I got it on the PS3 and while it is not getting the reviews of the XBOX version it was still a considerable upgrade over Madden 07 on any console. I imagine that by next year both versions will be neck and neck. PS3 will have had time to catch up by then. I do not play any games other than NCAA and MADDEN so it's not that big of a deal to me.

Many people question why SONY waited to put out the PS3, and many of you may wonder why I purchased a more expensive PS3. Well, from my experience the company that holds out longer eventually ends up putting out a better product in the long run. ie Dreamcast came out before PS2 and now the XBOX 360 came out before the PS3. BTW, I was one of the fools that reserved and got the Dreamcast when it first came out. Since then, I have refused to make the same mistake twice. In the event that I am wrong about this, I will accecpt defeat and give up on trying to predict the better product.

the only problem with that argument in my opinion is the that the Dreamcast was the vastly superior system of it's generation, but because of the way Sega marketed it, it having a bit of a weak starting lineup not unlike the PS3, and it not being able to playback DVDs caused it to fall behind the PS2, GC, and X-Box.

As for Madden, this years version crushes the past few years of Madden. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is smooth, and finally actually has some features again. The AI is much improved as well, but as others have stated in the Turnovers thread, I've repeatedly had players from opposing defenses somehow grab an int that there was no physically possible way for them to do so. And I am getting a bit annoyed that on practically every punt return ARE fumbles the ball. overall though a much needed step up from EA's recent blunders.

the dreamcast was made for 2d... the playstation was made for 3d. that's what happened there.

08's cool... the superstar is vastly improved, some nice additions etc... they made spin moves work like crap in that rookie running drill though for some reason... in the real part of the game it still works fine though.

the PS3 will ruin Sony. the only "exclusive" games they had went out th window a WHILE ago. any "devil may cry" fans here? ya, thats for 360. Any "metal gear solid" fans? yup. 360 too. Sony is boned. Microsoft has enough money to create another system, hype it 3 times as much as the PS3, have it FLOP WORSE THAN PS3 and still have enough money to build a small country our of 100 dollar bills.

I got my copy off Madden 08 for the PS2 yesterday, and honestly i'm disappointed. In years past whatever new feature they put in the game I usually liked, but there's nothing in this year's version that really makes me want to play the game. It seems like they just ignored the current gen consoles and decided to slap some shit in there just to say they didn't ignore it. That new feature where you build the ring honestly looks dumb, it's just something they added for show. I'm disappointed to say that I don't recommend getting the current gen version for anyone, unless you just want to get it for the roster updates (for those of us who can't play online).

Yeah they are phasing out current gen. They werent even supposed to release a copy this year, but changed their mind at the last minute.

About the only cool thing I can say about madden PS2 is the ability to play wr before the snap, back in the day me and my buddies would play and I was always TE or WR so it's nice to be able to do that again, although I tend to call for it everytime ha ha, I'm torn though cause I rented it right now but I have to buy it if I want online don't know if Im impressed enough for $50

currently it's PS3 exclusive but Konami's president has made multiple comments on bringing the franchise to multiple systems to make atleast [I]some[/I] money off of the title. I think it'll be sweet but it's not the savior of the PS3 some seem to think it is, just cause while the series has always had great gameplay, the stories have just gotten more and more insanely bizarre and at times pretty f-ing confusing. don't know if MGS4 is gonna go 360 but I bet the newly announced MG online does.

It just might be the last version for the old gen, so it's not surprising that it's disappointing.

The 360 one rocks though, best one in a very long time.
