I'm feeling the 28-17 number myself. Skins dominate the game physically.
I could see that score if Jackson throws INTs, but I don't think we will dominate the Vikes physically in the trenches regardless if they are missing a guy or two. We are a depleted force. Only hope is that Collins has a great game for us which is less than 50/50 in my book. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I think Smoot will be good for at least 1 pick, facing his former club. I mean, he was on the sex boat... He will try to extract some revenge. Do you have confidence in Todd to get it done? I suppose as much as Tervaris Jackson from what I saw on Monday night. I still think Peterson is the real deal, and am really nervous about getting scorched on SNF.

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I have a feeling the Redskins will show up with an outstanding performance against the Vi-Queens. The key is to contain Taylor and Peterson and force Tavarius Jackson to throw. I think the Skins are capable and I think the offense will score just enough points for the victory. I will be a close one.
Redskins 24 Vi-Queens 21 |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I'm not really sure, It kinda feels like a Skins vs. Eagles game to me. When we play the Eagles and have to win, we must stop Brian Westbrook. If we can't stop AP, we are in for a very long day.
Skins 24 Vikings 21 In overtime. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Skins Run Defense has given up 2 100 yard rushers this year. Unfortunately, one was last week (Jacobs 130). The "bend, don't break" mentality will not work with Adrian Peterson, as he will exploit holes in the defense faster than sulfuric acid. The front 7/8 are going to have to contain Peterson and Taylor and make Tavaris Jackson beat the Skins through the air...
Fortunately for the Skins, the Vikings pass offense is horrible to say the least. They were only able to come back last week because of how incredibly shitty the Bears have been this year. The game rests on the shoulders of Todd Collins, who will have nearly ideal conditions inside the Homerdome. He is going to have to exploit the Vikings secondary, especially with no Antoine Winfield (although he's not on the injury report...). Vikes have the #1 rush defense, so if C-Po and Betts can get motoring, it could be a long day for the Purple Faithful. No score prediction, just hoping for 2 wins on NBC in a row. "Now, here's a guy who likes to hope..." |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Interesting predictions on espn.com - out of 5 of them - Ditka, Keyshawn, Emmit, Mort & Jackson - only Mort picked the skins.
Also, all 5 picked buffalo over nyg! |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Well once again we have 11 who post as diehard skins fans and spen allot of time here talking skins football only to pick the Vikes in what is our most important game of the season. Not sure how a how someone could pick against thier team when a loss would knock them out of the playoff hopes and once again I hope our players do not go into the game thinking this way. Even is we were playing the Pats I could not pick them to loose. I might not bet on them but I could not pick them to loose.
Skins shut down the one and Collins finds those holes in the Vikes D. skins 31 vikes 17 We are also due for a game scoring over 30. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Skins 16-21 Vikes
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I can't wait for Sunday night! I could easily see the Giants losing their last 2, and us pulling into the 5 seed. Peterson has been slowed in his last 2 games, but something about him scares the ?*@& out of me.
Playoff type football is Run, and stop the run. They do both pretty well this year. My heart says: Skins 20 Vikes 17 My head says: Vikes 31 Skins 28 OT UGHHH! |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
It will come down to QB play I feel it will be a low scoring game but exciting game. TC wins in the game in the 2 minute offense TD to Cooley for a final score. Skins 14 Vikes 13
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Vikes D is extremely vulnerable to the pass, and playing on the fast surface, Moss and/or ARE will be big factors.
Redskins 27 Vikings 20 |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Once again, a game too hard to predict based on the variables: Jackson and his often poor decisions, the consistency of our defense, our strategy on offense, and most of all whether MN commits to the running game. My head tells me that if they truly commit we will have a very hard time finding a way to win. At times our rushing-d has been so inconsistent, and when a team starts running it down your throat the momentum of the game totally goes that direction. Our front 7-8 must have their best game of the entire season to win Sunday night. I hope Godfrey has been staying in shape to stuff the run, and likewise that the d-line is completely healthy and ready to inflict some punishment.
On a positive note man-on-man coverage should get us by nearly the whole game, and Smoot, Springs, Torrence and Landry could still have several picks. This should allow us to concentrate on stopping Chester-Fried-Chicken and Adrian v Predator. Hail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The Vikes are completely one dimensional offensively. If we can just contain their running game we should be in good shape.
No offense Matty but what do you think EVERY team that has played the Vikings this year has had as their gameplan?....and the Vikings lead the league in rushing by a mile, have a winning record and are vying for a playoff berth....I hope the Skins have a better plan than that to win the game. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I actually think we can win this one going away.. 28-13 Redskins.. Saunders/Gibbs trusts Collins enough to completely run the offense.. Vikes are banged up (Jackson, Winfield may not play) coming off of a sloppy game.. They've also won 5 or 6 straight, it's really hard to continue to have everything go your way for such a long stretch in the NFL.
Jackson is not banged up, maybe you meant Sidney Rice their rookie WR. Winfield is certianly a loss but the rookie Marcus McCauly has played very well in his absence before last week...matter of fact Winfield was out for a good chunck of their winning streak so apparently he isnt THAT important to them. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
We're taking this one into OT.
Redskins outlast the Vikings through a balanced attack of run and pass. Offense has zero turnovers, and Clinton Portis breaks 150yds. Redskins 30 Vikings 24 (OT)
I agree that this one will very likely end in OT but to think that Portis is going for a buck fifty is insane! They have allowed 1 RB to run for a 100 yards this season. They are one of the best run defenses of all time, its possible for Portis to break 100 just extremely unlikely. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Just cause the Vikings are on a 5 game winning streak doesn't mean they played anyone good. Come on now, they played Raiders, Giants, Lions, 49ers, and Bears. We've already beaten Giants, Lions, and Bears and could easily beat the Raiders and 49ers. They are not on fire. They are just beating on teams that are not good or they have just lost their spark (Giants/Lions). If you put the Vikings in against a team alittle better than them like the Browns. The Browns would win. If you can stop their big running plays, you will win. Go Redskins!
Redskins 24 Vikings 10
Or like the Chargers...opps the Vikings beat the Chargers and Peterson set a NFL record with 296 yards in that game.... |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Remember this fellas, I said it here.
Redskins shut down the run and get 3 or more INT's and get the win. 28-9. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
We all know our teams' scenario to make the playoffs, and everybody says that if we win-out and the saints lose one or the giants lose two we are in. Well, why doesn't anybody talk about the vikings loosing our game and then loose the next game after that? I think this scenario is more realistic than the saints and giants. What am I missing here?

