green (who probably should be coaching the Niners), who wins the series? |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I dont think Jimmy Farris or Taylor Jacobs acts as if they're a #1.
That could be part of Jacobs' problem. Speaking purely from a self-confidence point of view, it's widely known that in order to compete in this league, every player has to look at himself like he's #1. If people in San Fransisco think Lloyd is a #3 at best, and as That Guy pointed out, gives us just one spectacular play per game, that's still better than the two aforementioned bozos who lined up for us after Patten and Thrash were lost to injuries. |

moss did have a better track record and an 1100 yard season beforehand though... and he was definately a #2, not a #3 for a lot of his time in NY. though gardner also had a 1000 season and proceeded to do jack after he left, so i guess it works both ways. gibbs and williams have shown lots of big hits on talent (washington, griffin, springs, taylor, cooley, moss, portis) and no real misses (barrow, noble, fiore etc were all paid like major injury risks and jason campbell hasn't proved himself one way or the other yet). Anyways, like i was saying, gibbs and williams are good talent evaluators right now, so i'll trust them. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Do you think Alex Smith is happy that he got VD in San Fransico?
San Fran will be looking in the draft next year for there number reciever b/c V Davis is going to be their workhorse, Bryant will catch 35 passes thats all. |

yeah, but gibbs chose not to cut him when it looked like his career was already over. most people had just assumed he was gone. |

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
didn't we hear the same crap about Santana???
IMO, uis all about getting the opportunity to make plays, and in Al Saunders offense, I'm sure Lloyd will get his opportunities. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
People out in San Fran must be blind to the fact that in the 2005 season alone Lloyd had to catch balls from 4 different QB's (Alex Smith, Tim Rattay, Ken Dorsey and Cody Pickett) http://www.nfl.com/teams/stats/SF. And 3 different QB's the year prior...
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
San Fran has been a half-assed organization for the past few years, no wonder they got half-assed efforts from their players. I think that Lloyd will be forced to work harder and keep his concentration here.
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Reports are that VD in San Fran is a real burner
|
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
His highlight reel showed me a tough guy who can make things happen. With a line that can givee the quarteback some time to read his recievers, Lloyd will be a big threat to add to Moss, Randel El and Cooley. Somebody is going to be open a whole bunch this year. Just gotta give Brunell or Campbell time.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Anyone who can do this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da1et8Z23mc&search=brandon%20lloyd Is one hell of a football player in my book. This one is good too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn59E361XB4&search=brandon%20lloyd I know highlight reels only show the good stuff, but DAMN this guy can make some amazing grabs. We're not just talking highlights of QBs throwing a nice long pass that hit him square on, we're talking freaking AMAZING one handed, atheletic catches. This dude just makes things happen. |
Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
He does do a great job adjusting to the pass; a trait shared with fellow teammate Santana Moss. Just think of next years highlight videos. You'll have use "Hey, Jude" or In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" in order to fit one song to all of the highlight plays.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I had a dream that Lloyd had a monster year this year. It's always better to have a #3 WR with the midset of a #!, than have a #1 or 2 with the midset of a #3 (see Jacobs).

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
Reports are that VD in San Fran is a real burner
Ouch. But we're not comparing Vernon Davis to Lloyd are we? Keep Davis is the TE category.

Re: B. Lloyd Overrated?
I think this writer did a very good job. For those of you who don't think so, put yourself in her place. How would you convince the 49er faithful that they have any chance whatsoever this year? She doesn't hate us. She just has to find some BS and hope it sticks to the wall.
Just be glad you don't have her job! |
