Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
So, did Jack say there were 8 survivors?
And is that the same Aaron (Claire's son) or just happens to have the same name. Aaron would be Jack's nephew right? (half-nephew?)
yeah they heavily hinted at it being Claire's son, but if that is the case, what type of situation resulted in Jack being so apprehenisive about seeing the baby? I'm thinking Jack is gonna be directly responsible for Claire's death down the road or she got left behind and it still haunts him. |

If it is Claire's baby that makes sense. |

What happened was that one of the ABC programming guys sent me (I imagine inadvertenty) a screen cap of it. As much as I enjoy getting the inside scoop of sports stuff, I generally try to avoid LOST inside info. But I got this one somehow. The spoiler sites are interesting because, while they do give a lot of spoilers, apparently some of the show's writers and other crew are on those sites and purposely provide fake information to throw people off. Or they'll use those sites users sort of as a focus group and bounce ideas off of them. |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Is anyone watching this week's episode right now? Holy Crap!! It's insane!!!

HO-LEEE CRAP! Awesomeness.

So what do you make of it all. What's going on? |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I haven't a clue. I am worried that there is no real logical explanation. That will be sorta crapy if they just hand it off as science fiction. There needs to be some solid story telling and something believeable. I think the time shift stuff could go great or horrible.

This is interesting: ''Lost'': Checking the time | Lost | Doc Jensen | TV | Entertainment Weekly | 2 But what I can't figure out is when did Desmond "leave Penny and the present" This episode was awesome though |

What with all the back and forth and exploding hatches and running around naked. Confusing isn't even the word for it. They also need to explain what made Penny decide to like him again in 2001. She said Charlie visited but they hadn't even met then. Oh plus the fact that he is dead. But maybe not since Hurley and his fellow mental patient saw him in a flash forward. My head hurts. |

Penny said when she talked to charlie, not met him{at least thats what I thought I heard} and I thought she was refering to the underwater communication station where charlie talked to her right before he died |

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Last night's ep was awesome!
I have a couple of questions, though:

I thought Desmond did the around the world race to get Penny's dad off of their backs, and my recollection was that they were together before he left. That was about 3 years ago. From last night, though, it seems they hadn't spoken for 8 years.
One other thing - if time on the Island moves slower than in the rest of the world, how is it that the same amount of time has passed in both places? The Oceanic survivors believe approximately 100 days have passed since their crash. The plane crashed on 9/24/04, and it's now 12/24/04 in the real world - that's about 100 days (94 to be exact).
|

I believe the article that SMooty posted mentioned one word: "unstable". I think they are pointing us towards not a place where physics go hay wire but a place physics CAN go hay wire and it CAN affect some people. Hence why this stuff is only happening to some people. |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
That might address #1:
Before Desmond travelled to the past, the "present" Danny didn't know who he was. After the moment in the present when Desmond went back and made contact with "past" Danny, "present" Danny seemed to remember him (at least, his journal did). Assuming actions in the past actually happen concurrently with the present (that is, there is a moment in the present when someone goes into the past, and that is the moment when the timeline changes, as opposed to the timeline changing the memories of people in the present from the moment the past action occurred), that would explain the inconsistencies. That is, Desmond did communicate with Penny up until 3 years ago. However, when he went into the past, he changed all of that by telling her he would take 8 years to contact her. Of course, that begs the question why he did the race if he wasn't trying to get her dad to leave them alone. For #2, though, I don't think that addresses it. How can minutes go by like hours, but days are the same? |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
#2 is an assumption that time goes slower. From the EW article, it points the reader to the fact that if Faraday did the experiment again, it would most likely be different. So there could be times where it's slower, the same, or even faster than the real world.
I think the history between his encounter with Penny and the phone number and the sailing race went unaffected. I think the only have to worry about what we saw, as opposed to what happened between then and the island... The episode was awesome last night. You begin to wonder who destroyed the radio room, and which people are working for who. We see why Jack couldn't get anyone on the horn. I wonder how the people on the freighter will now interact with the group (Charlotte, Daniel, Miles, Frank). And how Sayid and Desmond will continue to help those left on the island. |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
OK, so between the time the helicopter left the ship and arrived at the freighter, time moved slower on the island, but it could flip-flop and time could move slower in the real world. That makes "Lost-sense".
|
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Maybe pushing all those buttons is what kept time off and on the island the same?
Also, is it just a coincidence that 1996 and 2004 are leap years? |

Actually time went faster. |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Right, faster.

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Actually I think the proper way to think about it is that time for the islanders and the boaters was tracking properly. It was time for the copter passenegrs that was screwy. We know this because when they landed the time on the boat seemed to match the time on the island. We know this because they took off at dusk and landed in the middle of the day so they essentially flew for almost a day but in only twenty minutes.
Yet another way to look at it is that time on the island and time on the boat are out of sink in some way. So when they took off form the island at dusk they were actually leaving at a different time than it was on the boat. I suspect the former though. I am guesing that whatever electromagnetic properties Faraday utilized on Eloise take place naturally in around the island and the only way to avoid the affects is to travel a specific route that avoids the frequencies at which the phenomenom happen. |

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
thats what I heard should be rented first but stupid blockbuster here doesn't have it booo
|
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Was it just me or did it look like when 2004 Desmond called Penny and the phone was ringing, 1994 Desmond walked past Penny's window looking dejected. But then when she answered the phone they showed a shot of him passing the same window and a small smile started to come across his face.
And why has Penny been looking for the past three years? |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
He left on the round-the-world race 3 years earlier, and disappeared. As I mentioned above, I had the impression that they were back together when he left on the race, but with the latest episode, that doesn't appear to be the case.

Oh right, the race! Forget that. Thanks |

I think the fact that Desmond turned the key to stop the end of the world and was therefore at the center of a monster electromagnetic discharge is a better explanation. |

Yes they did. It could be why Locke is able to "hear" Jacob...

Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Anyone watching right now? What were the whispers to Juliet? I personally do not think this week will be as good as last week's.
|
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I missed the first few minutes. Who is that "friend" of Juliet's?
It probably won't be as good, but this is Juliet centric. And there's something about her... |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
The friend is no friend. She is some kind of psychiatrist on the island with the original "others". For this episode they have been have flashbacks for her, not flashforwards. The chick meets with Juliet when Juliet first gets on the island with the others and Juliet doesn't really like her.
Last flashback Juliet had that encounter with the chicks husband who I think died last season? Not sure, but perhaps Juliet has an affair with the dude... |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Damn that bitch is crazy...
|
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Yeah it looked like something was going with the two of them
I think we need to put the writers of LOST on the Moment of Truth :) get some answers! |
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Ding ding ding I called it!!
|
Re: LOST (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Still an interesting episode so far, does anyone know what happened to that dude Juliet was sleeping with? I think he may have died last season, is that true? If so how?

Remember that episode (I think it was two seasons ago) when Ana Lucia suspects one of the survivors is lying about having been on the plane and she kills him? I think that was Goodwin. I think it was the season opener. |

Yea, ok well that makes sense. I think Ben's source on the ship is Michael. And that is the last person I guess the people thought they would see. |
