No big deal - can't blame you at all for what you did. Given that the guy grabbed your girl and she fell, you can definitely argue self defense.

At least where I live, you'd be guilty of Simple Assault at the very worst. Depending on the officer you might walk away with nothing, a misdemeanor citation, or at the very worst spend a couple hours in jail. If you've got a clean record you'd probably get probation, stay clean and the whole thing disappears.

Honestly, simple assault is not a real big deal as far as charges go. Especially if you have a clean record. Sounds to me like your bro is a little worked up over nothing.