It really is that simple, contain their running game, force Jackson to throw, and you have a good chance of beating them. That's the basic formula that every team against them has, it's just a matter of getting it done. What else would you want them to do? Give them the running game and try to shut down the pass?? |

They are averaging like 178 yards rushing a game and thats with EVERY single team they have played gameplanning to stop them. I'm not saying it cannot be done, I am saying that its pretty unlikely...but its all you can really do against them. The DLine and LBs are gonna have to play out of their minds football this Sunday night. |

Apparently you are missing alot as its not more realistic at all..in fact its less realistic as it not only takes us winning out our final games but we must have help in the form of losses from other teams. Its additional factors that make it less realistic. As far as the schedule goes it isnt even close. The Vikings play us (2 pretty evenly matched teams) at HOME. Theres the difference that sways that game in favor of the Vikings and then in week 17 we play the Cowboys at home, which is gonna be a tough as hell game by any stretch as the Cowboys DONT want to lose home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Vikings play their last game AT Denver which could easily be a meaningless game for the Broncos as they are on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs. Anything can happen but when you consider the evidence right now, the Vikings have the easier path by far. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
I've felt good about this game all week long...Overall, I dont think the Vikings are that good but they do two things well that win you alot of football games....they run the ball well, actually they do that incredibly well, and they stop the run....now I think we can do a good job stopping the run against them, but I dont know how we'll we will establish a running game against them. We are going to need to find a way to establish the offense so that the game doesnt completley rest on Todd Collins.
We are playing good football right now, perticularly on defense. If we dont turn the ball over, I like our chances. I'll go 20-16. I think this will be a very close game, but I feel good about it. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
Another thing about the Vikings that I think is pretty misleading is the misconception that they are horrible against the pass. That is really false if you look at the numbers. They are 32nd in the NFL in passing yardage allowed per game but thats mostly because they are so damn tough against the run that nobody even tries to run on them much. If you look at yardage per attempt they are a very respectable 14th in the league. If you look at yardage overall the Vikings are ranked 19th, while not great thats not exactly terrible either. How about points? They rank 8th giving up only 18 pts a game, compared to the Redskins whom we think have a pretty good defense, the Skins give up 20 pts a game...
I think the Vikings are a pretty good team and we are gonna have a helluva time winning in MN. We are gonna have to be on the top of our game to come out with a victory. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
After the consumption of huge quantities of kool-aid, I'm going with our boys tomorrow night for the win. I believe they are all well aware that everything counts now and everyone must step it up if they have a chance of going to the playoffs. Plus, if they force Jackson to carry the weight for the Vikes, our chances increase greatly.
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
been awhile since i posted.....i am taking my skins this week 33-17. i think preparing for the giants last week is much harder than the vikings. that sounds crazy at first but the giants offense is way more dynamic than the vikes. i think given our coaching staff, which i have been impressed with since calling out gregg williams in week 6 against new england, we have a great chance of limiting thier opportunities. i think even if we are forcing them to third and short or medium we still have good chances of getting them off the field....but if we a winning on first and second down, then look out it will get ugly for the vikes....i have tremedous faith in our offense being productive against that defense. they wont do anything better than the pats, cowboys, or tampa bay. we have been through those wars already and we are better because of it, not to mention the eagles twice.......lets go baby!
My heart is with the Redskins, but my head says the Vikings. After watching Brandon Jacobs gouge us for a buck thirty, I shudder to think what AP will do to us.
Not only that, but young, inexperienced quarterbacks like Tavaris Jackson rarely offer the Redskins any sort of advantage. Kellen Clemons, Chris Simms, all the way back to Clint Longley, -- something about opposing QBs who are spring chickens just brings out the worst in the Skins' D. It won't be a runaway, but I'll say something like 20-10 Vikes.
You have no idea what AD will do to you. I can imagine somthing like 150-200 and a 3 TD game, you? |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Predictions
For the people that say Jackson is a never will be QB, is wrong. He is a young QB with far more upside than most young ones in the league.
Your playoff is over. It was real sweet wile it lasted. You think you have the more experienced team? I say you have the more experienced offenses but what about your defense? Ours blows yours a way. What is that defense wins over.......what? |

It is funny how you depend on one man to carry the Vikings against the Redskins. You are hilarious. We have soo many good players on the team that we don't need "1" person to carry us.

You know what would be awesome is we win with our defense missing our starting CB, S and LB.

LMAO, you moron. AD is a nickname of Peterson it means ALL DAY he has had it since he was a kid. Look it up I will wait here.
He goes by AD here in MN. A place where a team is NOT forgotten by a much better Dallas and NE team. Who are you guys? NOBODIES. AS for you guys beating us?. You better bring more than you have broughten |
