and colt had a whole 1.5 seconds before he had to get rid the football. Hawaii got dominated, but most of the domination was done by Georgia's d-line on Hawaii's o-line. at least Colt showed that he could take a hard hit and get back up |

CB was the only reason they got to play in that game. No matter what side you're on in this debate, judging the kid on that one and only game is just silly. His O line got him killed, with.01 seconds to get rid of the ball. Kid's tough, I say sure.(late rounds) |

why do you say this? has Brady ever missed a game due to injury? |

I was just responding to the guy that said brady was taller and bigger. Have you ever seen the pic of him in the combine, he probobly weighed 170 lbs, with zero muscle tone. Given he got bigger, so can colt |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
No to Brennan!!!! At the QB position you have to look at who he played for and the opposition he had over his career. Hawaii is in the most pathetic Div 1A division out there. Even the MAC is a lot better than their conference. As for his records, if a decent HS QB played against a bunch of junior high kids he would have ungodly numbers also. I know that is an exaggeration, but look at what happened in the bowl game. Hawaii was schooled and shown that they didn't belong in the BCS. Brennan was wasted. Think the kid is going to do any better in the Biggest league of them all? This is a weak year for QB's in my opinion. I even think the kid from Missouri is overrated. Only decent QB's are Dixon and the guy from BC, and even he would be a big gamble. If we do draft a QB( I think we need to) we need to go under the radar and pick a kid from a smaller school.(like Gus from Tulsa)

That is my prediction and I am sticking to it. It is always the guy that you slap in the face and tell him that he cannot do it that comes back to proove you wrong. Right now Colt is taking a big bite of a shit sandwich. I have a feeling that in a few years his critics will be eating humble pie. I do not have a man crush on him, but I do think that he displays the physical and mental toughness to get it done. Do not worry, I don't have mural or a shrine of him in my house or anything. |

Your last line sounded like another QB we drafted. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
I like Colt and I think he has a good chance to become a great QB in the NFL. I live in Idaho so I follow Boise State and Hawaii every year. He's done pretty well under pressure and has had a lot of come-back games. I know he didn't do too well in the Senior Bowl and he probably is a work in progress but he has the talent and potential imo. He also didn't do too well in the Georgia game but like a couple ppl mentioned his o-line got killed and he's really the main reason they even got the chance to play in that game. I don't know if he's the right choice for the Skins but I think he might surprise some ppl when he gets his chance to play in the NFL but I might be wrong....

I know LDS likes the guy though, so we might try our comp pick on him (essentially an early 4th rounder) without screwing up the rest of our draft. |

Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
Um........NO
|
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
if colt brennan falls to us in the sixth round i would do it, but any earlier it would be a waste because he doesnt have a very big arm and hes undersized
|
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
We Need To Pick This Kid Up, Even Though He Throws A Little Side Arm, He Still Is Extremely Accurate Esp. In The West Coast Off. That He Played In Hawaii!!!! Colt Brennan Needs To Be In There Plans Because That Kid Has More Promise Than Bo Bo Brain Brohm Or Any Of Those Schmucks!!!

Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
It looks as if Colt Brennan didn't impress too much at the Senior Bowl this year. I believe some GM's feel as if he's a product of a great offensive system. They are questioning his mechanics, release points, and some question his physical stature.
For a guy that's set all kinds of records and can obviously play, should we draft him if he slides to the 3rd-5th round of the draft. I think you've got to take a chance on him if he slides to the 4th round or later (i believe we have a 4th....no i didn't research it). Yes, i know JC is our guy, but why not take a chance to groom someone that could work on mechanics and build strength. Then in a couple years, who knows...Good qb's are hard to find and everyone wants one. Think of Rivers/Brees. Thoughts?
After watching him against Georgia, I say let him keep falling. Here is the kid to get in the mid to latter rounds as the third QB! Josh Johnson - San Diego. He simply dominated 1-AA competition his senior year! 1 INT in 301 attempts! Career TD to INT ratio was 113 - 15! |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
You have to compare Brennan to other mid round QB prospects that your scouts decide on.
We have a need at QB, so if we're in the 6th and he's the highest rated QB on our board, I mean, why not. But you don't just take the guy because he's Colt Brennan. If you have a higher rated prospect, that would be stupid. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
I bet you if this guy's first name was Mortimer there would be a lot less supporters of this QB.
Some people just like the sound of a name as opposed to the attributes of the player. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
Brennan can't play. His release is all messed up...his passes will be batted down left and right. He's a major project. I would spend even a 7th round pick on him.
|
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
Alright, this is crazy and I wish I could prove it because no one is going to believe it!
I was playing Madden the other day and started my 14th season in franchise mode (I dont have an adapter for online play and have no life... what can I say?) and the 49ers had the 12th overall pick in the draft. In round 4 they drafted a QB from Hawaii by the name of.... COLT BRENNAN. Isnt that crazy? I do not know what pick they have this year but it is still crazy that it happened. It shall be known from this day foward, that because of a sign witnessed by Stuck in TX that Colt Brennan will be drafted by the 49ers this year. I wont call the round b/c if it comes true I may join a cult. IT HAS BEEN CALLED. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
Brennen is one of the most accurate passers in this draft. Given he threw a few ints, his completion rating is still over 70% for three years. I live in Hawaii and have been watching him for some time now. He is the greatest thing that ever happened to Hawaii football, and had to deal with the preasure of the whole state on his shoulders week after week. There were many times this year where he wasn't having a very good game but would still drive down for the winning touchdown. He can handle pressure, and he has the composure to drive down for the winning/tying score. He is developed enough for a pro system, especially a passing system (Jim Zorn's system). I say if he falls to the fifth or sixth snag him and keep him as our third stringer, you never know who will be the next tom brady.
Brennen....is that you, you sly dog. Come on a Skins web site simply to get the Skins to recognize you so you can be picked up by the Skins and trained by (supposedly the best QB Coach) Zorn? You Devil. ; ) |

