Yeah, I'm SO SO SO sick of the Cowboy's defense love affair too. Every time I hear them talk about them, they're like "The Cowboys have an elite young defense." Last I checked the Skins were ahead of them in defense last year.

I agree, but they key is Mark Brunell [B][I]healthy[/I][/B]. As soon as he gets banged up, he plays like ass. If happened for all of 2004 and towards the end of 2005. If he can remain healthy, he should be able to perform pretty well with the weapons around him this season.

I think it is more McNabb> Mark Brunell healthy > Bledsoe > Eli. Eli flat out sucked the last few games of the season and their blowout loss to the Panthers. As far as I know he didn't lose any lineman or have any documented injury during that time. His TD pass against us in the second game was due to Plaxico tipping the ball up and Toomer making a lucky dive in the end zone.

Yeah, except for that whole broken finger on the throwing hand, thing. Hopefully the staff won't try to rush him back too quickly, and hopefully Brunell is smart enough to sit if it's still bugging him.

We always hear so much about how Brunell sucks when he's injured. This saying seems to be getting a little overused if you ask me.

What QB doesn't stink when he's hurt??

McNabb wasn't very effective last year playing hurt. Pennington was throwing lollipops with a bum shoulder. Those are just two examples I can think of. Typically, if a guy is playing hurt regardless of position, their effectiveness isn't going to be what it is when they are healthy.

As a QB I don't care who it is, a bad knee or hammy is going to have an effect.

That's my point, exactly. The reason why the health issue comes up with Brunell is because he's been injured two out of the last three seasons, and barely made it through last season in one piece.

At 35, it's obviously going to be harder for him to play with, and recover from injuries.

Brett Favre is the only QB that comes to mind who doesn't completely suck when he is playing injured...I wish we had him instead of Brunell. :)

our current rankings:
QB: 18
RB: 5
WR: 6
Pass D: 4
Run D: 6


looks good (and accurate) to me. I had us 7th at WR, and 4-6 in RB (do you want to count denver's system? etc)

I think our run D will be better than 6 this year, but last year holdman let a ton of 40+ yarders run by him, so it messed up the averages. Pass D seems about right, we've got 4 solid starters at DB and the DL has 2 studs and 2 average+ players. The bears and bucs have pass D systems though, and deserve the #1 and #2 spots (our D is based more on run blitzing).

mcnair has played alright hurt... brady seems like he might be able to, but no QB is going to be 100% and there's a huge swath of injuries you can have to be considered 'hurt' some of which just aren't as bad.

I don't believe favre plays well hurt though, and he plays terribly when he tries to carry a bad team.

McNair was the first QB that came to mind for me too.

I think the people that say Brunell stinks when he's hurt mean that he's particularly ineffective when he's hurt, even moreso than many QBs in the league.

Also, I thought we were ranked #2 in pass def, That Guy. When you said they had us at #4, was that the fan voting?

yeah, fan voting. in 2005 we were #10 in pass D. but Green Bay was #1 causse no one NEEDED to pass on them, though they did give up 22 TDs. (chicago gave up 10 pass TDs, wash/tampa/pitts/car all gave up 15).

That's funny, they were really ranked #1 because their run D was so bad? That's pretty miserable.

Does anyone know where we ranked in run D on ESPN?

The way I see it, the ESPN UDC rating has us as tied for the second best team in the league right now.

If point totals are given corresponding to each rating, the Panthers are tops with 21 points (4+9+7+1). The Seahawks and the Redskins each have 25.

In our division, the Giants have 39, the Cowboys have 60, and the Eagles are at 83 points.

These totals are all pending the "Run defense ranking".

they ranked us at 14th I believe which I believe is off by about 4 or so. the viewer ranking had the skins ranked 6th. It's just hard to argue against the success Williams and company had last year with the platoon of Skins
d-lineman and our incredibly solid and reliable lbs and now they added some depth to that rotation with a couple of the teams 2nd day picks and Carter. I thought they'd atleast be around 8-10 but atleast @14 they were ranked the highest in the division.

the sportscenter rankings are great tho.....RB:6 WR:3 PD:2 the only bad ranking is QB:14.....and thats expected.....what do you guys think about that bs article that the nfc east is a two team show...'Boys/Eagles........the only thing the eagles have on their side is an easy sched.....
