Being a huge WVU fan as well i watched this kid play college football and he was just as big a screw up there but it was always pushed under the rug. I saw a number of games where he would go off on coaches, act like a jerk on sidelines, he gave the finger to a group of fans behind the bench, then had to physically be dragged off the field by players. but, he was back in the lineup next week after a statement release "i am sorry for acting like a....." which was probably written by Rich Rod. no way this jackass should play in the NFL. he is a fool. he will end up in jail before the end of the season.

my second statement - I have seen all around the league of players getting in trouble, or players holding out because of the "me want more money" or bad mouthing the franchise. One thing I am so glad we have done in the last 4 years is to go out and get good character guys. We have to be one of the best franchises in the NFL for having high quality guys on and off the field. We may not be the best on field franchise (yet) but we certainly are on if not the best off field franchises. That goes to all the guys up stairs (Joe, Vinny, and Dan) good job!

Is everyone already saying he is 100% guilty??? What if all the charges are dropped?? Going off of his past I think he's guilty but look what happened to Randy Moss? Some bitch charged him with some BS and none of it was true. Let the legal process take place before we drill the guy.

Chris Henry, along with a lot of WVU football players from what I hear, is a total thug F-up. I work with 2 WVU graduates, and as much as they love their school, they're the first to admit the football players are total jerks. They've told me stories about what an ass Pat White is, and Pac Man Jones and Chris Henry aren't helping the program's reputation. Doesn't Noel Devine, who just finished his freshman year, have 3 or 4 kids already?? In my opinion being a Mountaineer football player is an automatic red flag.

Chris Henry has no doubt bought himself yet another suspension. This guy's laundry list spells scumbag. Punching 18 year olds and being too lazy and irresponsible to get his car registered properly is just pathetic. And those are just his latest two transgressions. Serving booze to teenagers, busted for pot, etc, etc, etc.

Sorry for the rant, but when I see dbags like this just throw away all the money, privilege, and respect that come with playing in the NFL it just flat out pisses me off.

And on a side note, Chad Johnson really isn't going anywhere now.

If the charges are dropped because its some 18 year old trying to get paid the skins would have to consider signing him to an INCENTIVE LADEN CONTRACT WHICH WOULD BE VOIDED IF HE F'D UP AGAIN. No offense guys, but you don't have to be a saint to be a good football player, Dexter Manley was one hell of a Redskin, John Riggins would have been arrested just as many times if athletes were under the same microscope back when he played.

He's definiterly a better option at WR then Mix and could save us from using a high draft pick on a WR. He'll also come extremely cheap right now

Look around the league. A lot of great WR have issues whether it's personality or with the law. When the Pats signed Moss last year I bet most of you said he would single handedly destroy the Pats and that it was a bad move. Well it turned out he needed a change of scenery and he wsn't such a bad guy after all. What if the charges are dropped, Henry signs with the Eagles or Cowboys and goes to the pro bowl next year? Would you still think it was the smart thing to stay away from him?

Although there are a ton of us that are itching for solid WR talent....what 56fanatic said about his problems in college make any possible turnaround extremely unlikely.

It is a shame...why do WR's have such a hard time keeping their cool?

Henry has the talent to be one of the best WR's in this league. He is 24 years old. If the charges are dropped and he is not suspended next year then he will be available for very little $ . I think if you compared Henry to Moss at this stage of their careers you'd find a lot of off the field comparisons. I think a lot of people here would have stayed away from Moss last offseason becasue of his checkered past.... what about now? Do you wish we made that move? I know I do.

This notion that nothing is lost if he screws up is losing sight that if in fact another player comes along that would be a better fit, you've already cast your lot to the devil (so to speak). Then he screws up (and he [B]will[/B] screw up) and now your back to square one.

Use your Manley example, sure we got a lot out of him, but we needed him in 1988 & 89 and where was he? We had great teams that came up short because a guy like Manley left us high (no pun intended) and dry. When we replaced him, we (with essentially the same team) returned to the playoffs.

Those who do not learn from thier mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

here me out, you sign Henry, or Pac Man. You give them a heavily incentive laden deal and a short leash. If they dotn perform, or go to jail, you cut them. No cap consequences becuase its incentive laden. If they perform great, dont get in trouble, etc, then you just got a steal on takign a chance on two great athletes.

Do you really think those 'team cancer' guys ruin their teams? Assuming they are on the field. Last I looked, TO got run out of Philly, but did nothign but help him win on the field. So they had newsconferences where they diagreed on what flavor of chunky soup they liked, they still put up points and won...