Hopefully that QB will be Dennis Dixon, he had the knee problem, but he was a great passer and runner, and could be something at the next level if his knee heals fully, he is worth the gamble with one of those picks. |

Dixon = overrated. |

I was just thinkin, what would be a nice fit for a #3 QB when I have a solid back up ?....Josh Johnson, universtiy of San Diego
coached by Harbaugh, ran WCO, nice TD to int ratio... Colt Brennan is still kinda feeble, (physically) wasnt he like, a-buck-85, at the combine? |

concur! |

How is dixon overrated? When he was gone arguably the best team in the country last year, oregon, fell apart, Hes like Pat White with an NFL arm, this kid will be a steal for whoever gets him, once his leg heals up. |

Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
The whole state of Hawaii would jump on the skins wagon. Very accurate, perfect for a west coast system. I think a 6th rounder should snag him. don't forget Mark Rypen was a 6th rounder

Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?

I'd say it's more like, Dixon = very good college QB with dubious NFL prospects. I think it is kind of hard to be overrated when you won't get drafted until very late and might not get drafted at all. |

Mark Rypien was also a one season wonder. I would rather compare Brennan to a more notable 6th rounder. |

Ive been saying since day one that Dixon will make an excellent baseball player. I'll never understand why he went with football after being such a solid prospect for the MLB. I understand the NFL is way better, but if the shoe fits.... |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
One thing that I would rather see the Skins gamble a late round pick on: a QB who was productive in college, not a player who had a good workout.

Jared Lorenzen is 5 lbs away from being a flippen Gaurd! how do you make the jump from 185, and feeble....to Lorenzen? question Angry,...if you were choosing between 2 QBs who penciled out with like skills and ability, would you lean towards the kid at 185, and the only time he was in the wt room was to attend a meeting? or the kid that is 215, and trains his ass off? just askin Jared lorenzen...stop it! |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
i love colt cause he's a gun slinger..who cares if he's a system quarterback..so was Joe montana(without that beautiful team he had would we be talking about him?)

Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
Ken Dorsey had amazing numbers in college, and many chances in the NFL, and didnt make a good NFL QB...
mark my word though, Dorsey will be a coach in the near future. Amazing leader. The only reason he even still carries a clip board is becuase hes basically his teams QB coach |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
you can tell this is the off season. when else would this scrub get 5+ pages?
you can tell this is the off season. when else would this scrub get 5+ pages?
I didn't think it would get 5 pages. But hey, if we can draft Jordan Palmer in the late rounds why not? I didn't think there would be such a "hot and cold" reaction. The guy is talented and may fall. I'll leave it to the scouts to decide the rest. He's not like a (insert an all american college standout who mainly ran here--can't think of any at the moment) who did well in college but couldn't hack it in the pros. His claim to fame in college was letting it fly. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?

When he shocks the football word by comming out of nowhere to lead his team to a SuperBowl. Other than that, yeah..... only in the offseason. |
Re: What if Colt Brennan falls to the middle late rounds?
screw Colt Brennan... I'd rather take a risk on TCU d-end Tommy Blake... Would have been a sure first round pick untill his depression took ahold of him, but it seems he has that under control now and he could prove to be a steal
