Jesus Christ guys there is no such thing as a moral victory in this league. We lost against a top tier team. We shouldn't be happy or proud with losing. I've love this team and i can't take the losing anymore.

We deserved to win that game today. Too bad JC didn't just take off with the ball instead of forcing the bad throw at the end. He kicked ass and looked very cool back there. Only really bad things I got from the game was now I question the quality and depth of our secondary. No ST certainly hurt, but that 52 yarder TD by TO made Springs look really bad. I mean Prioleau should have done a better job at having Springs' back on that, but Shawn just let him blow by him. We need to draft more CBs I think next year. Nice job by Rocky with that almost INT also. I thought he had it. With the exception of the Giants I t hink we will win the rest of the games. Dallas is going to sit guys out for the 2nd round against us if they beat GB and run the table. They will have secured homefield advantage even if they lose to us.

Springs [I]is supposed[/I] to release the WR after 15 yards or so. Each Safety is responsible for one half of the field beyond 15 yards or so, and the MLB drops to guard the deep middle. My only knock on Springs on that play is that he stopped running back the help Prioleau when nobody else was in his short zone for him to defend.

You make a great point about the 2nd Dallas game - if they have home field wrapped up, I can't imagine that they'll bring the same intensity that the Skins will if we're playing for a wild card.

Total agreement here. Having been a Skins fan since the early 80s, it amazes me how jaded Skins fans nowadays are. Mediocrity and losing "close games" are now acceptable?

This is Dallas...the ultimate enemy of any Redskin fan. Losing to them is NEVER a good loss...NEVER a moral victory. There's no such thing. This team has now lost two straight games in disappointing finishes to two hated rivals...and people are pleased??? Throw in the NYG loss from earlier this season and you're looking at 3 games the Redskins should have won. They're also 5-5 now in the WC game with difficult games ahead. Losing playoff position is ok too??

Yes there were injuries and other factors...yes they went into Dallas and lost a close game. But they still lost a very winnable game. I guess you all loved seeing Romo's silly, &%$@-eating grin over and over splashed on Fox. I guess it's ok to see TO running wild and mugging it up for the crowd at our expense since it's a MORAL victory...

Man...times have changed...I'm so mad I want to go throw a brick...no, a wheelbarrow full of bricks at anything with a Dallas star on it...and some folks here are ok with losing. Didn't used to be that way.

I'm proud of the coaching staff for letting Jason use his abilities.

I'm proud of Santana Moss for finally showing up. I know this season has been hard on him (and us), and I'm glad he turned in a nice game.

I'm proud of a lot of the overall offensive execution.

I'm also pissed at a few things:
Did we really only run the ball 4 times in the second half? I heard Ray Brown say that stat after the game. We were throwing well, and I'm glad, but we should have used some of that throwing success to set up a few more runs. I'm not suggesting we should have run it 25 times in the second half, but maybe 10-12 would have helped our pace.

We still struggle like crazy to get it in the endzone. Despite 400+ yards of offense on the road, we had numerous drives stall out. Field goals don't win games, and we're seeing it over and over.

Exactly. Great post.

It's okay to look at a loss and say, hey, we did a few things really well. I think everyone was happy to see JC pick apart a very good team on the road. But there are no "moral" victories when playing the Cowboys. You win or you lose. Unfortunately we were on the latter end of that equation today.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone would try to spin this angle.

Personally I'm not "ok with losing".

But overall, I feel that there were a lot of positives to take away from this game. We don't need to walk away from this game with our heads down, the team went all out, played a damn good game, and lost. Sometimes you can put forth a great effort and still lose.

I'm not ok with losing, I'm simply proud of the overall effort I saw today. They are two completely separate things, don't confuse the two.

Exactly, I haven't read anyone post 'I'm happy that we lost' or 'It's ok we lost because we played well' but as opposed to the NYG or PHI losses where we played not to lose and did anyways or the NE game where we got our doors blown off or the GB game where we played poorly and lost to a team we should have beaten, this was a tough, well played, well coached game and we got beat by a better team.