I see no risk in signing them both, filling two huge holes, and if they get arrested again you cut them and are at the same place you started at.

This is just me, but I want a team I can be proud of, as well, and it is possible. I know that is not a priority with everyone. You seem attached to U of M, well they have become a laughing stock and not because of their record. They justified creepy behavior for years and it got so out of hand that they became a punch line to every joke told about a scandalous program.

With nearly every one of your examples, there was some kind of chaos the ensued. Yeah Dallas had a good year last year but at the cost of a pretty good coach the year before. It's way too early to judge the Tank Johnson situation.

I think the last line of your argument is the entire basis of what Skins fans think and do. In the 'good ole days' we thrived on getting that blue collar guy that busted his ass to succceed.

Everyone loves the story about the small town kid that worked hard and became great.

No one loves the pompass player that is seemingly taking his skills for granted and making stupid mistakes.

We look at these guys under a microscope and its not fair to them. You can be a pro football player, and drink with minors. I know its illegal and sounds bad. but think about it guys. A lot of people on this board are in college and I refuse to believe you didnt drink as a minor or with a minor before... or has everyone except me on this board never been to a strip club?

I dont want a team of "Rudys" or "the invincable". Personally, I dont need to hear the feel good story. I just want to win football games.

When i went to school Portis, Shockey, Taylor...these guys were all there. And the guys before that like Sapp...Ray Lewis... All of them have attitude problem, they all got in trouble.

Everyone loves Portis and Taylor, so dotn sit here and compalin about the rest of the league without looking internally. Portis and Taylor were no Saints, hell lewis was arrested and Sapp is a walking time bomb.

But with age came maturity, they are all (were....) fun guys and matured. They learned from their mistakes and became dominant. So dont be so quick to dismiss a guy like Henry, he could be the next great lockerroom MVP in the leauge. Or he could become trash... its a risk. I just think its a small risk, you can always cut the guy.

We have a great team in place, with strong vet leaders. They would keep players in control.

If you think that Dexter Manley playing for the skins was a mistake then we have a philosophical difference. Obviously we are looking at this from different angles ... Chris Henry is one of the most talented young WR in the league. The fact that a lot football people thought the Bengals would part with Johnson because in Housh and Henry they have 2 Pro bowl caliber WR should tell you something.

I think your mistake is you're scared and not thinking outside of the box. If I could somehow guarantee signing Henry would bring a super bowl next year would you agree with the signing of Henry? Probably not

One thing your missing is the business and public relations side of it. Let's face it. The corporations that spend $ with the Redskins are run by white people. And these people (I bet) frown upon doing business with people that hire thugs. I'm black and I somewhat frown upon it. And the TO example is not a good one. Say what you want about TO but NOT ONCE has he had a run in with the law. IMO that is a big difference.

If Henry is 100% innocent I'd take a look at signing him, but I don't run the team.

Good points about all of the U guys. EXCEPT WARREN SAPP. You'd think he'd grown out of his ghetto attitude playing for a fine man like Tony D. But he is still an a-hole.

Plus, it's not like you can say Henry leaves it all on the field either. Chad Johnson and TO both have big mouths, but no run ins with the law, and no one questions their effort come Sunday.

I seem to remember Carson Palmer getting in Chris Henry's face when he half assed some plays. Henry is another entitled selfish punk thug who doesn't work hard and has no regard for the law. I'd be sick if he was on our team.

I think Moss is the better comparison, with the weed and the running over the female security guard... etc

Henry was arrested four times between December 2005 and June 2006.

- He was accused of possession of marijuana in northern Kentucky [B](Isn't too big a deal, cops usually break off a bud or two for later)[/B]
- Carrying a concealed weapon in Florida [B](Mistake, tough gun laws in FLA... Switzer was worse though) [/B]
- Drunken driving in Ohio [B](Bad, but can happen to any of us after a few cold ones, we're not marks like he is though)[/B]
- Providing alcohol to minors in northern Kentucky. In that case, he served two days in jail in 2006 after pleading guilty to a charge of letting minors drink alcohol in a hotel room he had rented. I think a lot of that is because you only need a 2.5 GPA to get into WVU, and the guys with bad grades and backgrounds that can't get into a big school like USC end up going to WVU.

He was dropped by the bengals WHILE in court for 2 different issues. He is in no way 100% innocent even if he didn't do what he allegedly did. He had a slew of issues before this, and more will come. He likely hasn't been 100% innocent since he was 15 months old.

