The great part about this whole thing....thanks to the GMEN....we are only 1 game back and haven't played worth a shit yet!

Congrats 5rings on the 'boys victory last night. Your team was well prepared and executed better than us. Hopefully we'll get our act together and make the return match in DC more of a contest (hopefully with a Redskins victory of course!)

Re: How 'bout Them Cowboys!!!

sigh

you're right that dallas kinda kicked our face in, but there's too much hyperbole and it comes off as just being a bit of an ass.

I don't engage in the flamefests though, so maybe it's apropo, but your analysis post midway down is much more useful.

as for your first post, taylor is NOT a corner and isn't always assigned specificly to glenn. he kept TO quiet and if you check the history of our games, gregg williams is great at stopping #1 WRs and terrible at stopping the #2 WR (football outsiders has an article that compiles the info if you want to save time).

Carter is the DE that sucks, daniels is fine. he just average and more of a run stopper, but he deflects a ton of passes too. We just don't have a good rush guy outside of marcus washington. passing on merriman was a huge mistake, and the skins were real close to taking him... woulda shoulda :/.

springs is probably just as important as portis.
I told you that the dallas O line was improved. If TO and the other recievers didn't drop 11 passes this game would have been a rout in the first half.

How come 21 can't cover T.Glenn? answer - he doesn't play the pass very well. (we have a safety like that too.)
wouldda coulda, and you obviously missed him covering TO, covering randy moss and TO last year, and TO's stat line last night (3 for 19). If you're going to talk trash, at least try to be factual.

Re: How 'bout Them Cowboys!!!

You know, I have been waiting a year for this moment, and now that it has arrived I do not have it in me to rub salt in the wound.

I wish I could say "good game", but we all know it was not.

It is hard to even credit the Redskin offense for that 3-point field goal. The only reason they got in FG range on that series was because of a stupid personal foul penalty on third down committed by Akin Aydele. Without that penalty, there would not have even been a filed goal.

Congrats on shutting down TO.
But they forgot about:
Glenn
Crayton
Barber
Jones
But like I said before, Owens does not need 3 TD's to be a factor in a game. The success of those players can be accredited somewhat to Owens presence on the field. Especially on the long TD to Glenn.

I have to say that the Redskin coaching staff owes much much more to thier fans, and thier owner. The fans are always there to support and be there for thier team through thick and thick. Snyder has always gone out and invested in some of the best talent in the league. All the tools have been in place, but there seems to be a philosphy clash in the coaching staff.

There are problems in D.C. and if you can't see that you need to remove the blinders.

If this offense goes down to Houston next week and lays an egg, there will be an uproar.

This is an issue the Skins had since the playoffs last year. Dismal offensive production in the 2005 playoffs, abysmal in the 2006 preseason, and non-existant in the first 2 weeks of the regular season.

Again, I have been a member of this board for a year now and visit here daily and see what is going on. There are some stand-up, first rate fans here..........and you deserve and have earned the right for more from your coaches.

I said this in another thread, if I'm a Cowboys fan of course I'm happy about the W.

BUT, I wouldn't be too happy about the sloppy game they played. Penalties, dropped passes, a 100 yard kickoff return... a good team would have romped the Cowboys last night. Fortunate for you guys we aren't a good team right now.

GTripp0012 09-18-2006 10:00 AM

Re: How 'bout Them Cowboys!!!

The Offense sucks without Portis and the Defense sucks without Springs, so I am really not shocked at the outcome.

Here's the good news: No one in the NFC East is undefeated. So if the coaches pull things together and our guys get healthy, Washington still wins the division going away.

There are some must wins on the schedule now. Next week is a must win to get off the mat. We will have to be 3-2 or better in the remaining divisional games. Outside of Jacksonville, all games at home are must wins from here on out. And Indianapolis is the statement game, This team needs to prove that they can go beat a top team on the road, and that's going to be the game they prove it.

It's not like we just lost a game we were expected to win. Short week, on the road, at your rival. Right now, it's all about making sure you beat the Texans.

I stood in here when Dallas got whipped 35-7 and opened a thread and took all you had to give.

it's different this year isn't it?

I'm calling you out Brudlee, Tafkas, Matty, Scheed, mooby, illdefined, TMC, BSB/Big Skin Bauer, I stood and took. Are you able to do the same?

The skins looked directionless. Where was the pass pressure?
Your offense scored 3 points.

They never threatened to score any more!!!

Do you now believe that Portis is by FAR the best player on your roster?

I told you in pre season that Ware had become unblockable. He ate some brunell tonight.