There have been 2 games where I felt we weren't the better team on the field, NE and today. Doesn't make either loss any less infuriating but at least we didn't give yet another game to an inferior opponent.

Well said. Hard to argue with our effort. I'm pissed at missing opportunities again against a division rival in the second half. But it's not like it was the NE game. We hung with probably the 2nd best team in the league in their house and were it not for a bad pick (beating ourselves) we very well may have won, despite being injury riddled.

Now, granted I am younger, too young to have witnessed the Redskins when they were great, but that does not mean as a result I am willing to settle for mediocrity.

I was there to boo Heath Shuler off the field, I was there calling for Norvs head, I was there to realize that Patrick Ramsey wasn't our QB of the future, I was there to curse Dan Snyder for trying to buy a championship by picking up overrated/overpaid over the hill players, I was there to see the likes of Deion Sanders where a Redskins uniform.

And not only have I had plenty to criticize, but I have seen mediocrity through my entire fanhood....and someone believes they are more frustrated then I am?

My father teased my last week saying I was on the verge of tears as a sulked walking through the parking lot of FedEx, and to be quite truthful I was. I have been a diehard Kool Aid drinking Redskins fan my whole life, and have seen nothing better then mediocrity. Hell most the Skins teams I have cheered for over the years have down right sucked ass.

And then, something incredible happened, Joe Gibbs (the legendary coach my father always told me of) came back to my beloved franchise, and for the first time in my 21 years I see a team that is on the brink of being a dynamic competitor, and dare I say a dynasty. With the likes of Jason Campbell, Clinton Portis, Cooley, Moss, Randel El, Mike Sellers, Sean Taylor, Landry, MacIntosh, Montgomery, Carter.... this team could be very very very good very very soon.

Was todays loss upsetting, of course it is any fan with burgundy and gold coursing through their veins is disgusted seeing the likes of TO dunking a football through the goalposts after tearing up your crippled secondary. In fact, half an hour after the game was over I was still trembling from the intense frustration of what I witnessed.

But if you cannot see that JC's effort today was a glimpse of a bright bright future for the Washington Redskins, then you have simply been jaded by the mediocrity we have become accustomed to. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, its a little ways off, but it is steadily growing brighter. And you know what? For the first time in my life, after witnessing a heart wrenching loss to our most hated rival I can hold my head high and wear my Jersey tomorrow with pride, and that makes all the woes Ive witnessed over the years 100% worth it. Long live Jason Campbell. HAIL!

The Redskins played pretty well today. We can take some encouragement from the improving offense. The defense seems to be moving in the other direction but hopefully when Taylor returns they can steady themselves enough for us to make a final push. Hats off to Fabini, Wade, and Heyer. I haven't looked at the game again yet but my first impression was that they held up well considering we threw the ball 50+ times. Either or that or Dallas' front seven took the day off because they looked much less agressive than they have in other games with the exception of Ware who I thought got away with an offsides. The refs need to tighten that up. You're either onside or your not and some of these guys seem to be getting a pass when it's borderline. Also hats off to McCardell. I want him in there from now on regardless of who's healthy. He gets open and is surprisingly agile for someone of such advanced age.

Also, it occurred to me that Tony Romo slightly resembles the professional poker player Phil Hellmuth. Either that or I'm looking for reasons to dislike him. He's pretty damn good. It's too bad we couldn't capitalize on those throws where he tries to squeeze it. Like Favre he seems to give you a few chances like that. I guess we'll have to learn how to deal with him soon if we want to contend in the division in the next few years.

Wow. JC looked like a first round pick should. That interception was under duress, on the move, across his body and Aikman said that Randle El should have been running a flatter rout. All you can ask is to have a chance to win it in the end. We did. Missing ST was huge. HUGE. No way is that the same game as if he was playing. No way.

