I wanna hear about the online multiplayer, can you team up with a buddy and wreak some havoc?!
There's a couple co-op modes, but so far the real fun has been free mode with the entire city unlocked and ready to be destroyed. 5-6 of us get on for a while stealing helicopters and zooming through the office buildings or landing on the Statue of Happiness or we are stealing speed boats and riding around Miami Vice style. add on the awesome single player and u've got yourself a winner. |
I'm kind of appalled by the themes involved in the game. You guys are all adults so I mean whatever. But I wouldn't let my kid touch this game with a 10 foot pole until he was 16 or so.
Unfortunately you are in the minority with that it seems lately as on a regular basis we have parents buying stuff like this which is meant for 17 and up for their kids who are like 9-10 years old and it's disgusting. We even try to talk the parents out of it most of the time but get stupid responses like they hear or see worst things at home. and preach on Matty cuz those COD 4 kids are the reason Halo got ruined online and it seems like they are doing the same with COD. |

I'm sure out of the thousands of people on this site, there's got to be at least ONE who would not object to buying their kid GTA. And when I say kid, I'm talking a kid below the age of 13, at the absolute youngest. If so, I'd really like to hear the explanations/reasons why they don't mind their kid playing this game. And if a parent says their kid sees/hears worse things at home than what's in the game.. I think a call with CPS is in order. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
GTA IV is totally addicting. I'm not sure if it tops COD 4 for me personally but it's still pretty damn good. Liberty City is huge and the graphics are pretty sick. Great game.

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
OMFG. What a great game. I'm so hooked its not even funny.

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
No surprise but this game is selling like crazy!

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
$300 million in its first DAY and over $600 million in its first week. Amazing stuff and very addicting game.

No chance my kids are getting this until they are old enough to drive themselves to the store in their own car and purchase it (and the console) with their own money. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Am I the only one who gets absolutely furious when you're walking across the street and someone plows their car into you? I swear every time that happens I pull out my gun and unload it in their car. lol.

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
This really pissed me off... I got 25% of the way through the game. Of course I did a lot of other stuff but that is a little over 10 hours of gameplay for me. Then I guess I did a mission out of order, now it won't let me do ANY missions. I had to completely restart the game. And let me tell you this game is not near as fun 2nd time through.

Really? I haven't heard of anything like that. Do you know what you did wrong? |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
So everyone's had the game for about 2 weeks now.
How far has everyone gotten in the game? I'm about 30% of the way through the main story. At the part where I have to decide whether to kill Dwayne or Playboy X.. Has anyone gotten to that part and does deciding who you kill change the storyline at all? |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Sorry to be late to the party but this game is totally bad ass. Up there with Gears of War, Bioshock, and COD 4 as my favorite 360 games so far.

I'm about 60% through the game so far. and other characters will bring up your choices in conversations, especially the next time you have to make a choice between 2 characters because that one definitely effects part of the story. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Im done with it, at the very end you're faced with a decision (I wont go into detail so that I dont ruin it for others) to do a mission or get revenge on someone. When you get to this point save your game so that you can do both endings, they are similar but different at the same time. Its a trip!

Damn! Done already? lol I must be really bad at the game or playing really slow because I'm just coming up on 30% done. At the part where the Russian kidnap Roman and take him to that warehouse in South Bohan. I killed all the dudes, got up to the 3rd floor and then got blown up. Stupid place was booby trapped or some shit. I get so fucking frustrated with this game sometimes. |

I'm not 100% complete but I have the main storyline finished. I think all I lack is a few of Brucie's races and a couple assassin missions. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I'm not sure how far I am, not very that's for sure. I just killed Vlade and did that mission where you have to steal a cop car and pull over vans until you find the one with the hot TVs in it.

You're not far at all. I wish I hadn't been able to speed through it but its so addicting. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
My problem is I get so distracted with all the side stuff. I need to really focus on getting missions done. And what I really need is a day off from work for an all day GTA marathon.

I know what you mean. Its so overwhelming sometimes that its easy to get sidetracked. |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I hear ya to I always just start driving around and killing people ha ha
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I'm bumping this thread again.
Okay... I'm officially stuck and would like some tips. I'm on the Paper Trail mission, where I have to fly this copter and rocket launch into the other copter to kill whoever that dude is on board. Problem is, I apparently have no idea how to get close enough to the guy for long enough to even get to the point of shooting the rocket launcher. Anytime I get close to the guy, I end up "losing him". Anyone have any tips on how to fly this blasted helicopter? Or maybe just on the mission in general? I've already failed this mission like... 5 times today! :( |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I'm thinking about giving up on this game. I've been playing for 15-20 hours and it's just the same thing over and over. Drive somewhere, shoot some people, repeat. While I was impressed with the size of the game at first, this is really getting old. Any reason I should stick it out till the end?
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
The last mission is pretty cool, but other than that, it is just more of the same.
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Well I officially threw in the towel today. With my going on vacation and Madden coming out shortly there is no way I can see playing any further into the game. It just got too boring. I am on the Bank Robbery mission and it's just not that fun.

That was by FAR the hardest mission in the game IMO. It took me so long to finish that BS lol |
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I beat it a few weeks ago. Good game overall but it left me wanting more. I think all the great reviews it got was based more on hype than anything.
Now I need something new, I was thinking maybe Bioshock. |

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I've played the demo, looks like a great game
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Yea, it's great. It's really one of the few games that lived up to all the hype imo. Kinda short, the second time through I beat it in about 5 hours but, thats the best 5 hours of gameplay ever. Everything about that game is so cool, maybe it's just me, but that was seriously the best game available until MGS4 came out.
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Wat a game. LOL, now i've found a good reason to hijack this thread! AHA!

Bioshock is amazing. Really fun shooter, great gameplay, with a deep and involving story to match.
|

i love this gamee

Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
ncaa 09 is the shit. ill take all you
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
IMO Bioshock is better then MGS4. Bioshock is so intense and so originally. MGS4 is nothing I have not seen before.
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
alright my arm has been twisted, I'm going to pick up Bioshock.
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
Matty look on eBay I bet you can get it for like 20 something or try half.com
|
Re: The Grand Theft Auto IV Thread
I will thanks.
I just wish it had a multi-player component, but it will keep me busy for a while regardless. |

True I guess. Bioshock is an awesome game, I've just been waiting so long for it and the online for MGS4 is AWESOME so. Bioshocks lack of online mode sucks but, it makes up for it otherwise. Glad to hear you picked it up Matty, lemme know how you rate it after it sucks you're brain in, lol. |
