Fielders that are better that Ramsey:

1). Jay

2). Prince

3). Cecil

4). Left, Center and Right

Have you ever seen the guy play in person? He's a joke, Miami won games on the back of Ricky Williams period.

He's so good they bought in AJ Feeley, Feeley had the best win loss record of them all, talk about a horrible QB, stats are many times meaningless in determaining a players ability, circumstances often dictate a players success's and failures. Trent Dilfer anyone?

I will say though that in his prime Cecil "Fielder" was probably a better QB than Jay "Fiedler" lol

That's a very compelling argument....except how do you explain that the Dolphins were 11-5 in 2000 and 2001 (something they hadn't done since 1992, and haven't done since), with Jay Fiedler starting at QB and before Ricky Williams got there?

Don't worry, there's always an excuse when it comes to defending Patrick 'Montana' Ramsey. You have to throw all stats right out the window, they're completely meaningless. It's what's in the mind of a football man that matters. And no I'm not talking about Gibbs or anyone on the Jets coaching staff either. Everyone is still missing the boat on this guy. We'll all see someday...

In 2000, they had the 27th (out of 31) best offense and the 6th best defense

In 2001, they had the 24th (out of 31) best offense and the 5th best defense

Fiedler really carried that team...

I'm not even trying to say the Ramsey is good...im saying Fiedler isn't

Have you seen Ramsey play? He is a JOKE. All of the games I have seen him play, he never ever seems to comfortable. Talking about circumstances, Ramsey had top 5 defenses supporting him when he was playing, the defense did their part to help us win, he just couldn't do the rest. He has been tried and tested, and he just isnt enough. That is why we need to move on from Ramsey. We need to think about our future, and as of now it is Campbell. Ramsey barely even cuts up to being a backup, and our team needs Campbell in, maybe even losing, but getting a chance to get some regular season action.

At least that's an argument that has something to back it up. That I can respect. But for someone to say that Ricky Williams carried a team he didn't even play for...well to say that, you must be smoking what Ricky is.

I can't believe we're all arguing over two QBs who don't even play for us. All I was trying to say when I mentioned Fiedler was that I'd rather have him as a 3rd string, never going to play QB than Todd Collins. Who would have thought it would cause all this?

Good point, but kinda like what I was saying before the Skins had a good D with Ramsey as the starter as well, but he struggled to win.
So the guy has one of the best accuracy ratings in SEC history and quite obviously knows how to play football so why are so many people thinking he might not pan out? He is a proven accurate passer. Accuracy is not going to be his downfall. It's all about making that adjustment to a much quicker read. It's very hard to do. He just needs some time and seasoning. Take it easy people.
No first round quarterback ever had a shitty passing career in college, yet somewhere close to half don't pan out. So theres no guarentee Campbells success in college will translate.

That said, I feel much better with Campbell as a NFL QB than the person that went one spot ahead of him, Aaron Rodgers.

Tried and tested? Say what you want about the guy but where has he been tried other than SS and his no blocking offense? Ramsey got a raw deal if anyone thinks Gibbs wasen't trying to force Brunell down everbodies throat because he just had to have him and overpaid him beyond belief, besides rendering a #2 draft pick for a player who was about to be released is only kidding themselves. Ramsey was doomed from the start under Gibbs.

2 seasons under SS, then 2 seasons with Gibbs coming out of retirement trying to relive his offensive past while treating Ramsey like he was a red headed step child is not a fair opportunity for Ramsey.

Funny, Ramsey was the apple of most of these guy's eye's at the end of the 2004 season who are now bashing him, so in 1 quarter of the first game of the year against the best defense in the league Ramsey is no longer any good? He threw for more yards in 1 quarter than Brunell did the rest of the game, Gibbs was looking for any excuse whatsoever to yank the kid and keep his promise to Brunell, Gibbs was more anctious to make that change than Richard Steal was to stop the Meldrick Taylor, Julio ceasar chavez fight years back [for all you fight fans out there].

