It's a damn shame. They are so young. Young black men killing other young black men. I'm glad that I made the choices that I made in life to keep myself from turning into a statistic. I can only pray for their families. Hopefully they can turn their lives around but I honestly don't see them making it in prison that long. They shouldn't have tried to steal what wasn't theirs. They shouldn't have killed that man, they shouldn't have killed Sean Taylor. Not saying I wish they would've died that night but I wish the good guy had won that fight. I just hope the good guys win the war.
Hail To The Redskins............Hail Sean Taylor !
I am struggling with something and I hope that someone here can help me. I have heard various sentiments that are similar to this. Why is it worse that it is black guys that are accused of this horrible crime? Part of Wilbonehead's commentary was "black on black crime." I understand that the majority of murder victims are killed by another member of their own race (this is true across the board according to FBI statistics). But is it any better or worse that his murderer is of a certain racial background? If any good can come of this then let it be that we all stand together outraged at whoever commited this crime not seperate along racial divides. Sports gives us a chance to unite (black guys cheer for Cooley, white guys cheer for Moss and we all cheer for SmootSmack). I hope whoever did this is executed. |

I feel worse now than I did at any point this week, this development doesn't bring me closer as it just brings me despair. I read just about every article written, from Whitlock to Wilbon and even the DC Sports Bog report on what Cowturd said, and while this proves just about all of them wrong it brings me nothing because Sean Taylor is still gone. And what's the lesson in this? Somebody please help me, because I'm just about losing my mind over this.

As a Buccaneer fan my heart is with Redskin nation! I lived in North Virginia for 10 years and became friends with a lot of Skin fans.
Sean Taylor, R.I.P! You were coming into your own my friend! I'm glad that they found the killers and I hope they let everyone in the prison know that they orphaned a child and ended the career of a stellar defensive back that was only 24 years old and working his way to elite status! Doesn't this whole thing just make football look so small in comparison! My prayers are with his family and with all of you in the Skin nation because I know how I would feel if one of mine fell this way in a senseless crime! God, I'm sooooooo mad! Although I'm a Bucs fan I graduated from U of Miami in '01 and Taylor is a Cane. Nuff said! They'll go to prison but that won't be the justice that they'll serve. They killed one of the good guys and they'll pay for it. |

Well as a black man it hurts me to see young black men killing one another. After all the shit that went on in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Other black people were killed ( Medgar Evers, MLK, Vernon Dahmer) so I have the right to vote, go to good schools, eat at nice restaurants, stay in nice hotels. Just basic civil rights. I guess you have to be black to understand. So when I see these pieces of shit killing another black man that's made it, it makes me sick and angry. They just have no sense of history and it comes from the household. But regardless these thugs need to be put to death. I'm tired of this shit. I'm tired of all the black on black crime. Everyday I can pick up the newspaper and see another innocent victim being carjacked or killed. Especially here in DC. Except this time it's a famous athlete that we all root for. But the reality is it happens all the time. |

Re: Police Detain 4, Look for 1 More (Shooter Confesses, Video of Assailants, Motive)
All those who have said or suggested that Sean's murder was the result of "his past catching up with him" need to offer a public apology and acknowledge how completely wrong they were.
I also wish that folks would not fall in to the trap of speaking about the killers as though they were victims too. Why is it necessary to pretend that Taylor's death and the fate that awaits these awful men are somehow part of the same pathology? Taylor died a hero defending his girlriend, his baby, and his home. He died righteuosly and with honor. These others are filthy predators who need at the very least to be locked away from the rest of humanity so that their contempt for simple decency can no longer terrorize society. If people are wondering how you begin to turn the tide on violent crime, I say begin there. Let us make our contempt for this human effluence loud and clear. Let us hold Sean Taylor's final moments up as a model for how real men behave, and let us never, ever confuse the two. |

There needs to be more public outrage over the senseless shootings that occur in our cities every day.
As for Wilbon, he owes nothing less than a retraction of his column earlier this week. He made it sound as if Taylor's past lifestyle choices set himself up for his demise. Now we know that his past had NOTHING to do with this. This wasn't some sort of retribution. It was a cold, senseless murder in a robbery gone bad, and for that, Mr. Wilbon's retraction should treat Sean as the completely innocent victim that he was. |

Go back and read SGG's post on the Florida murder statutes. This will most likely be tried as a capital case unless there's a plea deal to a lesser included offense. Rivera is a juvenile, but I believe his case could be bound over to Superior Court and he would be tried as an adult. One thing I don't like about Florida law is that they only apply Second Degree Murder to everyone involved except the one who actually pulled the trigger. In NC, we have an element in our laws called "acting in concert", which means if you were involved in the offense, you are treated just as if you committed the murder yourself. It's still too early to say what exactly these individuals will be indicted with. If this get to trial on a first degree murder charge, I doubt if a jury will recommend the death penalty. Mostly because of the defendant's age. |

