Re: Marcus Washington gone?
Moronic if they did get rid of Washington. Best heavyhitter we have in the LB corp for sure. Marshall would be the one to go, but I rather not see him go either to be honest. We need to focus on our lines and our defensive backfield in the draft, although a mid to late round LB might not hurt either just for added depth and if Rocky isn't all that after all.

Marcus Washington back!
washingtonpost.com With four starting linebackers, they are looking pretty good at that spot. |

Re: Marcus Washington gone?
looking at how portis and some others contracts balloon after next year i kinda thought marcus could be moved to make some cap space, hes set to make alil under $6.5 M the next couple of years which aint bad compared to the around $10M year contracts for recent OLB freeagents such as peterson, a. thomas but im starting to become a real believer in loading up on mid - late first to third round picks . . .
briggs (3rd rounder) has had 126, 107, 134 tackles last 3 years at a whooping $380k a year s merriman signed a 5 yr $11-15 M contract d. ware 5 yr $13M even 1st rounder LBs sign relatively cheap lets hope mcintosh becomes a young force and we develop more of our own for cheap, briggs wants to get paid (as he should) like a. thomas but washington (who had 93 tackles and 7.5 sacks last year) for $6.5/yr sounds good to me, hes what we call a core skin lets save those big FA signings when were 1 player away from a SB run go skins! |
Re: Marcus Washington gone?
Didn't Washington have surgery though? He is the best LB we have by far, but maybe they have heard something about his rehabilitation or how the surgery went. I would tend to count this story as BS, but who knows. Maybe our FO knows Washington won't be the same man come September. I haven't seen much about it on Redskins.com.

Re: Marcus Washington gone?
I know that I have no way to prove this but i will post it anyway.About two weeks ago I was visiting my older sister in New York city.We were just having a casual conversation when she asked me if I knew who Marcus Washington was.I was like, of course I know who he is,he is a linebacker for the skins. So she said that a friend of hers is an old friend of his from alabama and that sometime soon they would be going out to dinner.I thought that that was pretty cool and said tell him to get me some tickets and thought nothing else about it.Then while we were eating dinner she gets a phone call from the friend I mentioned ealier. Her friend was at a wedding, and Marcus was standing right next to her.So I told my sister to ask him how his hip was doing and he replied "It was fine last night " in a wink ,wink ,nod, nod, manner. So I guess that meant that he was feeling pretty good.I know that the whole thing could be b.s but my sister really has no reason to lie to me.So there you go,thats my little second hand "report" on Marcus Washingtons hip.

Ha! I like that! Good story. And for the record, I believe you. You'd have to be pretty depraved to make up a story like that. Glad to hear he's getting laid too... |

Re: Marcus Washington gone?
Washington is scheduled to make $4Mil this year and $4.4Mil next year. That's not so big a step that it will force the Skins to cut him in '08. For comparison, Jon Jansen and Randy Thomas are scheduled to make $720K this year and around $5Mil next year. That kind of jump will draw more attention than Washington's deal. I would expect the Redskins to approach them about a restructure - again.
Washington belongs in Washington. I think he will be here until the end of his contract. (2009) |
