Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Of course Gibbs is to blame--he's the head coach. And the team president. And no doubt Gibbs would be the first to agree with that.
But we gave up over 200 yards in rushing, had two killer TOs, a few crucial droped passes, and, let's face it, Campbell did not play well today, especailly in the second half. My feeling is fix the D and get Campbell some experience. Gibbs has earned the right to stay another year, IMHO. We need to fix the player acquisition issues--Gibbs could use some help there, and let's hope he does something about it. I feel that Saunders O will work with Campbell and Portis and our WRs and Cooley. The D needs work and the kid needs to get some seasoning. Cleaning house now won't do that--that didn't work before. It's going to take time. We lost to a better team today, IMO--folks may not want to admit it, but that's how it looked to me. The solution is getting better on D and getting JC and everyone comfortable with Saunders system. That won't happen until next year, so it's going to be painful to watch the rest of the year. But firing everyone and starting from scratch is a mistake. |
So if you change the coach who comes in that is better
That's another question...,which I could throw an answer out there by the way, but it has nothing to do with the argument I'm stating. I for one am simply stating that Gibbs has not done a good job since returning. Sir, his record speaks for itself. |
Gibbs isn't blowing coverages, missing tackles, making mistakes on the field. it is about execution.
its GW fault, we have absolutly no defense, not easy to win games when you've got no D. i would love to see GW get fired
Man, you've done it....my head has started to explode, blood coming out of my nose and ears. OK, listen to me carefully cause I can only respond to this idiotic argument one time. Under you're argument, NO HEAD COACH WOULD EVER GET FIRED!!!! Oh, its not Art Shell's fault the players are not executing! Oh its not Norv Turner's fault, the players are not executing! YO DUMBASS, when the players don't execute over the course of the entire year, IT IS THE COACH'S FAULT!!!!!!!! |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Paul, I'm sure you're a good man and a die hard skins fan, but you're clearly thinking with your heart right now instead of your head. I know today's loss was another terrible dissapointment, but I think things are headed in the right direction. Let's face it we've had some devastating injuries this season, a tough schedule, and a new offensive system. I think if the skins can get some good defensive players in the draft and Jason Campbell continues to progress, next year could be very good, also the schedule will be easier with us facing NFC North and AFC East opponents. Don't forget the skins did make it to the playoffs last year and had a very good shot at getting to the NFC championship game, so Coach Gibbs obviously still knows a thing or two about coaching. What, would you rather still have Spurrier?
Im a Skins fan of over 20 years. Im sick and tired of the poor clock management, poor play calling at the end of the game, and poor personnell decisions. Good Bye Joe.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass. I'm sure Dallas could use another fan. When they play Joe Gibbs football THEY WIN. The first Quarter was Gibbs football. All that other Saunders crap is the reason we lose games. |

negativity, now's there's somethin new. the redskins are my team and i still like gibbs .as far as the hall comment goes ?, that's ignorant.that's about as much time as i want to waste on a tantrum.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Since Every One Is Trying To Blame Someone Why Dont We Just Fire Everyone And Get A New Team, Sounds Crazy Huh? Just Like All The Crap That Everyone Is Writing, Take The Year For What Its Worth And Wait Till Next Year, Chemistry Will Be The One Thing That Gets This Team Into The Playoffs Again. Think About It, When You Played Sports, Your Team Mates Were Your Friends And People You Could Count On, Let These Ones Work Together For A Little While With Out Changing Something And I Garuntee A Better Year Next Year. How Well Would You Do With 3 Quaterback Changes, Swaping #1 Recievers, Dismanteling A Defense, And A Head Coach Getting Used To The New Nfl. Oh And Did I Forget To Mention A New 700 Page Playbook. Just Wait And See

No one here is saying they don't like the Redskins all of sudden and I honestly don't feel like anyone is being negative. There is a diffence between being negative and telling the truth. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I'm saying it causes inconsitency when you have two people trying to run one Offense. Gibbs knows how to run an offense, and from where I'm sitting all of that Saunders crap just causes confusion among staff and players. You end up chasing your tail when you don't stick with one kind of playing calling.

How has bringing Gibbs back worked out so far? |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
SNYDER brought Saunders here, and Gibbs allowed it and wanted it to HELP the team. Hind sight... 20/20. It was a mistake, too many chiefs. Get rid of him.

