Keep us posted with what you do to the car because my 87 year old grandmother is looking for a few ideas for her focus. Hey are you single? LOL
I've already got a TomTom so I didn't go for the nav.

Along with the spoiler I have a moon roof, premium audio system, and Sirius radio.
Sort of off-topic, but with the merger does you Sirius radio now automatically rollover to XM radio? How does that work exactly?

And regarding satellite radio... I'm completely hooked already. Stern all day, NFL radio, great alternative music channels that seem to play every song that's on my ipod... I'm in heaven.

And to perpetuate the off topicness I whole heartedly agree. One of the finest inventions in years. Hopefully this merger helps keep them in business since neither company has made a profit yet. The only people who don't like satellite radio in my experience are the ones who don't have it.

Man that is one dark ride. Please be careful during the summer time. Don't be like some of these dumb-asses that I see leaving kids and animals unattended in the car while they "run in real quick" to take care of errands.

Black on black looks sharp, but during the summer time, will be getting all kinds of hot.

Does it have SYNC?

I never thought I would pay for radio, but when I bought my truck Sirius was included. I'm definitely going to renew it, there's no way I could go back to "regular radio."

BTW- Does your car have Sync? How do you like it? Wife is looking for a new vehicle and we're thinking small SUV. She likes the new Liberty and the Edge. Edge was pretty sweet inside but either our sales guy didn't know how to use it or Sync wasn't very user friendly.

I don't have Sync. Personally I didn't see the need for it but it does look pretty cool.

Nice ride Matty.

My wife got me a Sirius receiver as a wedding gift and since then, I bought another one so that I can have it in both cars. It's definitely worth the money for it.
Got my new car on Friday and so far I'm really impressed. The ride is nice and smooth and very quiet. The interior is huge, I can't get over the room. Of course you're talking about someone who's had nothing but compacts for the last 10 years or so. I'm calling around to get estimates for the window tinting, I'll probably get it done next week. Here's a few pics

GREAT car choice. You really need tinted windows AND taillights though. :)

Post "after" pictures too.

Re: tinted windows?

I can tell you that SYNC is very user friendly. Takes couple of minutes to get comfortable with commands and short cuts.

Only downside...if you have it read a text message from girlfriend when wife is
in the car. LOL

Re: tinted windows?

I've decided against tinting the windows for now. After doing some homework I've found that NY tint laws are pretty strict. You can't go below 70% and that's not even worth doing IMO. Also, a cop in NY got shot not too long ago by a guy with blacked out windows and there's talk of making the tint laws even more strict because of that. They want to make it part of your state inspection so you can be fined if they aren't legal and your car won't pass inspection until you take off the tint.

I'm thinking now of spending that money on a new stereo head unit.

Re: tinted windows?

Wow, that's INSANE.

70%?!?

Yeah, head unit is a good idea. Get one that is Bluetooth compatible so you can have your cell phone in your car.

Re: tinted windows?

Smart move not to tint, in my humble opinion.

Recognizing that I'm in the vast minority within this thread, I'll weigh in anyway. Tinting the windows is an incredible waste of money, in my opinion. The interior of your car will hold up adequately to the sun's rays without tinting. What, is the interior going to fall off if the sun hits it over 15 years? What's the worst that happens, you're driving a 15 year old Fusion and it has some cracks in the dash? So? Besides, you can prevent that process with some Armorall if you really care.

The windows are already coated with UV protectant, so it's not like you're going to get sunburned through your untinted windows. As for the heat inside the car, simply crack the window, then turn on the AC.

The only reason to tint the windows is for appearance. If you know me around these parts, you know I'm not going to go with anything for appearance's sake. If you do it, recognize that it's an emotional decision to spend the money on it (aka: a foolish purchase), and just be honest with yourself don't try to justify it as if it's good for you car.

It's just not practical. And in general, don't do things for the sake of appearances unless it's very cheap to do so. It just makes you come across like you have your priorities out of order.

MTK 04-07-2008 01:08 PM

Re: tinted windows?

I'll admit that appearance was one of my main motivators in the first place, however after getting a couple of quotes both at $250, I thought twice. Plus when you consider this is a car I'll probably have for 3 years at the max, it's just not worth putting that money into it. And then of course I don't want to give cops an easy reason to pull me over.
