truly the only thing asinine is when we all thought we needed a new GM, you didnt apply for the position. I mean you know so much about what the team needs. If you remember correctly our offense wasnt that explosive last year why not explore the possibility of getting a franchise qb. I mean JC has been far less then great.
Like are you being serious? I'll reserve judgment until you say if you're kidding or not. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
Everybody is interested in Russell. Since we have a top pick, we have to show interest in everybody. It wouldn't make sense to announce who we like, b/c of trade scenarios. The game is played by making other teams think that we could pick the player whom they are targeting. Smoke screens.
BTW...Russell left his workout w/ some scouts saying it was the best workout they have ever seen. He won't go past Oakland. |

Re: Russell to the skins?
This is a garabage rumor. It makes absolutely no sense for the Skins to move up and the Raiders to move down. However, I got to see a lot of Jamarcus Russel last season, he CAN play. I think he's gonna be really good, but trading away Campbell to make it work is just stupid. I like Russell as much as anyone who is scouting him, I just don't buy the rumor and don't want him to replace Campbell.

Re: Russell to the skins?
I wish everyone would stop freekin out on this. There obviously must be talk that Russel is going to slip which wouldnt surprise me cause this dude didnt show me much to be the #1 pick. Nobody was even talking about him untill the LSU/ND bowl game and then everyone is on his jock because of one game. Oakland is probaly either trading the first pick which means CJ will go first and Quinn will go to the lions (causing russell to probaly slip to us) or there gonna take Quinn(and russell could still slip to us). It's just a smoke screen and is actually pretty brilliant because the FO is adding value to a player who otherwise would have none.
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
1) having russell, a top prospect, come in for a workout is standard practice when you have a pick that high at #6, and it is SMART LONG TERM planning. We never know if JC will be around in a few years & this guy might be a free agent. At that time our staff will have at least had some personal 1 on 1 time w/him.
2) Everybody tries to throw out some smokescreens before the draft. I think now agents are getting into the game too. As someone noted earlier, there was a rumor in 05 that we would sign S. Rolle to a 15mil bonus. Agents like the Skins, cause even if we don't want their player they can use Snyder's name to try & drive up the price. I think this is compounded by our f. office not being very good at networking in the nfl & Snyder not being very open to outsiders (based on reports). 3) Who knows how far his stock might fall between now & April 21 or how teams will change their approach. He might actually be there at #6. We could draft him & trade him a la Eli w/SD. 4) JC is the man & Gibbs brought him in. I think JC will be a better qb than Russell. So the guy's an athletic freak, that can only get you so far. I can't see Gibbs & co. doing anything to affect JC's confidence. We need a young qb, but rounds 4 to 7 will be the time to look for one. |
Re: Russell to the skins?
I can see Snyder doing this based on his love for Jeff George back in the day... But I don't see Gibbs letting this happen for the health of the team. We are so close in my eyes why jepordise that for one guy?

well put. I tried to say as much in my earlier post. If he falls to #6 there will likely be several teams willing to offer us multiple players, picks and cheerleaders! |
Re: Russell to the skins?
That was some funny stuff right there. But the funniest thing is that on some other teams MB there are going to be threads dedicated to this very blog. Their fans will read it and treat it as if it were gospel and believe it to be true just because people tell them it is, much like "The Magic Bullet Theory" which I got in so much trouble in Elementary School for when they taught me about that. This is one of the stupidest lies I have ever seen written in a while. Now if they said the Skins were looking to move up to get Calvin Johnson then I'd probably go along with that one. But seriously, I don't think that the Skins' F.O. is THAT stupid.

Re: Russell to the skins?
NO NO NO .... I hate this move don't even think about it F.O. We have a QB. BAD MOVE. We need Dline help. We dont need a QB. I HATE THIS. I hope the story is B.S. or that this is sdome kind of postering move to get us some draft day trades.

Oh Porterhouse, look at the wax build up on these shoes! I want that wax stripped off there, then I want them creamed and buffed with a fine chamois, and I want them now. Chop chop.

Re: Russell to the skins?
This makes more sense of it:
ESPN.com - NFL/DRAFT07 - NFL teams flock to LSU to watch Russell So what if Vinny was there? what else does he have to do? |
Re: Russell to the skins?
i hope they don't turn their backs on Jason Campbell. He has all the tools to be a winner and this would set this organization back another year
|
Re: Russell to the skins?
Here's a thought--Vinny is simply a decoy this year. Gibbs has figured out that he can't pick em, and sends him places where he can do least harm.
It's all the places where Vinny ISN'T that should be of interest. |

i don't like either, but i loved last night's south park... it was almost as disturbing as cartman feeding that kids parent's to him in the chili.

I don't know, that chiil (Scott Tenorman was it?) episode was pretty raw, actually made it hard to laugh at. |

Some of these speculative ideas are so far-fetched and out of the realm of possibility, they don't even warrant a response, and this is one of them. Sometimes people just get lost for something to talk about. |

Re: Russell to the skins?
If Russel was available at #6 (and he won't be) and we didn't take him I'd be pissed. With the Raiders showing that they may not be as interested in him as once thought, different scenarios may play out that allow him to fall, so the FO has to be prepared for that, and if he's available why would we not take him?
Again, the Brees/Rivers thing was a good problem to have. Having Brunell as a backup doesn't give us much options in the coming years and Joe Gibbs himself says the #1 most important position on the team is the starting QB, and the #2 is the Backup QB... I also think, if we hadn't already spent all of our picks, and were in a position to make a move we should.... but thats completely hypothetical and doesn't matter because we are not in a position to do so and would give up entirely too much if it were calling for movement up to #1 to take him... But... what if he falls to #4, and we could give up Adam Archuletta, Sean Springs, and our #6 pick to move up to take him... and somehow get dre bly in the process... would we do it? |

JC has shown nothing to warrent giving up on him so soon. And as far as Russell goes...throwing the ball 100 yards with the flick of a wrist does not make him a great NFL QB...he is far from a sure thing. Two words...Jeff George |
