Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Remember, the 2nd teams are never going to be playing each other in a real game. We need depth, but I think we have it. We won't need 11 non-starters on either side of the ball for depth. 1-2 per position will do and I think we have that.

HELL no. It doesn't change how I feel about the Skins. I just have a feeling that things are going to explode on opening day. Our D ROCKS and as soon as we get out there and start really playing things are going to just take off. I am NOT worried, at all. Not one bit. |

Depth is an issue. I don’t question Gibbs’ strategy of building in free agency, but over the years we’ve given up a lot of draft picks and the late round picks we’ve gotten have for the most part not become contributors (yet). On the other hand, if Molinaro & Wilson from the 2004 draft were good enough to start somewhere, then maybe I would view our draft strategy differently. Teams that have solid depth, e.g. pats & eagles, have done so w/mid rnd. draft picks. |

that's it... our season is over... when's the next draft?

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
I am the 2% worried. But still 98% confident.
What precursors our first team defense displayed towards the good times ahead. DB-Depth I think scares me that by default Ade is our 3rd CB. Coverage among those guys really looks suspect at the moment. Improvement is needed. Collins is supposed to be the love child of Al's making. None of the QB's looked like they knew where the dump offs were. Collins looked timid and may have wet himself. I have all the faith Brunell still has gas in the tank and is capable of running the offense giving everyone the Ooh's and Aahh's we demand. Portis will return and set out towards his goals. The reciever tandems will up our 3rd Down % and put up maybe an extra 10-15 pts a game b/c I see the Defense smothering and running teams off the field quite fast. The downside is that the season/playoffs is a long road ahead. Is this team built to last and are the demanded areas that need sustaining and rotation through injuries going to fill in? Game 1 preseason did not answer much and I was left blue balled till next week. I will say who did answer their own questions were the Cowboys. Week 2 better bring about answers and not leave trivial talk afterwards. I still have a 3 year window to go pro and I did a few pushups last week, just wanted to put that out there, I can shutdown the Chad Johnson's, is all Im gonna say. |

What ?? Your supposed to read/ react?? Learn from mistakes?? Thats crazy talk. What do they call that ......oh defending. He must be hating the lockerroom today. Hes got 3 more weeks before I take his job. |

Actually, that was Doughtry. Wright moved into the #2 corner position and Doughtry was the safety. |

Oh God dont get me started on that P.O.S. Too Late. They made the worst tandem last nite. Bum ass KennyW losing coverage and trusting in Tweedle Dee back there in Reed. At least this is good evaluation, if they werent picked on or out there maybe this F-up performance will prevent their responsibilty in the future when it matters. Reed- Bum ass dude. Without speed you cant sit and watch stay ahead of the play. Rule number to being a safety is keep everyone in front of you. He had 1 guy to worry about and you know what happened. He's not a safety the title implies meaning he is a "Liability" |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
This loss hasn't changed my outlook on the season, but if Portis is out for a longer time than expected, or if his play is hampered in anyway from this injury, then that might change my outlook. Even though we have a more than capable backup in Ladell Betts, he would have to stay healthy throughout the season.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
If CP has lingering affects it will just be time to hang it out there to our WR core. Brunell set a career high last year with 23 TD's maybe he is not capable of being that guy with that pressure to excel his records. But I like to think he can b/c of whats around him. CP ensures that outcome.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
not worried at all the only one thing that did worry aother that cps shoulder is what the f888 was todd collins thinkin and doin with the ball come on man
|
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Hey the Defense is awesome. We are going to the ship. Burnell looked like he was listening to WR in the huddle telling him that they are open. We are getting ready to bury the league.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
One series with the starters isn't enough to pass judgement. I don't think the Skins started any games last year with impressive opening drives...it always seemed to take a series or two to get moving. If the starters go two quarters the week after next with the same results i am going to be askeered. BTW with CP out for the preseason, I think this will actually help Brunell since he won't have the same caliber of check down receiver to go to, forcing him to really look for his 3rd or 4th progression.
I am still cautiously optimistic about our offense, and blissfully gleeful about our defense. No change from yesterday morning. |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Was Clinton Portis crying or sobbing in his latest interview of today? RB is starting to be a concern. Betts has a hamor quad, Carter is out, Lumsden has hip so theres just Rock and white. I'd give Betts 3 plays next game and run Rock, Lumsden, and white and try to hang on with health.
|
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
betts rock and nemo should be good enough to cover a game or 2...as long as portis is back for the cowboys (week 2 right?) then i will be somewhat pleased witht he given circumstances.
and no my outlook on the season hasnt changed after one pre season game which featured out starters for such little time |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
No not really i figured our season was going to be decided by our qb play and unfortually right now that has me scared.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Not worried about the starting offense. They've got a huge playbook they're in the process of learning. In addition, if Saunders feels Brunell will frequently need a dump-off receiver, he'll arrange that he has one. Defense looks great.
Concerned about the second-string players. I think it's going to be a rough season and it would be good to be able to rest the first-stringers when the game is in hand (to avoid injuries.) Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we can safely do so. Just hope none of our good players get hurt because they can't be safely taken out. If CP is laid up for a little I hope Cincinnati lets #39 go. Espy looked good, and Thrash (as usual) seemed to be get open for the dump-offs when he was in. I was upset with Espy for catching the ball 2 yards short of a first down, but he's learning. I guess if ST gets hurt they can fill in with CP? |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Someone tell Doughty to stop beating himself up after each play he didn't make. He needs to develop a short term memory. I would like to see him line up with the starters this week. They guys trying to make the team were doing a lot of pointing fingers against CIN.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
We'll be fine.
I think Portis will be fine, too. Hell, if Emmitt Smith can play with a seperated shoulder, CP should be good to go. Pound for pound, he is one of the toughest RBs in the league. Look at the bright side. At least the injury isn't severe and we know that he won't get hurt more during preseason.
Don't forget the running back has to block also, and we've seen what Portis can do from a blocking standpoint. Every DC in the league will send blitzers at that bad shoulder to see if he can handle it. |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
the loss itself means nothing, but the injuries that resulted from it are concerning.
|
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
My concerns are the same as they where at the end of last year.
1. Where is the offensive creativity? 2. Will third and long remain a death knell 3. Can we find a way to get Portis into the end zone? This first loss is not an indicator that we still are in the same boat as last year- but then again it didnt exactly dispell my fears. I just hope to see some development offensivley by the 3rd or final pre season game. Until then I just watch and wait. As for the Defense LOL- plz WE ROCK. even sans Springs for a bit. Last year's success owes itself to one letter "D" go Skins |
Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
I put "No, there is cause of concern though" because I think it brought me back down to Earth and reality....