Gibbs himself has admitted he was unable to adjust his offense to the modern defenses that's why Saunders is here, but for the last 2 seasons it's been Gibbs inability to outsmart the defenses. I have stated all along that although I believe Ramsey was the man for the job because he outplayed Brunell under the same or worse conditions, that I never believed that Brunell was as bad as he was made to look in 2004, as well as in many games last season, it was more to do with Gibbs simplistic offensive approach. Let's face it it was Gibbs who named Ramsey the starter after the 2004 season, and Ramsey earned it. To bad Gibbs didn't stick with Ramsey like he did Brunell the previous season when Brunell played about as bad as A QB can play, whether or not Ramsey could lead us to the big one will probably never be known, but this much is, Gibbs was never in his corner and he never treated him with the same fairness, and opportunity that he bestowed on his beloved Brunell!

Who knows what Ramsey will do with the Jets there situation is so uncertain with a first time head coach, along with the toe, and who knows who else to throw to, who knows how things will pan out for him, but I do know this Moss is a Skin because Pennington couldn't reach him with that rag arm of his.

Anyone who thinks this guy Collins is a better fit at backup than Ramsey is crazy, we all know Brunell was starting this year but if he gets hurt Ramsey I believe would still have been our best option for this season, I don't like the trade.

Funny thing about the Fiedler, Ramsey comparison, Miami offered a #2 pick for Ramsey to replace Fiedler as thier QB, obviously Miami thought Ramsey was better, unfortuntly Gibbs kept this apparent loser so he could trade him for a 6th round pick later on, what a deal. Seems to me according to all these Ramsey bashers that we could have replaced him with just about anyone, I am surprised Gibbs didn't pick up on that, We could have used that #2 to get Campbell and saved a #1.

Oh really so as I sat in Giants stadium and watched Ricky run over the Jets with Fiedler throwing the ball like a shotput I was somehow incoherent? pretty Funny nice job as usual.

Don't worry Tafkas I know your not smoking anything it just comes natural.

I didn't say they never played on the same team. All I said was that in 2000 and 2001 with Fiedler at QB and Ricky playing for the Saints, the Dolphins finished 11-5 each year. They never finished with as good a record since Ricky joined them.

Lamar Smith was their leading rusher in 2000/2001, so you are correct that was pre-Ricky.

It must be football season if we've got a six page thread arguing about Patrick "I Play for the Jets guys" Ramsey over Jay "Um am I still in the league" Fiedler. I'll take neither, please and thank you, and while I'm at it can I pay anyone to take Todd Collins? Wait, Todd Collins? The Todd Collins who was lofting those tds to Desmond Howard? We've completed the circle!

Sorry, I was hanging out with Ricky. Can't wait to see what Campbell does in the game Sunday.

This thread is seriously mind boggling. One year removed and Ramsey is still the answer. Completely mind boggling.

JC didn't look that bad. The two completions he had were great throws. He needs more reps against opposer's starting defenses

Anybody read today's Washington Post article praising Todd Collins? With a somewhat cynical eye towards on the slippery relationship between the Post and Dan Snyder, this seems to be saying that Jason Campbell was drafted before the Kansas City crowd arrived and perhaps would not have been the choice of our new Offensive Coordinator if he were here a year ago? The Post just can't resist a slap at Dan even well discuised.
How does a 6th round pick for a young veteran QB ever blow up in your face?
When the "young veteran" doesn't make the team - which, according to all reports, is not an unlikely scenario up in J-E-T-S land.

I really liked PR - but it is pretty clear that he just doesn't have "it". Hell, the Jets' coaches are apparently pulling him out of practice for being too slow to get the plays off.

I can't say I got the same impression....on another note, I'd like to apologize for my contribution to this Ramsey-Fiedler debate with my seemingly innocuous (sp?) comment that Fiedler is a QB I would have preferred we went after to be our 3rd stringer.