I'm sitting here watching the Redskins post game locker room interviews. Marcus Washington said it best. If the Big man was out there in the back field TO would have had his head on a swivel. I am upset with the loss. Don't get me wrong here guys, but at the same time WE Played Our GUTS OUT!! Long live the hurry up offense. Give JC the reigns and let him play. He showed Gibbs today and last week that he can run the offense. Gibbs will definetaly be letting the kid play here on out basically becuase he trusts Jason to make plays. We must keep this offensive intesity that they have showed the last 2 weeks. Gibbs has to keep it in JC's hands and let him read the defenses. This is what makes Peyton so great. And what will make our guy great.

To those out there that think that the guys who are impressed with our teams play even in a loss, are not fans and like to see us lose to our hated rival.You are wrong we all want to win every Sunday. And except for the Patriots game we could have won every other game. That is something to be excited about. And we finally have a QB of the future. We are going to be a dominant team in the future and hopefully a good team for years to come.

I'm damn sure not happy with a loss but face it,as bad as losing sux you have to be happy with JC.

you cant get on campbell too much about leading his receivers when he has to throw to various WR's each week in practice due to injuries..It tough to transition leading santana moss, to leading james thrash. I like the 20 yard flies on the sideline to moss, sitting underneath the safties..thats a timing route that if moss stays healthy is there 100% of time...I LOVE THIS TEAM AND AM SICK OF THEM LOSING TOO!! but i think there are moral victories..and stopping them 3 and out getting the ball back and having a chance to win late after giving up 4 big playsd to TO shows character...

Santana is back!! JC looked pretty good. I'd like to murder TO. Hopefully ST will do the evil deed for me on Dec. 30th in landover. We will see them again...at home. Now we have to beat the bucs who won 31-0 yesterday. No easy task

You can certainly say the Redskins left it all on the field yesterday. They fought their guts out and just came up a bit short. A play or 2 going the Skins way, and we all could be celebrating a victory today.

I think this loss doesn't hurt as much because it's a game we all expected the Skins to lose. 8-1 Cowboys that is knocking teams over at will against a 5-4 Redskins team that can't close the deal. Watching them play the way they did makes taking the loss that much easier.

As far as Campbell goes, while some says he choked, I can't quite get on that bandwagon for this simple fact: 33-54, 348 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT. He had a great day, one of the best by a Redskins QB in a long while, and while some of his throws were a bit errant, he gave this team a chance to win the game. That pick late could have very well happened to any QB in the league.

However, that being said, the Redskins are now in a stretch where 1 loss can potentially knock them out of the playoffs. They have to play to their full potential from here on out and limit mistakes. The secondary has to step up without Taylor. The offensive line has to continue to provide ample protection for Campbell. And Campbell needs to hit the open targets in the numbers...

I agree, it's a cop out to say that he choked without looking at the big picture and taking into consideration what he did all day. He continues to impress the hell out of me and he's really taking his game to another level. The scary part is he still has a lot of room to improve.

i thought they would get blown out big time yesterday,and i'm so proud they proved me so wrong!i think this redskins team is almost a mirror image of the 2005 team that lost to seattle.if they play like they did at dallas yesterday,they will not lose another game this season.the skins had both of the two top teams in the nfc on the ropes this season,and
just did not make the plays to get the victories.i think that washington will beat tampa bay next week,and lay an ass whipping on buffalo the week after.no matter what their record is,washington is the 3rd best team in the nfc,and if all those expert commentators can't see that,then f**k them all,and the jackasses they rode into town on!!!!!!!!

I haven't had the time to review each and every post since yesterday's game, so I'll be brief. I too am very proud of our team. We played the Cowpokes much closer than I imagined and for once recently, it was an exciting game to watch. We were competitive and had a shot at the win. That is all you could really ask for considering the condition the Redskins are currently in. However, and I see that it's already been mentioned, JC lost the game for us. But, I'm extremely encouraged about his development. I believe we finally have our franchise QB in place and he continues to improve each week. The guy is money and we could point at many other areas of this game that could have provided the opportunity to clinch the win (i.e.- Cooley's dropped pass, etc.). Let's just hope that the 'Skins aren't as accepting of this loss as we here on the Warpath are and continue to play agressively.
