5 weeks, no pay... over $500,000. longest suspension for an in game act ever.
But still not enough considering the severity of the actions.

Has anything like this ever been attemped on the field? The worst sports attack I've ever seen before this was the punch on Rudy Tomjonavich that almost killed him, but still, that didn't involve cleats...just a fist.

i've heard mixed reports that it's either 190k or 500k... i don't think he makes enough for it to be 500k. just thought i'd clarify.

Hahaha, what a dumb gorilla.
This guy works so hard through his whole career and b/c he was too F'N criminal minded that he looks like he will have to get a job after he retires as all his NFL earnings were in vain
This link is about how he is relentless calling to apologize. Golly Gee what a kindhearted guy. Oh, I forgot to mention if you didnt already know, he still could be sued for arguably everything he is worth. F'N idiot. No wonder this apology means so much to get across, its a multi-million dollar potential sentence pending probably.

It's 190k confirmed and it appears there won't be other fines which it's bull because he should had gotten another fine other than the suspension without pay.

And for the look of it I don't think Gurode will pres charges against him I guess he doesnt want to have in his conscience that he ended this guy carrier by putting him on jail or have a precedent as the player in the NFL who got another 1 in jail.

The reality is that it has been always a unwritten rule that what happens on the field stays on the field in every sport.

I remember when I used to play we had a major rivalry against another team and each time we faced each other, it would en up in a fight. Team vs Team, coaches told us before the game not to take our helmets off to avoid being hit with helmets directly on the head and I for 1 always grabbed a helmet I found lying in the ground and use it as a weapon many players for both sides will end up in the hospital but it would never lead to criminal charges.

It ain't right and thsi was way different because is not like gurode had anyway of defending him self it was just coward but it's still football and I guess he see it that way.

I agree, dboyz. I don't think gurode should press charges, and I don't think he will ... like you said, what happens on the field stays on the field.

If gurode's career, or life, was in jeopardy, then that would change everything.

btw, did anyone ever see that play where the defender punched the QB in the nuts after sacking him? the way the ref called the penalty was hilarious.

i dont think he should press charges. i think the titans should step up and fine him, if they are allowed to by the union

I'm a little surprised Haynesworth didn't get suspended for the rest of the season. I think he deserved it. You just can't do what he did. I hope other teams start trying to take him out when he gets back from his suspension.

i would've voted for a season ending time out myself.

I was surprised he got 5 games. I was expecting 2 or 3.

There was no way he was getting booted for the season.

Me too, especially since he kicked him twice. The fact that he kicked off his helmet is pretty bad, but then he looked down and purposely stepped on his face! WTF?!?! It was pretty Romanowski-esque.
is it just me, or did the cowboys look like a bunch of pussies for letting this happen and doing nothing? i would hope that if this happened to a redskin, someone would step up and at least TRY to do something about it
Like when the Dallas player draged our QB five yards after the sack and our O line just stood and watched.

Was that when Spurrier was here?

i thought the same thing when that happened. look at everyone standing around and watching our qb get punked in front of everyone

Not likely. Unions of any kind typically protect the bad employees, even if they're killing the company.

If I were the owner of the team, I'd really think about just nullyfying the bum's contract (there HAS to be some kind of "detriment to the team" clause in it) and letting him find a job elsewhere. They'll have a fatter version of Maurice Clarrett on their hands if they don't lay down the law.

I think I heard that the Dallas guy said he did not want to press charges is that true?

probably. the NFL is a small community, and no one wants to be known as the guy who sent another player to jail.

I don't care how good his apology was though, he's still an idiot. and i don't know about and haven't seen the fujita hit, but i heard it was after the whistle and completely away from the play (was he trying to goon and take steve smith out by any means? or was he just amazingly confused?)
