Or blocked and recovered behind the line of scrimmage, but yeah I was mistaken about getting another try after a missed field goals. Was that ever a rule? I'm still satisfied with going ahead and kicking it rather chance a turnover.

You are incorrect sir.
7- All players of offensive team must be stationary at snap, except one back who may be in motion parallel to scrimmage line or backward (not forward).

There were two players moving, and one moving forward.

or possibly get another PI, Holding, false start or some other penalty or even a loss of ydg.
Oh yeah I missed one. What the hell was up with us getting that B.S false start on the exact same motion play that we drew the other team offsides in the preseason. That exact same shift was not a penalty in the pre-season so why is it a penalty now?
differnt refs, that was def bs,I'm sure that play was designed to do that,Gibbs needs to get clarification from the nfl on that

Like i said the way that is worded says all players must be stationary at snap. except that one. the ball was never snapped so basically this rule doesnt apply. Though Coach did say he told the Refs that he had a "NO PLAY" Play called and that if they didnt jump offsides he was going to call a time out.

Only cause he hit it...if he missed it, and they got the ball with decent field position and came down to beat us, then what would you be saying.
Gibbs made 3 piss poor calls, but luckily they all ended well for us...can't do that often.

Kind of reminds me of all the confusion from that Packers game back in 2004 when Portis had that great TD, only to be called back on a Thrash illegal motion.

in which #8 After a shift or huddle all players on offensive team must come to an absolute stop for at least one second with no movement of hands, feet, head, or swaying of body.

which could apply here would have to look at replay

yeah i remember that , if im not mistaking Thrash was still in motion, which by rule was legal, they said he went forward or something

Like I said, good to know Suisham can hit an important 39 yarder. Kudos to Joe for showing confidence in his kicking game.

What the hell...

Smoot starts over Springs?????? They threw at him all day long...

Kicking the fg on 1st down in ot...a 40 yarder...glad we made it.

Btw...I thought Lloyd made a pretty good effort to try to catch the endzone pass. It just went over his hands. Not that i'm a big Lloyd supporter but you've GOT to have a qb to throw him the ball. Campbell missed a number of throws. Only week 1 though.

I had a real prick Dolphins fan at the sports bar today, sadly I didn't hear his obnoxious voice after we kicked the field goal to end the game.

Seemed like the only time Springs played was as Nickle back and when Smoot would get dinged. Weirdo for sure.
Someone mentioned this in another thread,

But ST and Landry, where the hell where you guys? It seemed like you all were nowhere near the players. I guess this becomes more of a what the hell for GW.
I think this was a function our LBs being 100% better than last year. I think ST led the team in tackles in like 13 games last year. The other three were like 1 LB and 2 other Safties. This game our LBs were making the tackles. That is good.

Cowell 09-09-2007 09:47 PM

Re: The week 1 "what the hell?" thread

I think the safeties weren't much of a factor because they were going with short passes and runs up the middle a lot. When our safeties played deep they didn't throw deep.

They made the call, which in itself made little sense, and I said aloud to everyone around. "That f*cking John Riggins keeps jumping out of the booth and f*cking us every year." Dumb ass refs. The funny thing was watching them call the penalty on us then watching everyone reset to punt over and watching the one ref who threw the flag about 60 yards downfield looking around like "WTF?". Then he sprints up field and blows the whistle and waves his rams like an idiot. Classic.

I wonder if he had to help or simply wanted to help his dad get to Dallas. Drop him off at the airport or whatever. Sometimes you break the rules for a good reason but from a management perspective you still need to be punished.

My comment is "what the hell" are you guys complaining about. We physically abused them and won the game. If you are looking for style points you need to follow another team.

Re: The week 1 "what the hell?" thread

0 penalties in the first half and like 6 penalties in the second half, WTH? how does a team just become so undisciplined.

Also this WTH doesn't pertain to the Skins game, but I want to make a point of it nonetheless, because I feel it was horrible officiating. In the Bears-Chargers game, the Chargers had the ball on like the Bears 2 yard line, and one of the Bears jumped the snap really early, like there was no doubt in my mind that he started before the rest of the players started. Then everyone started moving and at the end of it, the Bears player had the ball and was saying it was a fumble by the Chargers and the Bears had recovered. The refs talked it over for a while and the Bears got to keep the ball, even though it was plain and clear that one of the Bears had jumped pre-snap and had gotten a hold of the ball when everyone started moving. I believe that was one of the worst officiating calls I've seen, and even though it didn't cost the Chargers the game, it's still something that shouldn't happen again.

Also I want to say Fred Smoot WTH? How many times have you done the interception drill and this time you let the ball hit your chest and bounce off? If we had lost the game I would be extremely pissed at that, but because we won I'm only disappointed in him. Also his play was not good today, and I seriously want to see him as the nickel corner from now on. If what Smootsmack is saying about Springs not starting because of disciplinary problems, then I hope he doesn't have any more for the rest of the season because we really need him back there. While our run defense is extremely stout, our pass defense still isn't what it should be.

If we were playing a team better than Miami we very easily could've lost this game. We play Philly next week, and if we play like that next week expect to lose. If we want to be contenders this season we must improve our play.

Yeah, this was definitely a very bizarre game. We need to step it up on offense if we want to compete with Philli.

I also thought it was pretty hilarious when Ladell Betts trucked Chris Samuels. What the hell was that?

Well, it's cause of our mishaps. Too many penalties and dropped balls...we correct those, and I think we played well enough to beat anyone.

What's with the 8 yard cushion given to receivers? What the hell is with Carlos "Toast" Rogers giving up a TD to a 2nd string tight end? And then getting abused by Chambers in the 4th quarter? WHAT THE HELL?

You could say the same for the Dolphins...If they would have caught half of their dropped passes.

Hey, no question we were the more physical team, but you've got to put up more than 13 pts. Like i said though, only the 1st game.

Re: The week 1 "what the hell?" thread

I mentioned this in the "Ugly" thread...nothing to do directly with the game...but

WTH was up with Deirdorf and Gumble in the thrid quarter...I've never seen two announcers sniffing a Head Coaches jock the way those two guys were over Cam Cameron...by the time that was over with, you would have thought he was Bill Walsh or something...I mean shy didn't they just come out of the booth and go down on the field and start sucking him off for christsakes...WTH?
