My position on the defense has not changed from a month ago. I still worry about this unit. What the preseason has shown is encouraging, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. The pass defense will definately improve though (with 100% certainty).
There's no way the defense won't be better than last year. I'm thinking we're going to see a huge statiscal jump as well. They're faster and frankly, a little more stout in the middle.

You never say never, but I just don't see Rogers dropping that many ints this year, and for the most part he was usually in position to make a play on the ball. Yeah, we'll be good on that side of the ball.
What did you say a month ago?
While I do not feel we will rival the Ravens, I feel our LB's get better, and our Secondary is twice, if not 3 times better than it was last year. Sure our up front 4 is weak, but with a strong secondary, and good lb's coupled with a healthy front 4, we should be a 5-10 defense this year.
Pass D will be much improved. Run defense will regress, but I don't know how much. But we should force a lot more turnovers and the defense should get a lot better than last year because of it. I forsee a middle of the pack defense, maybe between 18-22 in the league.

Combined with a top half offense, it should be good enough for 9 wins.

I think the run defense will significantly improve. How do you figure we'll regress from what 31 or 32? Just London Flethcher's presence alone is worth a few more tackles behind the line of scrimage.

Well, I respect that opinion, but I feel you're not understanding the significance of the LB play. Fletcher is a run stopping machine. With a completely renovated secondary, that will free up the LB's to do more blitzes and shy closer to line, while last year we needed every man, including the sideline judges to try to stop the pass.
I agree our run defense will be our biggest issue on the D, but it will amaze you to see how much better they will get BECAUSE the secondary is fixed.
If we're sitting at 18-22, Williams needs to be fired.

Why thank you.

That commercial sure is goofy, but it makes me want a Snickers. And it makes me want someone to sing me a song while I eat it.

It also makes me think about going tubing on a river of caramel.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

I think we're going to measure up real well in run defense, frankly. Golston has put on weight, and our LBs are light years better than they were last season. Rocky is the real deal, and there's a reason Fletcher has the most tackles in the NFL over the last 6 years. Dude has a nose for the ball and is great at fighting through and avoiding blockers.

For me, run defense was the biggest question mark at the end of our season last year, but now I'm fully convinced it's fixed. Conversely, I felt great about the offensive line's ability to run block at the end of last season, and right now I see that as our biggest question mark. Kendall needs to get up to speed and on the same page in a hurry.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

I'm still very skeptical about our o-line, but I think we'll be able to pull out 9 wins. We're in a tough division... so I think we sneak into the wild card in the final game vs. Dallas.

I feel like we will win 12+ games this year. I have no evidence supporting such claims just that I am happy when the Redskins win. So I want them to win a lot, like 12+ times.

Final 724Skinsfan prediction: 13 - 3 with the 3 losses by a field goal. Even if i'm wrong at least it made me feel good thinking about it.

7-1 at home huh? And losing to our bitch thet cards? doubt that. We could lose to both the Bills and the Bears though.
Really, I feel good about our schedule. With the exception of the Patriots, only the Bears will be a really tough team for those non division teams.

I could also see losing to the Bears and beating the Bucs, but who knows. I hope the Skins reel off 6, 7, or 8 wins in a row straight out of the gate, but with limited starters in the preseason I doubt thats a reality. However they get there, I take em to go 10-6.

I mean, we're going to win a game or two were supposed to lose, and lose a couple we "should have" won.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

I think this team will be 8-8 or 9-7, only because of our weak D-Line, its the only weakness on the whole team. We cant rely on our DB'S to get pressure on a consistent basis. But we have a pretty solid team.

11-5 or better. It's all about team chemistry from here on out. The plays MUST be second nature by now. Have A good one!

I disagree with your weakness assesment. In my opinion the weakness of the Skins is the O line. I think that the D will be solid from the line through the Linebackers and the secondary. Expect a top 5 defense. The Capital Defense is back!

I know this will sound "homey", but we could be 6-0 when we face the Patriots. Dolphins / Eagles / Giants / Lions / Packers / Cards are all beatable teams. I do not think the Eagles are that tough this year...of course I have said this in the years past and been wrong.

I think the eagles can beat us any year even if they have a bad team, its the nature of the NFC Ease... remember all the times when the cards were in our division and beat us just for the sake of the Skins shouldnt lose to them, and we did so many times. Hell the Cards beat all of the NFC east with exceptionaly random order

I think we will be 9-7 and make the playoffs. We will make a nice playoff run and have a chance to make some noise. I usually the eternal Redskins optimist. Trying something different this year.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

9-7. I say 10-6 every year and we end up sucking. I am going to temper my enthusiasm this season and see if it changes anything. I hate big disappointments. On top of that, I do not see much depth with our team in terms of the defensive backfield and Wr corp. WE are screwed if JC goes down even for like a 3-4 week period.

11-5. Defense finishes in the top 5. Portis and Betts both finish with 1,000 yards.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

We will be better--but only by a few games: 7-9.

I think we'll be 5-5 outside the NFC East but 2-4 within it. I think the Iggles and Boys are both better teams than us.

I am thinking 10-6 as well, but how do you say the backfield is lacking in depth...if anything, its our deepest position on the field. That includes offense and defense.

10 - 6, in the playoffs.

Wins: Miami, NYG, Detroit, GB, Philly, Tampa, Buffalo, NYG, Minn, Dallas

Potential Losses: @ Philly, Arizona, @ NE, @ NY Jets, @ Dallas, Chicago

Arizona and Chicago at home could easily be wins. As long as we stay healthy, based on our schedule, I'm feeling pretty good....but like many of us, I am an eternal Skins optimist. Unfortunately over the last 14 years or so our optimism hasn't worked out for the most part.

I feel 11 wins if not more from this team, our D is solid and with some work our O will get a lot better.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

As much as I want to be optimistic for this team, I just don't think we are going to be able to get into the playoffs this year or break .500. We are either going to go 7-9 or 8-8 which in my eyes would be a great season as long as we show improvement. Honestly, we don't have much of a receiving core, who knows if Clinton can stay healthy (that's not really a much of a concern thanks to Ladell), and I think our defense will be amazing but what doesn't matter if we can't get the ball down the field once we are on offense.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

8-8. Threre'll be improvement from last year, but not enough. Campbell will have growing pains, the run defense will be sufficient, then they'll wear out by the end of the season.

I'm concerned about the O-line and the D-line, the wideouts, the secondary. The pieces just aren't all there yet.

8-8. We're better, and Id say playoffs barring injury, but there is always an injury or two.

I think we'll really have a much better idea after week 1. I'm really not going to set my expectations for the season until I see both our starting units for four quarters against someone else's starting units...I do think we are definitely an improved team....but I'm going to wait until I see how improved we are for 60 minutes...I think we have the potential to be VERY improved, but I want to wait and see.

10-6 and the playoffs. If we sweep Dallas, we'll go 11-5 and win the division.
