Loyalty with players and teams does not exist anymore.

Bottom line, I think we have a unbelievable chance to do something special this year, and LaVar is hurt that he isn't a part of it. I think it will work out the best for both sides that he is gone. no more drama all season of is he playing, why isn't he playing. did he miss that or that. We ALL need to move the hell on![/quote]

I was over him the second the Skins released him. He's overrated and not worth the money. It was one of the smartest moves we ever made. Let the Giants deal with his emotional outbursts.

i think the facts are that lavar was a loveable, face of the redskins that NEVER lived up to all the hype. every season i would think this is the year he breaks out into something short of lawrence taylor/ray lewis, and it just never happened. in the tampa playoff game, after intercepting that tipped pass, he ran like he had a wooden leg. still looks like it hasnt healed properly. for a man that was suppose to love everything about the washington redskin, he sure talks alot of shit about them

If you guys are pissed now, just wait until Lavar has 2 weeks to talk about the Skins before the October 8th game in New York. I guarantee he will be on someones Pre-Game show talking trash. I'm going to love it, his sulking off the field after a Skins victory will be beautiful. I wish him the best but as a Fan of the Washington Redskins I must say Fuck Lavar ! I'm seriously tired of this shit because the man cried about the coaches telling him to do this and that. How he hasn't felt good about playing football for years now. I think there is a qualitative difference between the player's the team has let go in the pre-Gibbs era versus the present. There's no question that letting players like Stephen Davis and Brad Johnson go was a mistake at the time, but it was part of a larger culture of mismanagement that was responsible for us losing all those years. However, the players we have let go over the past 3 offseasons - Champ, Smoot, Pierce - have all been sound decisions in retrospect. Where before we let good players go to replace them with older overpaid freeagents, recently we have not shelled out money for players like the aforementioned when we knew that we could reasonably replace them for cheaper. Does anyone doubt that after this year we'll count Lavar in the second group? I went to school with him and like him, but he didn't fit into the new identity of the team.

The reason LA speaks highly of Marty is because when he was here Marty's sone Curt was the D coordinator and let LA do whatever he wanted and LA loved that.

Marty deserved a fair run at building the team, but no sense in crying over it now.

If back then you would have given me the choice of sticking it out with Marty, or canning him and having two god-awful seasons with Spurrier IF it meant Gibbs would come back, I would gladly take those two disasterous seasons with Spurrier all over again.

I remember hearing Arrington on the John Thompson show right after the Seattle loss, and he said that they were building something special in Washington and that he hoped he could be a part of it.....that he would even be willing to take a paycut to stay. So this is garbage. Lavar, you are officially dead to me.

You all and me as well have our own opinions about people when and why they leave the organization. The thing that kills me is its ok for an organiztion to cut a guy, but people get all bent out of shape when they leave for a better deal. Teams cut players to benifit themselves as far as money goes, so why do people get so pissed off when a player accepts a better deal financially. Especially when they are 28 to 29 years old and its probably the last pay day they are going to get. At least the last one of any significance. Its a business. I was pissed when they let him go, when they didn't come to an agreement as to what was fair for him and for the team. But, this is what happens in todays NFL. You cant expect a guy to accept 4 million a year, when they can get 7 or 8 million. None of us would. that would be the most rediculous thing ever. There were things like playing time that played a role in him leaving as well. He knew he probably wasn't going to play as much as he felt he should. Other teams were telling him he was an everydown player. As a professional athelete you want to compete every single play. He know his relationship with Danny, and the staff was straighned to say the least. Why are professional athletes considered unloyal or pieces of shit if they leave. Tell me that if your company was low balling you by 100k and another company was willing to pay you what you felt you were worth, are you going to stay. I think NOT! Money is the mover, motivator, the talker for everything and everyone. Cant we just forget about the crap and start thinking of who is going to be playing there instead of the person that used to play there. so he put it behind him, doesn't everyone.