I told you that the dallas O line was improved. If TO and the other recievers didn't drop 11 passes this game would have been a rout in the first half.

Phillip Daniels is not very good.

How come 21 can't cover T.Glenn? answer - he doesn't play the pass very well. (we have a safety like that too.)

So now, for my victory, upon my arrival on Nov 5th, I would like you to have the prospective brides/partners ready for my .....ahem... examination , as the Droit de Seigneur will commence as you are clearly in need of better DNA.
Yeah, it is different so far, but there is still much football that needs to be played. There is also another game that needs to be played in Washington. It's simple dude, your boys took care of business at home but that's what they are supposed to do. Last night stung but in the end really means nothing to us because we still have our shot at your boys in our house! We'll see if all that you said about your "improved" team comes to pass in that game.

well the next few week will determine your season you have 2 easy games against Housotn and Ten that are must wins and then you have Jax,NYG and Ind if you can get 1 of this games you'll still have a shot but 2 will be more necesary for the long run

Basically, the way I see it, if we lose more than 4 more games this season we are S.O.L., which blows because we still have to go to NYG, Philly, and Indy; and we still have to face some tough teams at home.

I wish we had something as obnoxious to say as, "How about them Cowboys?"

Still though, what pisses me off is that I didn't go to a Cowboys site after we beat them twice last year wanting to hear good game. It's like those hot girls who are like, "I'm so ugly," just so they can hear someone say how hot they are.

F...that.

I'd be more concerned about your own team and your own upcoming schedule blue boy. Beating the Redskins doesn't exactly spell out a successful season for the Cowboys, at least not by NFL Standards. I mean, how many times have our teams beaten eachother even when they were headed in opposite directions?

I love how they're here, on a Redskins message board, bitching that we aren't licking their balls because they beat us in a really ugly game. Going off what you said TMC, I wouldn't expect to hear anything but trash talking regardless of what the outcome last night was if I wasted my time on a cowboys site. I guess these guys just didn't get hugged enough as kids.

5 rings - you beat us without Portis, and you should have. We had no shot to win this game without him.

Your O-line deserves all the credit, and your unsung hero was Vandy for putting the game out of reach with his 50-yarder...huge kick. Congrats

Re: How 'bout Them Cowboys!!!

I just read some of my posts from last night, and I was starting to come off as a bit of a sore winner. A bit too much posturing. Had a few too many at the bar watching the game.

It felt good to win at home because that loss last year at home was as devastating a loss as the Cowboys have had in a looooong time.

A few points.

- Brunell just does not look comfortable. Balls were going all over the place.

- Plain jane Vanilla Defense. I didn't see very many of the Williams exotic blitzes at all.

It is so very early in the season that I don't think the Skins are in a desperate position yet at all.

A win next week and the skins are right back in it.

Kaine, no excuses dude. With Portis, without Portis - they kicked our asses. I have the distinct feeling though if Portis were available, we would have run him into a very predictable, grind it out scheme to the tune of 3 yds per carry.

We'll have our day with Dallas yet!
It's like every post a Cowboy fan makes in here, a douchebag gets his popped collar.
That is not true, there are a lot of Cowboys' fans in here, like myself, to see the reaction of skins fans and what do they think whether the game is a win or loss.

I love football and believe or not I hate it when Dallas wins like last night. I wanted Dallas to beat the Skins when everyone thinks that Washington has a great team.

It hurts to see that much talent (Lloyd, Randel El, Moss) be crippled with a washed up QB. I know how it feels because we have the same problem. Gibbs for some reason LOVES his boy Mark just like Parcells LOVES Drew. Dallas is seamingly a bit better as far as the back-up QB situation goes, but we still don't know for sure. I think both teams need new QB that can actaully through the ball.

For some people who ask why am I here? I live in the washington DC area and my friends told me about this site and encourged me to post comments here (so it was a Redskins fan idea). It is all good now, we won the one at home, we just wait and see if you guys can improve by the time the Cowboys ride into the district.

Hell, I'll have nothing to say to THEM if we DO win. I'm just going to enjoy the fact that OUR team won, not that the other team LOST.

BigD, I don't think too many people here mind posts like yours or many of the one's that I've read from 5Rings (there are probably some others too, but that's not the point). These kinds of posts are good, they encourage conversation and debate. We' bust each other's chops all the time, but we know it's in good fun.
It's the posts like "we really dominated your team" or "joe gibbs is old" that get annoying on this board. I do think we have a double standard, which is to be expected, that says that we can make those kinds of posts about the cowboys because this is a Skins site. Basically, I don't think TMC's douchebag comment (which was hilarious) was meant for people like you.
