Thaddeus Young goes 12? I was expecting him to be around when the Zards pick.
Hell for that we'll go ahead and throw in Michael Ruffin to sweeten the deal.
Who do you take? Nick Young? Julian Wright? Stuckey? Byars? Belinelli? Jason Smith? Crittenton?

is Thorton going to be any good? He seemed like a beast in the games I saw him play against UMD, but I don't know how he did in other games.

Really torn. I don't know. I don't think you can go wrong with Byars, Young, Stuckey, or Almond. Even Belinelli. I'm not a fan of Jason Smith so I hope he's gone by then. Not that I'm not a fan, just don't think he fills a need. I wouldn't mind trading the pick (along with a player)
What is the story on Stuckey?
Solid combo guard. Not a strong outside shot but gets to the basket. Gets undervalued because of the level of his competition.

SmootSmack 06-28-2007 09:00 PM

Re: The Official 2007 NBA Draft Thread

Detroit is probably going to take Stuckey or Byars I imagine. There were some rumors about them taking Belinelli but I doubt it

I like that. I'd rather get a center, but obviously that wasn't happening so I'm happy taking a guard

tell me about it

So how about that Knicks/Blazers trade. Frye is a nice pickup for the Blazers. Randolph can ball but he could barely behave in Portland, how's he going to behave in NYC?

As for Franchise, 10 years ago he was bitching about starting his career in the Northwest. Now he may end it there. Good riddance to him

I think thats a great trade for NYK. They got rid of that huge contract that Stevie Franchise had......good move by Isiah. Wow I can't believe I just said that.

Heres a question for you SS, if you had to take one to be your GM, who would you take.....Isiah or Danny Ainge?

That might as well be the final nail in the coffin to Kobe's career in Los Angeles. Critt's as raw as they come.

I'll be conducting the train for Nick Young, boys... SC is in the house! Seriously, he's got a ridiculous fadeway that's near impossible to guard. Excellent from the line and can get to the rim (super athletic). He's a perfect fit with socal neighbor gilbert- they're going to be a solid backcourt for years to come (gil will re-up!).

We'll need a vet to start at the 2 for the upcoming season... I'm not sure you can throw Nick in there as a starter his rookie year and expect to contend for the East... not sure if signing DS to a 4-5 million contract extended over the next few seasons is necessary- b/c from what i've seen of young over the past three years, he's going to be our starter in the future (sooner rather than later).

Young's perfect for this system- he'll thrive in an up and down offense and he never runs out of gas. He's had several game winning clutch shots in college, and i can see him nailing a few off of gilbert drives in the nba. Plus he can sky. His offensive game is much, much better than DS's (although DS probably has a better man defensive game at this point). Young can create his own shot and get to the rim.

They could keep Stevenson for the MLE. I see Young more as a replacement off the bench for Hayes. Stevenson, as you say, gives you some D. He could be expendable though if the Zards take DJ at #47. But with Gasol and Gray still on the board, they could go big. Or they could go really small and get a backup point guard/replacement for Antonio Daniels in Taurean Green.

Gasol has big upside but very raw. I lean toward Gray at #47 if he's there

I'd be happy with Green or Gray. Gasol does have upside, but I think we've cultivated enough youth and now it's time to find role pieces that can play now. If we can keep DS for MLE money, that'd be cool. Young's going to definitely be that spark off the bench- we need more than the big three scoring. He'll need to work on his D for sure though. That's where I'd be scared, especially with our current coaching philosophy.

With the #47 the Wizards select Dominic McGuire

Re: The Official 2007 NBA Draft Thread

Looks like this guy can block... he averaged a swat a game at the 3 in college. Pretty good boards too, but his FT percentage is ben wallace-like. Looks like we're drafting for roles instead of need (which is a good thing).
