Re: What are your favorites?
What is your favorite song, or band, or rapper just bored trying to start some new conversation.
Mine is: Fav song: Metallingus by Alter Bridge Fav band: Alter Bridge
^ I LOVE that song. Tremoniti is amazing in that song and the guitar solos throughout that album. I have the cd in my car stereo right now actually! On Madden 2005 (I still play that version), I deleted all of the music except for the Alter Bridge song, so I don't have to hear the rest of the crap music and rap. Ok, mine... Fave song: My Own Prison Fave band: Creed (I know...but their music still lives on. Fave individual singer: Brian McKnight (what can I say, I like a range of music) Fave rapper: Any one of them that I can't hear. Rap is the WORST crap ever invented. |

For starters, I can't stand Scott Stapp's voice. It sounds like someone is wiping his ass with sandpaper when he sings. The same goes for the guy from Nickleback, IMO. He's trying so hard for that deep Eddie Vedder, Scott Wylen, whatever sounding voice and it just grates on my nerves. (Sorry if I butchered the spelling of those guys' names.) Second, I think their lyrics are terrible. Third, Stapp is such a self righteous asshole that even if he didn't sing like his mouth was half full of rocks and his songs weren't so crappy I'd probably still hate him. That is all...for now. |

thats funny but what do you think about alter bridge |
Re: What are your favorites?
I know I've heard them before but I can't recall any of their songs or what they sound like so I'm not going to pass judgement on them.
Also, that's cool if you like Creed or whatever, I just can't stand them. I know I like music that a lot of people probably don't like (DMB, Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, etc) but that won't stop me from listening to them any time soon. |

I won't lie though, I did like Creed initially when they first came out, but I quickly began to hate them once they became big and it became obvious they were huge posers, especially that extreme douchebag Scott Stapp. I hate Nickleback too, even though I've probably never heard one of their songs beginning to end. I don't need to to realize just how horrible they are. I remember that one song that started like something along the lines of 'I like your pants around your feet', whenever I heard that one line I just wanted to punch someone square in the face. |
Re: What are your favorites?
I won't lie, I kind of like Bond (and for the record, I liked the music long before I saw what they looked like)

Matty, I think we had this conversation about a year ago, but I'll say it again: I listen to the radio on my headphones pretty much all day at work and I swear to God i have to throw them off my head AS SOON AS I hear the first couple of notes from the song Photograph.
That is easily the worst popular song in the history of the universe; Stephen Hawkins even proved it in his new astrophysics book. |

On Topic: Robert Randolph and The Family Band is a great band to see live. I've seen them open for DMB a couple of times and they were fantastic.
Agreed. Robert Randolph and The Family Band is great. I just saw them at the Wanee Festival, on the Suwanee river in north Florida. What an amazing show. Here's the lineup: Allman Brothers Band GOV'T MULE THE DEREK TRUCKS BAND & SUSAN TEDESCHI ROBERT RANDOLPH & THE FAMILY BAND NICKEL CREEK RUSTED ROOT KELLER WILLIAMS THE RADIATORS SISTER HAZEL OTEIL & THE PEACEMAKERS DEVON ALLMAN'S HONEYTRIBE ROSE HILL DRIVE SCRAPOMATIC PHONOGRAPH BACKYARD TIRE FIRE BONOBOS CONVERGENCE I wasn't able to see everyone on the list, but out of the musicians I saw these were the best: Keller Williams Gov't Mule Allman Bros. Robert Randolph |
Re: What are your favorites?
I like all kinds of music. But I would have to say Sublime, Social D, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, 311, Neil Young, The Doors, Circle Jerks, NOFX, Blink, Green Day, Decedents. Are just a few.
As far as rap goes I’m not a huge fan but I do have Snoop, Eminem, NWA, Dr.Dree and the Beastie Boys on my I pod. I'll let them play every now and then. And you can’t go wrong with a double In & Out cheese Burger animal style with fry’s. Yum!:drink |
Re: What are your favorites?
My music taste is constantly changing. I'll be listening to Rock one week, Rap the next, Punk the week after that, and Country after that. It's hard to pinpoint favorites. And when you throw the 80s, New Wave and Reggae in, it's gets very confusing.
My favorite song right now is No Control by Pepper. I'm really into CKY right now. Gym Class Heroes is getting some decent play as well. I'll throw A Tribe Called Quest in here and there. The 30 Seconds to Mars CD is pretty good (A Beautiful Lie). And while people are entitled to their own opinion, Scott Stapp needs to be shot in the pancreas with armor-piercing ammunition. The new Daughtry song reminds me of earlier Creed. And I'll admit, I own My Own Prison, but I was young and dumb back then. I put Creed in the same light as Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance... I'm a Modest Mouse fan. The new song Dashboard is really good. Paralyzer by Finger Eleven is good as well. And Five Guys is the schiznit. Probably the best burger joint out there, with Red Robin a close second. |

