There are really only two "anti-cowboy" threads right now. The other two started out simply as news articles. I would think the Parcells coming back thread and the TO spitting thread can be found on most other NFL boards especially NFC East teams.

Romo has had a ton of hype no doubt, but he's also performed very well as much as I hate to say it.

I agree. I just don't think he's deserving of a Pro Bowl nod after just a few games. Hell, there were PLENTY of players last year doing better than him at their positions and didn't get the hype he got, and guess what? They didn't make it either.

It's all the media hype machine.

Your putting too much emphasis on numbers and not the outcome. 6-2 and a playoff spot is what people are looking at, not stats. Romo's stats, if you dont think he deserves a pro bowl are awesome. Highest qb rating and completion % in NFC. You guys all know QB's will always get more attention than any other player on the team.

The QB position itself is a media hype machine.

There are other situations, namely people like Damon Huard who held down the fort after years in obscurity. Where was the hype for him? He didn't make the Pro Bowl and had similar numbers.

He didnt keep his starting job is the main difference there. Had he been able to keep it, maybe he would of went. Then again there is much more of a selection of productive qbs in the AFC not NFC.

Look at Aikman...come on, he's not very good as a commentator.
Emmitt Smith, he's still everywhere for some reason, always making guest appearances.
Jimmy Johnson is a constant on the Fox pregame show.
Worst of all, Michael Irvin...holy cow this guy could murder someone and still be on TV.

It's all about timing. He played well in the first half of the season but that's basically been forgotten now that Green is back. Plus the AFC QB situation is much deeper than the NFC. You know it's deep when Brady doesn't make it, which is actually very surprising when you think about it, he's been the NFL golden boy for years now.

I feel Aikman plugs himself too much, and when he does talk about the game he has to talk about too many personal issues/excuses, like "the reason Johnson couldn't hit the hole there was because he had an issue with his wife this morning." I don't think he adds value. But maybe that's just me.
Also, his monotonus voice makes me want to fall asleep, and he has a cartoonish head. haha

with this reasoning ladell betts should have made the pro bowl. does anyone have more rushing yardage over the last 5 games then betts? its all about media hype. last year trotter made it after only starting 8 games. now come on, is this really enough to justify being a pro bowler? if it is, then betts got ripped off

If you could find the numbers (stats) to show why JC should have all the attention please post them as I would be intrested to see what your looking at. I'm not saying that he is not improving with each game but its not like he is doing what Young is doing in Tenn.

I'm not saying he should be a pro bowler or anything like that, just that NO ONE is talking about him and they have raised Romo to the status of Cult hero. You practically can't turn on the TV without hearing the name ROMO.
Tony has 17 td's and 12 int's, so while the TD's are good, he would project to 21 int's over the course of a full season. How come no one talks about that?

Amen. Homo has been showing that he is not infallible. Now, he certainly wasn't helped by TO suddenly playing defense against him and knocking down his passes instead of catching them, but Homo by no means looked like Pro Bowler out there yesterday.

Romo's luster appears to fading already, and the NFL wants to strike while the iron is still holding at least some heat. Not hard to figure this one one out: "Guy with goofy name from small school unseats famous veteran and wins for hard-ass coach." It's a pretty simple script, really.

and still no stats on Jason posted but more Romo crying. Jason gets coverage people talk about him.
Look stats are really just that. Romo has produced some wins for the cowboys which is better than stats.

Matt may have better numbers than Vince but Matts team is in no position to make it to the playoffs and they play in the NFC WEST! Vince team plays in the AFC SOUTH and is right in the thick on things.

Wow, what an asanine post. You are actually comparing a QB with 20,000 passing yards, 130+ TDs with a guy who has started in 8 games, and has been mediocre at best in 3 of those?

The only thing anyone has said is that Romo backdoored his way into the Pro Bowl, and that the media is going a little crazy over him before he has actually proven himself. If he maintains his level of play, he is going to be a very good QB for the Cowgirls for a long time. But make no mistake - he ain't the second coming.

The QB position itself is a media hype machine.[/quote]Are you saying that Tony Romo is the entire reason the Cowboys are 6-2? If so, could it be reasonably assumed that Romo could be forced on to any other team in the league and win 75% of his starts regardless of his numbers?

Romo deserved the probowl because he has accomplished more in his 9 starts than anyone in the NFC has in 15, exception to Brees and Bulger who also made the pro bowl.

And the Cowboys wouldn't be where they are with Bledsoe, only because Bledsoe was horrible, not necessarily because of anything special Romo did.

Garcia should get more attention than either of these players, because he has actually accomplished something, and is, now, actually accomplishing something. Homo is 6-3, which is fine, but 2 of those wins (Carolina and the Vagiants) had nothing to do with him.
