Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
It looks like Crumpler is going to the Titans (link should be up soon I think), which could mean Hackett is less likely to go there.

It looks as though Alge might be on his way to the Titans, per PFT.com?, but not so fast says Alges agent.....no deal done yet. Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
If we don't get D.J Hackett then we have to somehow acquire Roy Williams or Ocho Cinco(after June 1).We have too much of a glaring need for DL & OL to waste any of our first 3 picks on a WR.Other than Hackett there is no other worthy receiver for us to even seriously consider unless of course we get rid of Mccardell,Thrash, and Espy. Then maybe you can entertain thoughts of Jabar Gaffney,Greg Camarillo or Devard Darling. If we have to draft a receiver 6th or 7th rd.would make sense.I fear that if we go for a WR in the first 3 rds. or draft is wasted because then you have to pick uo DL or OL in FA and at that point the quality guys will NOT be there IMO.

Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Wow, is Larry Fitzgerald not a possible FA? If he is then he gets my vote. This guy is a linebacker playing wide-out.

Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
It looks like Bryant Johnson may be signing with the Bills...though not officially confirmed yet
"Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- Two sources reported on Sunday evening that the Buffalo Bills have reached a tentative agreement with free agent WR Bryant Johnson, however the team has not made an official statement either way." Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
ywah I really like Fitz too.We won't be able to get him though.

I guess the Bills are less likely to draft a WR in the first round now |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
If we are to get Hackett...we will have to outbid either Tampa or the Titans or both.
Hopefully on of them gets Javon Walker so we only have to go head to head. Maybe we get super lucky and Tampa gets Walker and the Titans decide they dont need Hackett because they got Crumpler. I doubt it though....the Titans usally have a plan and stick with it. I say odds are 50/50 on Hackett...if not, we will stand pat until draft day for WR |

No chance it hell...this guy is a superstud, he also puts butts in the seats. No way the Cards deal him for anything other than a 1st. He is just too important to that franchise... I'd take him in a second...who wouldn't? |

I say odds are 50/50 on Hackett...if not, we will stand pat until draft day for WR
Well, if our choices are Hackett or a WR with the 21st pick in the draft, I'll take Hackett and use that 21st pick on a position much more important. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
I think we can get a good WR even in the 3rd round

has anyone heard ANYTHING about Mix and his role in 08? |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
The Redskins are just saying all the things you'd expect them to say. They like him, like the progress he's making. But what else are they going to say really?

AT least they are saying that much. I hope he's given a chance. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
I've liked Hackett for a while now but it appears that he might cost a bit much. I think the Skins are doing the right thing by waiting and if the Titans or some other team wants to give him a fat contract, then fine, they should pass on him and pick up a wideout in the draft. If the Skins do draft a wideout then I would prefer they wait until the 3rd or 4th round as recent history seems to indicate that you can find some very good ones in these latter rounds.
I'd take a flyer on Tab Perry of the Bengals as well. He's been hurt the past two years but is a good special teams player, both in coverage and kickoff returns. He would come cheap as well since the Bengals just cut him to avoid paying him like a $1 million tender. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
I like Bryant Johnson. He is big, physical and a very skilled performer. I don't have a problem with D.J. Hackett either. Randy Moss is not coming to Washington and Devon Walker is an injury risk.
|
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Javon's better than Devon :)
I'm still not 100% sold on Bryant Johnson. I mean not if we're expecting him to come in and be THE GUY here. Don't know how sold I am on Hackett either really. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Draft Draft Draft.

I agree with you, but I wouldnt mind Hackett for a couple years to teach the system. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
has anyone heard ANYTHING about Mix and his role in 08?
Whats the lovefest with Mix recently? He's done nothing....sure he's big....but c'mon. The guy should probably be on our practice squad..if he isn't currently. Yeah, give him a shot....but I wouldn't neglect getting a proven commodity hoping a "no-name" can pull a rabbit out of his butt. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Just for the record Bryant Johnson started 8 games in 2006 and here were his stats: 24 receptions, 417 yards, 3 TDs. And here are his numbers for 7 games started in 2007: 26, 291, 2 TDs
As for Hackett teaching the system, yeah I get that. But if the primary reason for having him here is to teach the system, why not just keep a much cheaper alternative in James Thrash? He knows the WCO from his days in Philly. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Has anyone thought about Justin McCariens? He had some nice seasons in Tennessee but I don't know how he did with the Jets. He is big.

Nope, nor do I want him. In his case, big doesn't mean squat. He's not huge anyway, just big at 6'2". He'll be 30 in december and the Jets needed quality wr's and he was no where to be found. I do not think he has the talent to make it as anything other than a 3rd or 4th. |
Re: What FA Wide Receiver Should We Sign?
Please I beg, please take this poll down. Many already have teams. Thanks in advance and possibly in 3 months.