How could you say that when we all know about his past troubles, if you don't know, here is a list:
December 15, 2005 - Chris Henry was pulled over in Northern Kentucky for speeding and marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's license, and without auto insurance. On January 30, 2006, he was arrested in Orlando for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm. He was reported to have been wearing his Number 15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. Henry pleaded guilty in both cases and avoided jail time in both cases.

May 4, 2006 - Cincinnati media reported that Henry is being investigated by Covington police in connection with a sex crime, which allegedly occurred in a hotel room in Covington, Kentucky early on April 30, 2006. No charges have yet been filed, and on May 24, 2006, Covington police reported that there is no proof anything happened and that the alleged victim might now face charges for filing a false police report.

June 3, 2006 - Chris Henry was pulled over outside on Interstate 275 at 1:18 a.m by Ohio Highway Trooper Michael Shimko. At 2:06 a.m. Henry voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted by Ohio law. These charges have since been dismissed as it was proven that the breathalyzer used to test Henry at the scene was faulty.

September 25, 2006 in the early morning, Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was pulled over for a DUI. The truck Thurman was driving belonged to rookie Reggie McNeal. Neither McNeal nor Chris Henry were charged with any wrongdoing by authorities, however, Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis benched Henry for the Bengals loss against the New England Patriots.

October 6, 2006 - Henry was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbid Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their October 22, 2006 game against the Carolina Panthers.

January 25, 2007 - Henry pleaded guilty to charges of providing alcohol to minors, an incident that occurred at a hotel in the spring on 2006. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.

April 10, 2007 - Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. His suspension comes with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry has since been allowed to begin practicing fully with the Cincinnati Bengals by NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell. His suspension was lifted and he played in the November 11, game versus the Baltimore Ravens, amassing 4 catches for 99 yards.

May 18, 2007 - Henry allegedly failed a court-mandated drug test, where a field tested resulted in a false positive for taking an opiate, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The failed drug test would have been the third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. A third violation, per league rules, results in a one-year suspension. In addition to having his suspension increased to 24 games, he would have had to serve an 88 day jail sentence. As of May 23, 2007, the State of Kentucky has reported that Henry in fact did NOT fail a drug test, and that earlier reports to the contrary are erroneous.

June 12, 2007 - Henry allegedly assaulted a 16 year old boy with teammate Reggie McNeal. The claims were later reported to be unfounded and Henry and McNeal have been exonerated.

November 6, 2007 - Henry allegedly assaulted a valet attendant at Newport on the Levee.

April 2, 2008 - Henry was charged with misdemeanor assault and property damage. Henry allegedly threw a bottle shattering the victim's car window and punched him in the face, however Henry said it was a case of mistaken identity. Henry was waived by the Bengals a day after this arrest.

Here I am thinking we could actually mention a released player and not wonder if we could sign him. It was bound to happen I guess, but come on guys!!!! No one can seriously think we would be interested in this guy. He totally sucks at life.

I will agree with most of what you are saying. Pacman, Henry and some others are life long screw ups. I have never heard anything but nice things about White, Slaton. Rodrigues recruits guys based on talent, not character, where some other schools would have absolutely nothing to do with them. football in morgantown is like football in texas, there is nothing else. trouble gets pushed aside, which is what these kids are use to. Hopefully the school will turn around its recruiting and go after better kids, but I doubt it. Who really wants to play in morgantown WV that could play on a bigger stage? only the idiots that get looked over that have all the talent in the world, but absolutely no brains or common sense. unfortunately, all WVU fans live with it and just pray we keep winning.

I agree with you. the kid has all the tools to be a Randy Moss duplicate. But the kid is trouble. He is only 24 years old. I think it would be different if he was late 20's, and finally realize that this may be his last shot. But at 24, in his mind, he is still indestructable, he thinks he'll always have the "right" to play football. I watched this kid, he is an AMAZING talent at 24, but honestly i just dont think he is worth the POTENTIAL trouble he could bring. We have such a good locker room that I just dont think it is worth it.

now, on the other hand - do you think Moss, Portis, Randel el, Griff, Thomas all the vets would be able to keep him in line?? Personally, I think they would be able to keep this kid in check, but they wont be around him 24-7, which is when this idiot gets himself in trouble. Now, take a 24 year old kid, with money, with the issues he has and put him in the northern va, DC area. Do you honestly think he is going to be able to stay clean?

Chris Henry in DC would be an unbelievable mistake. If either Moss or TO had come to DC, I guarantee it would have been a disaster as well.

