Re: Has Bugel lost it?
Excellent point. And don't forget Mark Schlereth -- another late round gem.
Sometimes I wonder whether that was really great scouting and a demonstration of Beathard's keen eye for spotting talent, or was it just the luck of the draw? Just think of the one-in-a-million shot the Patriots had by taking one of the best quarterbacks in the league in the 6th round! I guess it's a combination of both. The stars were certainly aligned for the Redskins throughout the 80's. But Beathard was one of best at his job.
Beathard made those type of picks everywhere he went, he was one of the all time great talent evaluaters, Gibbs now that he has total control on personel is finding out that drafting late is much more than just making a selection, you here him constantly say how he believes we will really find some big surprises from these late round picks, of coarse that used to happen under Beathard but it hasen't happened yet for him. Espy is the first player under Gibbs to really have a chance to be that kind of player. |

The thread title at first made me think he had a panty rade at an old folks home. Buge's your sly dog.

RB Jessie Lumsden looks good so far. He could develop into a good player. |

Agreed, I don't believe he's an everydown back, but used properly he could be very valuable, I actually think we didn't do to bad this year in the later rounds and free agency, but that does remain to be seen. |

Has Bugel lost it? NO!!!
Is this an "I'm Bored" topic? |
Re: Has Bugel lost it?
Bugel is the MAN! Give him a credit where credit is due. He can't make the blocks himself. I believe the O-line is gonna be pretty impressive this year.

Somebody is over thinking.......our offense is gonna rock.

Re: Has Bugel lost it?
I keep hearing that everybody is happy with the back-ups but I've yet to see anything on the field to suggest that anybody can step in without a significant drop-off in performance.
Am I being too hasty? Am I putting too much blame on Bugel?
Yes you are and yes you are. Of course you are going to see a drop off in performance with a back-up -- at every position. Ladell Betts is good, but we've dropped off at RB. The team is scrambling for corners now because Shawn Springs is out until week three. Take a guess at what happens if Marcus Washington or Santana goes down for a couple of weeks! Lets hope that the first team stays healthy and that second team players can step it up for a game or two and contribute on special teams. |

Obviously there will be a drop off in performance when a starter is replaced, that is why I added the word 'significant'. Perhaps I should have used 'huge' instead. |

Significant, huge or astronomical, you are going to see a drop off in talent/performance. That doesn't reflect on Buges any more than it would with all the other position coaches. they coach what they have to work with. |
Re: Has Bugel lost it?
i don't know if i agree with "we have a top 5 O line"... samuels is a top 6-10 player and thomas and jansen are top 3 and top 5, but rabach and dockery are pretty average.
last year seattle and KC were clearly 1 and 1a, and after that you had denver and then you could make a case for a lot of clubs, including the Skins. top 10 yeah, top 5, i'm not so sure. |