I knew there was going to come a time when we would see this side of LaVar, that's why his comments do not suprise me in the least. All that talk in times gone by about how much he loved the Redskins, the fans, and the City was all a crock of. I could see through all the bull when I first heard it, and he ceased to be of concern when he started running his mouth. When he's done in N.Y. he'll bad mouth them too.

I dont know if that would be a psychological motivation for him or not by throwing them at him- though funny and fitting. I think we should start a fire in the parking lot burning every jersey we have of him. I think it would send a louder message that before he is even in the building, that we are dessecrating his legacy. But I have already come to terms, back is turned, and that chapter has been already been closed.

This is hilarious post I looked at on Giants website, after all this uproar about Arrington I had to go see what was going on with him the first day of training camp, he is always going to be a whiner. Merril Hoge should not have to apoligize for being an analyst and saying what everyone else is saying about Lavar. Lavar it is just not a few people who think you are overrated and undiscliplined in schemes. Oh it most be the Postons giving him good insight and saying everyone else is wrong. It's all personal with Lavar no matter the situation it is always poor Lavar. How many other ex-player analyst are going to have to call Arrington this year and apologize because he knows them?

The problem is that no one buys season tickets to watch Lavar Arrington. You buy tickets to cheer the franchise. How much f-ing money did Lavar make for the last two years in which he didn't do sh!t except beat up on San Francisco and let Frank Gore run 80 yards. Why can't he shut his mouth?

Lavar's legacy is that he talks a big game and looks the part of a superstar. At the end of the day he is a loser. Greg Williams has no place for losers on that defense.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Watching the Giants players move into their new living quarters here at the University at Albany, you see a wide array of vehicles. Of course you have your SUV’s—mostly Escalades and pickups—convenient for moving a month’s worth of clothing and accessories up from the Tri-State area. There are also the expected sports cars—Mercedes Benzes, BMW’s and the like. Michael Jennings did his best to attract attention by showing off his green ‘95 Chevrolet Caprice, outfitted with 26-inch rims on wheels that raise the car about three feet off the ground.

Then there was Lavar Arrington, turning heads by riding up to his dorm this morning on a Segway.

“I have 48 acres at my home in Annapolis,” said Arrington. “So when I’m feeding my dogs and different things like that, instead of walking back and forth the whole time, you jump on that. Or when I go down to the dock. I crab a lot. I like crabbing.”

So if you come up to Albany in the next month to watch the Giants practice, don’t be surprised to see Arrington riding around campus on two wheels.

“If I can’t get a ride, if I need some early attention to my body or anything like that, I’ll probably just jump on that,” he said. “I just don’t want to use any gas.”

And while the rest of Arrington’s teammates will be paying over three dollars a gallon to drive back and forth from the practice field, the environmentally and fiscally conservative Arrington will be plugging his Segway into the wall every night.

“I don’t want to concern myself with trying to get to a gas station when I can plug in,” he said. “I value the dollar. I really do. If I don’t have to go fill up on gas, if I can’t hitch a ride, I’ll just jump on my little (Segway).”

The only question that remains is what Coach Coughlin had to say about Arrington’s new piece of technology.

“He already saw it,” said Arrington. “We already talked.”

As long as he avoids any deer-something his teammate Sam Madison wasn’t able to do on his drive up to training camp.

“He hit a deer,” Arrington said of Madison, who, riding with teammate Gibril Wilson, apparently collided with a small deer while driving on I-87 last night. “I don’t think I’ll be moving fast enough for me or the deer to be in any kind of danger. One of us has got a problem if we do collide.”

Madison and Wilson drove off unscathed. The same can’t be said of Madison’s car. Barring any more deer incidents, Arrington anticipates his tenure with the Giants will be relatively problem free. He expects to make an impact on the field and become an important element in coach Tim Lewis’ defensive schemes.

“I don’t want to be a focal point, I just want to be a part and fit in the way I need to fit in,” he said. “I think with the personnel that we have, there are so many good players, there’s great talent. And I’m just excited to be a part of that. That’s what I’m excited about. Not being a focal point, just making this defense a focal point.”