Perhaps Sean's lasting tribute will be a growing intolerance for perpetrators of gun violence. There needs to be more public outrage against criminals who have taken the streets of our cities. I just hope that Sean's death will not be in vain, and that it sparks some real collective soul searching that results in less gun violence.
That the killers have been found will make the league-wide tributes even more poignant given Taylor's heroic defense of his girlfriend and daughter. |

I also believed that a single murder could only be considered a capital crime if it was a cop, servicemember, or government official. Apparently, a murder in conjunction with an armed robery is a capital crime as well. |

Each state has the right to define "capital murder," within the limits of the 8th Amendment. Florida does not mess around with criminals. Like many states, Florida has pretty strict murder statutes when it comes to murders committed during the course of the commission of a felony. |
Re: UPDATE: Four Arrested in Taylor's Death
It's so agonizing to think about. I mean if only he had been with the team on Sunday (even in street clothes on the sidelines), and it's not like the team was way out in Seattle or something like that. They were just a few hours away in Tampa.
But then I think if he wasn't there the suspects might have shot and killed his g/f or heaven forbid his daughter in a panic instead. Just an awful situation all around. |
Re: UPDATE: Four Arrested in Taylor's Death
Turn on the electric, get the bucket of water ready, and trap those fuckers in. It's time to fry some scum-bags. Listen guys this sounds harsh but you know what these guys should get tried like adults and put to death. Even if they didn't want to kill him they shouldn't be invading someone's home. I don´t care that much about the sentence. I just want them locked up in a nice facility with lots of ´Canes/Redskins fans and lax supervision. Re: UPDATE: Four Arrested in Taylor's Death
I know this isn't going to be a popular position to take, but the fact that every one of these bastards is basically a teenager, *IS* a tragedy as well. So much was made of the mistakes that Taylor supposedly made in his life, and the fact that he had begun to figure things out, and then you look at these kids and it's pretty clear nobody has ever gotten through to them.
Those myspace pictures are really sad to me, personally. Thing is, my friends and I did a lot of stupid shit in my teenage years, some of which we foolishly took ridiculous pictures of ourselves doing. In my case it was vandalizing street signs, shoplifting from a place we all worked, driving out to vacant fields to get drunk, etc.. I'm not proud of those things, but we did them, and we got away with them. Eventually we realized, "hey, I have a future to think about, college to think about, I could have gotten arrested, gotten killed in a car accident driving drunk, or hurt someone else" and we straightened the hell up. Now, I'm not saying the things these kids have done deserve any kind of excuse, because there's a line you cross when you pull the trigger of a gun (and frankly, the moment you start carrying one). But, what I am saying is, it's not too hard of a stretch for me to imagine these kids being, at their core, just a bunch of really stupid teenagers with no respect for morals, values, or what's important in life. (The really heartbreaking thing for me watching those photos scroll by is the one picture of a child with the caption "my son" followed by a picture of this douchebag sitting on the curb with his boys looking baked out of his mind). These kids weren't stone cold career criminals, but they are probably a perfect specimen showing how stone cold career criminals are formed. |
Re: UPDATE: Four Arrested in Taylor's Death
I will also add that catching these scumbags is cold comfort to the Taylor family, the Redskins organization, and to Redskins fan nation. But, like others, I want to hear Wilbon, Shapiro, and Cowturd choke down some crow now that the truth most of us believed would come out, finally has.
We should write a letter to the editor of the Post. |

No arguments with any of this. I could be entirely wrong about those 4 kids, but my guess is that based on the fact that they turned themselves in, rather than, say, leading police on a wild chase while shooting at anybody who crossed them, these kids were less hardened criminals and more stupid knuckleheads who thought they could "get paid". They must still deal with the consequences, though. Some mistakes simply can't be smoothed over. |
Re: UPDATE: Four Arrested in Taylor's Death
Wut a bunch of trash, they give this crack head POS a job and invite him to a birthday party and this is wut he gives in return... 17 18 19 20 year old kids.... Sean must have had something very valuable in his bedroom... If they didnt go there to kill, then why the F#(K did they need a gun???????!!!!!!.... Excuse my language but I am extremely upset that Sean was probably killed over some trinkets and cash.... I hate gangsters, thugs and anyone that glorifies being a thug or "gangsta" Everyone seriously needs to chill out, be happy with what God gave them, and not be envious of what others have... You have to earn things in life.... you cant steal them and you cant expect it to be given to you..... GET OUT THERE AND START EARNING PEOPLE AND STOP STEALING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP THE VIOLENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