The only reason Moss and TO are "model citizens" right now is because they don't have anything to bitch about. As long as their teams are winning and they are getting the ball enough to get the good stats, of course they are going to be "team players".

But that is [U]not[/U] what being a team player is about. Make no mistake - at the first sign that their team isn't going to get them 80+ receptions, 1200+ yards, and 10 TDs, I'm sure we will see their true colors. We don't need that type of player.

Yes theres a line. No I dont like that players at my college got into a lot of trouble in recent years and ear marked that program as being bad. But, if you look at it, people only cared that they did inapproriate things when they were losing. No one cares when you are winning.

When i went to school Portis, Shockey, Taylor...these guys were all there. And the guys before that like Sapp...Ray Lewis... All of them have attitude problem, they all got in trouble.

Everyone loves Portis and Taylor, so dotn sit here and compalin about the rest of the league without looking internally. Portis and Taylor were no Saints, hell lewis was arrested and Sapp is a walking time bomb.

But with age came maturity, they are all (were....) fun guys and matured. They learned from their mistakes and became dominant. So dont be so quick to dismiss a guy like Henry, he could be the next great lockerroom MVP in the leauge. Or he could become trash... its a risk. I just think its a small risk, you can always cut the guy.

I just dont understand these arguements for players that are idiots. Do you and I get into fights at strip clubs, beat up our girlfriends, carry guns around??? if these idiots weren't football players, like you and i, they would be in jail. How hard is it NOT to get arrested? I am no saint either, but I seem to be able to go to drive to work everyday, work, drive home, have a couple of beers or friday and saturday and not get arrested. seems pretty damn easy. These players seems to think getting arrested is no big deal, that smashing a stippers face into a stage for picking up dollars bills that were thrown on the stage for her is ok. she deserved it. I have no remorse for guys that make millions of dollars that can't seem to stay out of trouble. it is absolutely mind boggling.

Brand Lloyd was cut because he didn't have a place in the system, not because he was a disruption in the locker room.

seriously, I do believe Joe benching him for attitude issues at the end. I believe people, coaches clashed with him because of his attitude. My point was, our vets were suppose to bring out his talents, show him the right way to act, the right way to practice and play. Eventually, the ones that were suppose to help him, stopped paying attention to it and moved on when it was known he was a waste of time. Now, if they can't get through to B Lloyd, how in the hell would they get through to Henry?

Lloyd definitely had some attitude issues that caused him to be a disruption in the locker room.

Just look at what JLC said about him:

Yes, the contract includes a $40,000 workout bonus, sources said, but first Lloyd must participate in 85 percent of Chicago's off season workout program sessions to receive it, so he got nothing up front.

The Bears could but him at any point and owe him nothing. Should Lloyd make the team - something sources said the Bears are not necessarily counting on ("[B]They know he's a malcontent, but he played for our coordinator in college and was recruited by him," said one NFL source who spoke with Bears people about the signing. "They look at it like he's drowning - he's not totally drowned yet - and (OC) Ron Turner wanted to throw him a lifeline, but who knows if he'll use it."). My take on this guy has been long established, but, I gotta say, [B]if he somehow matures a bit and maybe deals with some of his personality issues, I could actually see him having a decent year. Now, these are huge ifs, but if he gets on the field I think he can replace Berian as Chicago's downfield threat and makes plays in spurts[/B].

He will have every motivation in the world and will be playing for his football life. Then, of course, he may take that $12 million from Dan Snyder, build a recording studio in his basement and focus more on fashion and hip hop than football and totally check out. Have a weird hunch he does enough for the Bears to get himself a decent contract a year from now ... [B]then buyer beware to any team that actually empowers him again, cuz his troubles run deep.[/B]

Also kinda strange how both of the biggest of the 2005 offseason busts - Adam Archuleta and this guy - end up in Chicago on the cheap. Archuleta gave the Bears essentially nothing in 2007, and will be very interesting to see if Lloyd makes it this year. Chicago's off season workout plan begins in a few weeks, and I would assume he would report and at least get that $40,000 in his hands.

Got my hands on some very, very interesting - and telling - figures on team spending and the cap that I think you'll want to check out. I found it somewhat mind blowing while culling the numbers from NFLPA and NFL Management Council sources.

That may be true, but he was also known as a malcontent. I didn't sense any of that here. Chris Henry is a better talent than Lloyd, so I don't think getting him to produce would be the problem.

That said, I still think there is no way we should bring him in. He isn't going to get the production here that is going to keep him from acting like an idiot.