Nevertheless, Arrington—with his Segway and his personality—is already making his presence felt here at training camp. As well as in his dorm room.

“I needed a lot of smell-good stuff. I got some Fabreeze for the couches, just in case we do some lounging, 'cause there’s more than one of us in the room. I got some Glade candles. They’re working pretty good. The smell is starting to take over now. Then I got one of those things that spray on a timer. You don’t have to plug them in, they’re on battery. They’re battery powered and (spray) every half-hour, 18 minutes. What a world of difference.”

Arrington hasn’t yet spoken to his roommates, Brandon Short and Jay Feely, but he hopes they’ll appreciate his contributions to their new living quarters.

“Brandon is a bachelor, so he might not care either way,” said Arrington. “But I’m sure he’ll enjoy it by week two or something. Jay, he’s a married guy like me, so I think he’ll enjoy it. Gives a little bit of a softer feel. I might grab some flowers on the way back from practice; put them in a vase or something.”

Flowers. Scented candles. A Segway. Is this the mark of a ferocious linebacker? Or are we just witnessing a changed man in Lavar Arrington?

“This is the best I’ve felt emotionally in a long time,” he said. “Just being in the right state of mind to play football, and to build camaraderie with my teammates and my coaches. I’m excited about it. That’s something I haven’t felt in quite a while. So this is good. It’s a new beginning, a rebirth, and I plan to make the most of it.”

I was just a little sad (note the sarcasim) to see him go!! But not only do I still have to put up with him twice a year, but my fiance (wife as of Aug. 19) is a freaking GIANTS fan!!! I have tried to convert her but she isn't commin around yet! Well that should be good for my first post!

I agree 100%. I was a big Arrington supporter but he never seemed to fit into Greg Williams schemes. He plays as an individual and not a team player. I loved him from the time he knocked out Aikman but he overstayed his welcome. I hope cp runs over him and his big mouth

I am in the same boat as you. My girlfriend is a Giants fan as well. She has this ugly Giants blanket, I cant stand that thing. I tried to trash it but she found it again :rofl:

COUGHLIN ALREADY UNHAPPY WITH ARRINGTON'S TALKING

A league source tells us that Giants coach Tom Coughlin isn't pleased with the decision of linebacker LaVar Arrington to sound off on the day the team reported for training camp regarding a variety of actual and/or perceived slights from his old team and members of the media.

"People want to hate on the Giants," Arrington said Thursday during his hour-long bitch session. "I've heard negative statements about Eli [Manning], about the defense. 'Who's going to be the biggest flop this year?' They say the Giants. They hate us. They really hate on the Giants. I guess it's a great situation because people have always hated on me."

(Actually, we think the Giants will be just fine this year. Until the playoffs.)

Regardless, Coughlin doesn't like the kind of chatter in which Arrington engaged, and it remains to be seen whether Coughlin has politely advised his biggest offseason acquisition to shut the hell up.

Our guess? If Arrington passes on the opportunity to spout off some more the next time a bank of microphones is stuck in his face, it means that the Soup Nazi has told LaVar that he'll get no crab bisque if he continues to complain about the lack of bread.

lol.........I'll be booing LA on Dec. 30 thats for sure. I never knew LA was such a great GM. To bad he's gone.

He's just pissed that he got let go before Joe Gibbs returns us to the Superbowl. Good Riddins and I wish many lack luster plays from LA for the giants.

I'm happy to put the Arrington Soap Opera in the past. He was fun to watch and was a great interview while he was here but Williams proved that he can have a great defense without Arrington and hee just isn't a Gibbs kind of guy.

If your giving me a choice between Joe Gibbs and LeVar Arrington it's a no brainer and if LA didn't know that going in he's not very sharpe. Arrington seemed to think he was bigger than the Redskins...he's not...the great Joe Gibbs doesn't even believe he's bigger than the Skin's and he's in the HOF.
