Re: Who Will Start, Heyer or Jansen?

Again it's his lack of quickness that i've noticed and i suppose contributes to his likelihood of injury. Slower guys are more likely to get rolled up on, trampled, whatever. When you're slower than the guys around you it's harder to control your own destiny (so to speak) during play. Maybe he would have been injured in those situations no matter what. |

Slow guys get injured more often?? I'd love to hear some facts behind that assertion. I believe when he injured his achilles he wasn't even engaged in a block, and when he snapped his ankle someone simply rolled him up. Speed and/or quickness had nothing to do with those injuries. |

Did I go from green dot to red dot for having a different perspective? What does red dot mean?

When I was slower on the field (because I was playing w/ injuries) I always took the worst of the contact. the worst time was playing w/ groin pull and not having enough lateral push so I could not sidestep a linebacker. But like I said, no way of telling whether a quicker Jansen would or would not have been injured in those plays. |

Nothing personal, just an explanation. It most likely means that your voice sounds really muffled because you are talking out of your ass. |

How clever... |

I can't believe so many people dislike Heyer after last year.

I don't know if he's really disliked. I think he's a good story personally but am not convinced he can be a dominant RT. Hopefully I'm wrong. I hope i'm wrong about Jansen and Heyer. |

I don't think anyone dislikes him. But let's be honest, the guy looked okay with a TE or FB staying in to double Heyer's man. He looked like a late round pick (which is good considering he was a UDFA) and I think some people are calling a spade a spade. |

Who dislikes him? I simply think he has a long way to go before he's seriously pushing someone like Jansen for a starting job. The guy was an undrafted FA who played well, but also needed his fair share of help from TE's and backs. I think people's expectations are a bit unreasonable for him right now. |

It's like when Betts played well in 2006 and suddenly everyone was saying do we really need Portis. Well yeah we do, because when healthy Portis is so much more talented than Betts. But having a backup like Betts is a definite bonus. Just like having Heyer backing up Jansen is a plus for us. Heyer should only get better but to say people don't want him starting is not the same as not liking him. |

Good point. Nothing wrong with having quality depth which Heyer gives us. I just don't get why some people are so eager to shove Jansen aside. |
