Re: Sacrifice the Season
Calm down, one game is one game. So we lost a Monday Night game. How many Monday Night games has Gibbs won? ZERO. Anyway, I think it is to our advantage that everyone thinks we suck. Everyone has thought we sucked for the last 4 years. At times our offense was unstoppable, at times it wasn't, we just need to work on some things and move on. And the defense needed to get an ass kickin' humble them, I know we have the besst D in the league. To say we need to look next year, well I barely made it to this year, I can't wait that long.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Anyone who thinks we should put in campbell right now is a moron. It has been one game, and it was the first game in a new offense. Our only problem was in the redzone. We're fine. Shut up.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Have you all been drinking? Put down the bottle, don't give up on the season, and at least wait to see campbell on the field before you dub him a bust.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
some of the so-called-fans are emberassing me. 1 game and season is over?

Re: Sacrifice the Season
I would not be OK with not putting our best effort in trying to get to 15-1, or 14-2 or 13-3. You should ask this question if we get to 1-12.
What makes you think Campbell isn't being developed now? Do you know these guys go to class and take tests on the game plan each week. Their test scores are a factor in whether they play. Do you know how Campbell is doing? No ? They watch a lot of film. You don't just look at tape, you have to learn what to look for. Some one teaches you that. And I hope, trust & pray that the Skins are really teaching Campbell how to be a professional-level, NFL quarterback, which is a whole lot different than being a college quarterback. Pro football is the same sport, but it ain't the same game!!! Campbell is in the second grade. Joey Harrington, David Carr, Ryan Leaf, Alex Smith, JP Losman and Patrick Ramsey, now the #3 QB for the Jets, were all thrown out there. That what you want? |
Re: Sacrifice the Season
I think you guys should start Brunnell unless you were to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this season. But next year Campbell absolutely has to start.
A perfect time to switch QB's?
We won our first playoff game in over 10 years and were elimanted in the second round of the playoffs by the NFC Champs. How was it a perfect time to throw out your incumbant QB?
So you were happy with Brunells performance in the playoffs? I sure was thrilled with that Tampa game! As I said before. New system, new players on offense, good time to make a transition at QB. I'd rather have a slight drop off this year so Campbell can learn under Gibbs and Saunders until they both go elsewhere in the near future. And by elsewhere I don't necessarily mean coaching wise. Just away from the 'skins. |
Re: Sacrifice the Season
I think a common misconception is that this is some knee-jerk reaction to the first game. Mark Brunell didn't play poorly in the first game, but he also didn't play well.
Same can be said about our defense, but you say nothing about sitting them on the bench. |
Re: Sacrifice the Season
Our defense has bailed us out of countless games since Williams came aboard. I'm not happy with our defense. Our secondary situation sucks, and our Dline didn't get any pressure. That said, we KNEW that coming in but still didn't try to score many points.

yea we purposely didn't score points because we wanted to lose...that makes sense |

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Brunell needs to not just go out there and not lose the the game. Aside from the first dallas game last year, how many games has he actually changed the out-come and won it for us? I'm still waiting...... Hey Brunell, I've been one of the guys on your side. Now that you have some offensive weapons, how about you use them! And you Adam Archulata, you do know how to play defense right? We cannot lose this game. Hell, we might have to run the table from here on out. And you Al Saunders how about some inovation and execution with positive results. Thank you, and I will be praying for this team.

Oh, but sitting the starting QB down is going to solve all those problems. Yeah, that's the key..we'll sit MB down and suddenly the secondary starts covering people better, Frost starts kicking 60 yard punts everytime he's out on the field, Clinton Portis is amazingly 100% with no sorness in his shoulder, and Bill Parcells suddenly has a breast reduction. Sorry, but yours and other's excuses for sitting MB down is weak at best. |
Re: Sacrifice the Season
I don't think so either. I believe Saunders is going to bring in another qb or draft one in this upcoming draft. Booty or Quinn is my best someone who can pick up this offense quickly and that can make all the throws. I would not be surprise if he tries to trade for Green next season.
saunders may not last that long ;) he wants to be a head coach still. |
Re: Sacrifice the Season
if hall makes that kick, and the skins win in overtime, is any of this an issue? brunell did not play that bad. our defense couldnt stop old man johnson on third downs. if our defense plays anywhere near the level of the last 2 years we win that game 16-10
|
Re: Sacrifice the Season
let me clear up my previous thread. i was very excited when we got brunell and im not a brunell basher, he is just not helping us win. instead of throwing the ball away on 2nd and 10 several times run up for 4 yards or so. hes got happy feet. honestly im not crying for campbell or collins to come in. i have not seen campbell in a real game situation and collins is garbage. another rookie in next years draft is NOT the answer, a young veteran with some playing time would be acceptable for next year, but brunell does give us the best chance to win now.
|
Re: Sacrifice the Season
campbell will in all likelyhood (based on history) make more mistakes and cost the skins more game than brunell. yeah he sucked in tampa, but we wouldn't be there unless he lit it up against NY and dallas, among others. and he wasn't the reason we lost to tampa the first time or SD or denver (though he, of course, could have done more).

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Hey didnt we win a playoff game last year with brunnell....didnt we win our last 5 and make the playoffs last year with mark brunnell. Our best chance is with brunnell. There is no ifs and or buts about it. Absorbing a 700 page playbook has got to be a bit much. Mark is the man for the job.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
No, I would not be okay with a losing season just to let Campbell play.
Campbell is suppose to be learning the system each day he is a Redskin. I trust the coaching staff has a better grasp of his developmental process than outsiders looking in possess. Campbell has shown some promise, but he is far from ready to lead this team. Perhaps he never will be able to lead this team. |