No, no, no....Saunders was all Gibbs idea sweetheart...all Danny did was sign the check. I don't think Al Saunders even crossed Danny's mind. |

OH HELL NO! This is NOT Snyder's fault, he merely wrote the check for the groceries that Gibbs selected. This is JOE GIBBS fault. The pathetic use of draft choices is JOE GIBBS fault. Gibbs brought Saunders here, not Snyder, he merely signed the check. |

Ok. Going for a 50 yard FG when we are up by 11, with a new kicker is a coaching decision. Poor clock management by failing to go to the hurry up offensive with 5 min. left and down by 2 scores is a coaching decision. Freakin spiking the ball at the goal line, and throwing a "fade" to Thrash while Duckett sits on the bench is a COACHING DECISION. |

I agree. But the solution is to call better plays, not to fire the staff. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
here we go
OK Matt. I'll give you the same opportunity. Defend the performance of Joe Gibbs, not on his super bowl victories, but based solely upon his performance over the last 3 years. If you can honestly defend the decisions of the coaching staff both from a personnel standpoint and from a game calling standpoint, then I'll shut up. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Ok you win let's fire him now and gut the team.
Again, enough with the knee-jerk overreactions. The same old crap after every loss. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
It's not knee jerk, in my opinion. I honestly don't know what we should do.
Last year we were saying if we could just get the offense to come around, because the defense is set. And now it seems the defense has disappeared this year. They miss tackles and have a penchant for giving up big plays. But you know what, at the end of the day one thing is certain, this team isn't responding to this coaching staff. Whether it be tackling, scheme, clock management, personnel decisions....it all traces back to the staff. This team isn't responding to this staff. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
You gotta love this knee-jerk threads. Makes ya wonder if we have posters here who suffer from manic depression.

Joe Gibbs has cost this team the future in draft picks and free agency. I could live with that if he put a winner on the field, but then he takes the field and makes horrible play calls and clock management. Its easy to ride the fence, its much harder to take a stand. Ive had it. Gibbs should go, bring on Russ Grim. |

Fine, you tell me where Im wrong? You defend the play calling and the personnel decisions of this coaching staff. Please try, no one else has. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
So what do we do? Can Gibbs and start over at square one? Because that's what would happen. New coach = new players & new philosophy. Then all of a sudden Campbell might be the next Ramsey because he's not the hand picked guy of the new coach.
Starting over isn't the answer. We need to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to get this fixed, with this core of coaches and this core of players. |

You don't punt from the 33 YARD LINE!@#$!! IMO having a new kicker is a good reason to DO it.
Poor clock management is something like TO's wasted...I don't think you can expect a QB making his 3rd start to know the ins and outs of the game so well that he can run up to a line and call the offense there. I think they huddled after that first 1st down to call a series of plays, possibly saving time in the long run. When you play for the future, you risk sacrifcing the ability to run an efficent, effective 4 minute offense. We huddled like once when we shouldnt have, most of the drive was made in hurry up, and until the INT, I thought Campbell did it really well. Spiking the ball at the goal line really had no effect on the game. I don't like the goalline fade, but honestly, I think Al has his hands tied with a passing attack that refuses to protect the QB and a QB who is too inexpierenced to know when he should hit his check down. Abandoning the run was a poor coaching decision, but if you are running the ball with that much success and still can't complete 50%...that much isn't coaching. We are playing for the future...live with it. |

Hhhhmmm....let me get this straight. It's Joe Gibbs' fault for the horrible play calls (which I believe our game plan was exactly what we should've been doing all along), clock management. etc.... even though Al Saunders is the play caller. Hhhmmmmm...but it's Joe Gibbs fault for hiring Al Saunders...and it's not Daniel Snyder's fault because he just signs the checks...but then again Daniel Snyder hired Joe Gibbs... you make absolutely no sense whatsoever. We've done fine in the draft, we just never have any picks. We don't NEED a GM, but we do NEED to change the way we approach roster building. If getting a GM is the best way to do that, lets see it. |

Joe Gibbs has total control of this team. It was Gibbs decision to bring in Brunell, trade a draft pick for Brunell, and to stand by Brunell. It was Gibbs decision to wait till now to bring in JC. It was Gibbs decision to give Williams the go ahead to get whomever he wanted aka Archuletta. It was Gibbs decision to do EVERYTHING because Dan has given him total control! JOE GIBBS is to blame for the state of the Redskins people!!! |
