Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
I wonder if the Redskins are meeting with Davis so they can jack up the price for the Giants and Cowboys.
Of course we will pay davis he wasnt drafted by the skins. Thats why dock going to leave. Danny cant sell dock jershey but davis is a new guy, so you can sell new jersheys.
Davis won't make Dock money unless the Cowgirls panic because they heard a rumor that Washington wanted him. Funny how anyone who was perceived to be on our radar has secured their family's financial security for generations. |
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
He didn't pan out as the #2 pick, but he's still a darn good O-lineman.
Exactly. He was drafted to be the anchor of a line. Here, expectations would be much lower. The guy is definitely more talented than Dock. |
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
well lets see him keep dock. Sorry because he signs a few players this year, doesnt change the fact since 2000 we let our so call core players leave that a fact. keep pierce we wouldnt need London who older n slower than pierce, kept smoot we would have wasted a pick on rogers we would have merrieman or ware that would fill our void for a pass rusher. Paid Bailey what he wanted we wouldnt had to pay springs who cant get on the field because he hurt all the time. Listen Jansen on the downside, fox is just a backup, betts can start on other teams. Thomas is starting getting older and seller is a beast. Dock will leave then we will have to pay out of the butt for someother FA to learn the system and hope to protect Campbell. Also thank god we keep Brunell i can sleep better. So if i upset you but calling out your dad Danny,
All of your points are valid (except the one on Dock) but you are living in the past. 2007 is the new Redskin order where all signings are reasonable and they make sense. You may be upset that they didn't sign Clements for 81 million but not this year. I like that they held onto Arch and Lloyd. They have decided that the coaches are going to make these guys earn their checks. Hail to the Redskins! |
You're gonna get your chance.
Leonard Davis has left Dallas. I doubt he leaves Washington without signing.
Danny boy doesn't usually let guys leave without giving them some of his money. |

Leonard Davis Is On His Way I am told the big man got on a plane, is on his way to Ashburn, and the Skins will have every chance to sign him. of course, the crazy contract Dockery got will up his price. He left Dallas and from what I gather there will be no more negotiations tonight (the Giants are also very interested as well as a few other teams). Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
im glad they didnt pay clements. should have never sign AA everyone knew the man couldnt cover anyone. Lloyd was a terrible move, first they should had let him play out his contract instead of signing him to the standard 10 mill bonus and 6 yrs 30 mill contract. Make the man prove he can play before paying him.

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
Leonard Davis is not a premiere left Tackle. He is grotesquely overrated .... Davis is a physical specimen, but he is an average left tackle.

Well since we have a good left tackle I imagine he won't be playing there for us if he signs. His skill set seems pretty suited to guard to me. Hell he played guard in college. |

Samuels is the premier left tackle. Davis would play guard and the fact that he can play left tackle is just gravy. |

His versatility alone adds enough value for me. I think at guard he'd be just as good as Dock and with being able to slide over for the oft nicked Samuels is really a blessing. I really think we should make Davis a priority. Of course the standard disclaimer of: If he will sign for a value contract. If I see some ridiculous SB for him from us I will be pissed. |

Well said - my thoughts exactly. |

me too, I'm worried about this one. I wish we could just suck it up & draft a guard in the later rnds, bring a couple undrafted rooks in & sign a vet or 2 post 6/1 when more fa's will be available, rather than for the quick fix w/a guy who from all indications does not sound like he's shown the passion & fire that this line needs. I would rather see a youngster who is less gifted but is firey & wants to win. If he would sign for about an $8mil bonus he may be worth the chance, but I doubt that. Davis is looking for a payday no doubt. I hope we're just toying w/the cowpokes & they sign him for a $18mil bonus like Dock got! |
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
If we can get davis we would have a very dominant O-line.... Now we need to solidify the Dline, is kearney comming in for a visit? Or is the Strahan rumor true?
|
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
They're letting him go for being lazy. Is he REALLY going to be an upgrade for the future or stop-gap?
|
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
I think being apart of team like ours and out of Arizona will have a major effect on his play. Similar to when Rice left to the buccs...
|
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
True enough. AZ is typically a cemetary for players.
|
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
I worry about picking up rejects from the Cardinals.
Kinda like picking up rejects from the 49ers. Good thing we never did that before... |
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
I kind of hope we get Davis, he would either provide great depth to our o-line, or even be able to take over for Dock at Guard, and from what I am hearing he likes playing Guard much more than tackle which is what ARZ was playing him at the last couple of years.

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
DAVIS WANTS BIG MONEY
Word on the NFL street is that free-agent offensive lineman Leonard "Big" Davis, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2001 draft, is looking for $23 million in guaranteed money. We're told that the request was made during a visit by Davis to the Cowboys. Consequently, the visit was a short one. Hey, if the guy was that good, the Cardinals' line wouldn't have been so bad. And the Cards would have used some of their staggering cap surplus to keep him. Next up for Davis is the Redskins. But if they weren't ready to pay Derrick Dockery, why would they pay Davis? DOUBT HE'S GONNA BE A SKIN! AT LEAST I HOPE NOT. NOT FOR THIS KINDA CASH! |

Leonard Davis Speaks Just ran into him as Jason Campbell was taking the big man to lunch. Davis seems likea cool, laid back cat. Said it's down to the Redskins and Dallas, where he visited yesterday. Said the Cowboys did not make a firm offer but they talked about parameters. Has no other visits planned. "I might make a decision this evening," Davis said. "I've just got to talk to my agent and talk to my wife ... It's all up in the air right now." Davis said he had good meetings with Buges, Coach Joe, The Snyder (he didn't call them by those names of course, but you get the drift). "This is my top two," Davis said of the Skins and Cowboys. He also said he wants to play here because "this organization "is committed winning." Yeah, that's what everyone says. Not sure if winning and spending are one and the same, but you get the idea. These guys clearly want to try to win in the way they want to win, but there remain caveats galore when you throw out big free agent bucks. As for the wild spending in this free agent market, Davis said: "Nothing surprises me." |
Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
that caveman video is classic, he will have to work on his false starts if he comes here thats for damn shore

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
Yahoo and other sources have been saying that the Skins are looking hard at left tackel L.Davis who played last season for Arizona. Is this as back up or can he be moved to Dockery's spot? What do you all think of this?
He certainly won't be a back-up, and neither will he be a Redskin at his asking price. With what he's asking, we may as well have signed Dock, and I certainly can't blame the team for not signing him to a contract like the one he got in Buffalo. Had we signed Dock to a contract like that, we would be renegotiating every year for the duration of it. |
