Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Though we are understandably disappointed in Lloyd's performance here, I don't think the issue with him was a lack of talent, but his mind set and attitude. He wasn't prepared for the spotlight and the pressure, he reacted poorly, and basically went into a downward spiral. I think he simply lacked maturity. The Redskins gave him every chance, but sometimes people close themselves off and go into a funk that you can't get them out of.
Going back to his old college coach, who has faith in him, may rekindle Lloyd's work ethic, confidence and determination. I think he could have a productive year if things go well. |
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
i don't think its a bad move by them. they are paying him next to nothing, and he might not even make the team. for them, its worth the small risk
|
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
This is really non-news. Lloyd gets a one year deal on the one team where he may have a chance to be the No. 3 receiver. If there is one receiver in the NFL who is worse than Lloyd, it's probably Devin Hester.

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Sadly I'm willing to believe he may do well in chicago based mostly on the fact that they have no one else, and I agree with Oakland Red about going back to his college coach. While I don't think he'll be elite I think he may be a midrange WR there

Interesting, considering Cerrato was very candid about the reasons why they let Lloyd go. For those that missed it, here's what Cerrato had to say about Lloyd's release on Riggins radio show last week... Vinny: "It was everyone's decision. Acutally, I think it was Brandon's decision. I don't think he likes football. I don't think he liked playing. I don't think he liked practicing. He had too many excuses for everything. So, I think our decision was the wrong decision when we signed him. It was the right idea to have the Santana, Antwan and another big receiver... it was the right thinking, but it was the wrong guy. We've got an outstanding locker room and to me, what happens when you've got a good locker room and a bad guy, the locker room runs him out." John: "Do you think he's pretty much done, Vinny? Do you think he'll get another chance somewhere else?" Vinny: "He's a talented guy. Somebody will probably give him a chance. I wish the best for him. It didn't work here because, I think, he didn't let it work. He didn't buy into "team" and he didn't buy into the Redskins. He bought into "Brandon", not the Redskins." Adios Lloyd. Grow up and man up. If you do that, you might just have a shot in this league. |

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
I predict Lloyd will not be in a Bears uniform come week one. He'll be in Hawaii trying to figure out how to spend all the money the Redskins gave him in one lifetime.

He's off to a good start....open mouth insert foot! He's already misread his first rout, and football hasn't started. What a dumb$ss!

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Can anyone preovide an link that spells out his new contract with the Bears. I know that he got a one year deal, but I have not seen that is was for the league minimum. Also, I have not seen detail that he will not be getting a roster bonus if he makes the team.

Lloyd lets one slip :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Bears The signing was a no-brainer for the Bears, and it doesn't come at nearly the cost of failed safety Adam Archuleta, another former Redskin. Lloyd receives a $40,000 workout bonus with a base salary of $605,000 and will count only $485,000 against the salary cap. |

I also can't belive he made that statement about the qbs - why the heck is Llyod bad mouthing when he has not even made the team - isn't this a huge signal to the Bears that he is not a changed man and they are wasting $40,000 on a malcontent? |

I don't know. I'd like to think the NBA does a slightly better job. |
The Bears lost two receivers to free agency, now they must truly be "desperate" Good Luck!!
I think they plan to use Hester as their #1 receiver this year. Heck, they may even draft a WR int he first two rounds. |

Bears may be losing Rashied Davies as well

This just in: Brandon Lloyd breaks his collar bone while walking through the x-ray machine at Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Watch him pre-snap. He often looks like he is asking other players where to line up and what he is supposed to do on a given play. Just return kicks Devin ("run Forrest") |
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
6 Rec 124 Yds and a TD. WTF? This week we eat crow.
|
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
tj duckett got good yardage and a TD for seattle this week too... that doesn't mean he doesn't suck though. he, like lloyd, just needs equally sucky players around them to be comfortable enough to look good.
the type of player that can only look good when his team looks bad isn't the type of player i want around. |
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
There was a reason he barely saw the field for us. He might be able to make circus catches, but he probably has a poor work ethic and doesnt practice hard. I know when he did his radio show with Bram Weinstein he talked a lot about wanting to be a rapper. Not exactly a Gibbs guy, but it seems there is a short of recievers in the league right now and I'm glad some team found a use for him.

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Give Lloyd some credit. He's playing very well for the Bears. I still stand with my statement that Gibbs had a bit of a vendetta against Lloyd after he showed up to the locker room with a hat that said "FUCK" on it.
|
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
I am still not ready to give Lloyd a ton of credit. Let's see how he does the full 16 games. he looked good for SF for a bit as well.

1. The Bears have crap for receivers. Put Lloyd here as the No. 1 (i.e. - first, cut every WR on our roster) and he would put up numbers similar to those he's putting up in Chicago BUT NOT similar to Moss's numbers. 2. You have consistently argued the "Hat Incident" even after it was clear that Lloyd was despised by all at Redskins Park, not just Gibbs. I for one, had never seen any reference to the Hat Incident by anyone except you. Rather, after the initial feel good period, every report out of camp was that Lloyd was an ass. - He blamed his QB for dropping balls, he didnt' have the trust of his teammates, etc. Based on everything I read, Lloyd simply didn't have the trust of his QB's so no one was looking for him 'cause most of the time they couldn't trust that he'd be there. It is clear that, despite evidence to the contrary, you will always blame others for Lloyd's shortcomings, particularly Gibbs. I on the other hand have no doubt that, if Lloyd could play and had the trust of his QB's, Gibbs would have played him - a' la Riggins (no choirboy he). |
Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
im starting to think lloyd is the type of guy where if he is not "the man" and main receiver option for a team he gets emotionally sensitive and plays with much less dedication. . . seems like some players now a days have this "i need to be told every day that you love me and cant live without me" thing going on.
but good for him, glad to see he is getting all the "lovie" he needs to play well. i was higher on brandon then i was ARE and they both have fallen under our production expectations. go skins!! |