Re: What are your favorites?
I'm too lazy to keep up with my Mp3 player so it's just collecting dust somewhere in my room. Even if I did use it I'd probably just end up listening to the same songs over and over again; so it wouldn't be much different than FM.

Re: What are your favorites?
I went the opposite way. Got the wife an Mp3 player and I got Sirius. Now have tons of great music at my finger tips without having to wade through commericals and shitty Clear Channel playlists. From the car player to my boombox for the beach to their Internet feed, it's great. Well worth the $12.95/month.

Re: What are your favorites?
Hate Creed or not, the guys in the band are incredible talented. I'd go as far as saying Mark Tremonti is THE BEST guitarist alive. Scott Phillips is a great drummer and Brian Marshall is one of the better bassists in music today. I understand if you don't like Stapp, he's a love/hate guy like PorterHouse (just kidding, PH). I saw them in concert with Jerry Cantrell in 2002 and they put on an amazing show. The first few songs, you really had to wonder if they weren't playing a CD, but they mixed in a lot of old and changed stuff in, so it was definately live. They weren't one of those bands who suck live, in fact, they're BETTER in person than on CD.
You probably hate them mainly because of the lead singer, so do yourself a favor and check out Alter Bridge. It's Creed's musicians with a different singer, but they do a lot more musically than Creed did, like Tremonti's guitar solos. Preview clips of songs, check out #5 especially: Amazon.com: One Day Remains: Music: Alter Bridge They have a new CD coming out late 2007 too. |

My favorite song by AB. Oh, ArtMonkDrillz, if you love Metallica, you'll like Alter Bridge, especially Metalingus. (#5) :) Then again, you DO like Eminem, so your taste IS questionable! :cheeky-sm |
Re: What are your favorites?
I don't know, I never found Creed's music to be anything revolutionary. Tremonti always struck me as a poser. But at least he's not a douche like Stapp. As far as him being the best guitarist alive, I'd have a very, very, very, very, (did I say very?), hard time buying that.

Re: What are your favorites?
I don't listen to today's music much at all. 70's music is my favorite. Funk, Rock, Pop, Disco, Soul, Motown... I love it all. "September" is probably my favorite song from that era.
Every now and then I listen to 80's rock/hair metal. Favorite bands are Queensryche and Tesla. Other favorites are: Allison Krauss Eva Cassidy (RIP) Gospel (Fred Hammond, Cece Winans, Ronnie Freeman) |

Is it just me or does people telling you you will like something give anyone else a predisposition to not like it?

Earth, Wind, and Fire! Very nice. I used to love Let's Groove Tonight when I was a kid. |
Re: What are your favorites?
Is it just me or does people telling you you will like something give anyone else a predisposition to not like it?
I agree. I am the worst at answering the question "do you think I will like [this]." This did not work for me all that well when I worked in retail during college. Customers would ask me for my opinion and I'd tell them about our daily specials.
I usually tell people that I like something and they should probably form their own opinion on it. |
