I don't know about the rest of you, but Favres "up and down, coming or going, retiring or playing" antics for the past 3 years is beginning to bore the hell out of me.
I just want him to fight, fart or get off the damn fence. Make a decision and stick by it. On the other hand, it gives the media something to talk about during the deadest part of the off season.
I think this is the reason this topic is getting so much air-time. If there was other stuff to talk about around the league we would most likely be talking about it. It's either talk about Favre, or all the players getting arrested for assault or getting charged for DUI. |

Either commit to playing or come out and say once and for all, 'Regardless of what happens, I'm done!' but it's such an ego stroke to have the entire NFL world fawning over this decision. My respect for Favre diminishes each time I hear this foolishness rehashed. |
If the Packers release him, it would take less than 30 seconds for the Vikings to be all over that
They wouldn't be that stupid. No way is he going to a division rival. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
I really don't know how in conscience he could put on a Green Bay uniform again. Not to mention the media scrutiny he would be under every single week. Anything short of a Super Bowl trophy would be a bust.

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
In my humble opinion, Favre can do whatever he wants as far as deciding to play or not. He's a first ballot HOFer. If he plays 1 down on any team it's notable. He has broken tons of records (also most INTs record). Dude is a living legend and as I don't wanna sound like John Madden on this one, he's played thru injury, personal tragedy. loss and addiction. He is the slow and steady that wins the race. Favre has til September til I call him fickle.

I agree. I mean it's Brett Favre. After all he's done for the Pack & the league, he's one of the few guys that has earned the right to write his own ticket. I think this is comparable to Michael Jordan's return to the Bulls, and his situation was far more ludicrous. He left the 3-peat Bulls to play minor league baseball, and when he was ready to comeback, they welcomed him back with open arms. They didn't say, "Sorry, Mike. This is Scottie Pippen's team now. We've got to move on." The Packers have a way better shot at the Super Bowl this season if Brett Favre is at the helm and not Aaron Rogers. Let him have at it again, if he wants to play. |

Everything said about Favre so far has just been overblown rumor, he's done.

I don't if you guys have heard this yet but apparently Brett is interested in being a Carolina Panther.
I don't if you guys have heard this yet but apparently Brett is interested in being a Carolina Panther.
Brett Favre Wants To Play For The Panthers? - NFL
That's not a reputable link, that's just a rumor with no proof. #1- Favre is under contract with the Packers. #2- His contract would pay him over 12 mil if he played, which makes it hard for any team to pick him up unless they have a lot of cap space. #3- He would only come back if he played for a winner (he's made this clear), and while the Panthers fit the bill, the bears and dolphins do not. The Packers had 13 wins last year, why leave that? #4- Favre would not be a back up, that being said, the Panthers would not fit the bill. Only the bears and dolphins would, but again see #3. So while we are all talking crazy rumors (especially since Favre himself said there is nothing to all this talk) I think Favre will come out of retirement and sign with the Skins, take over the starting job, but befriends Campbell, and we will the super bowl. Yaaaaay! |
See Michael Jordan-Washington Wizards
See Jerry Rice-Denver Broncos See Emmit Smith-Arizona Cardinals Some people just don't know when to let it go..
Exactly! And I would add Joe Namath- Rams, Art Monk- Eagles and Johnny Unitas - Chargers. That being said, Rodgers has proven to be fragile and if he goes down Favre will be on a plane to Wisconsin and starting again. Short of that, don't expect him in uniform this season. |

That's just stupid. We have no need for Favre and will not let him play for us. I'd LOVE to see him on the Bears, just for the comedy and riots. It will be a hilarious way to die. |

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
This is all I found, from Peter King's column.
"Say they accept Favre back, then try to trade him. They're going to get, what, a third-round pick from Tampa Bay or the New York Jets or Washington for him? They'll forever be known as the men who sent the greatest Packer packing. And there's no guarantee Favre would agree to go to just any team if he chooses to come back. Don't put it past him and agent Bus Cook to refuse to report to a team Favre doesn't want to play for." Just another example of the Skins being lumped in whatever the rumor of the day is.
There's no way he's coming here. To think that there's even a possibility of it is simply retarded. |

Wow.
"Favre to Chad Johnson for a TD! Skins lead Dallas 42-0 just before halftime." Sure. Whackos. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
Probably not the exact same situation, but what would you say if Joe Gibbs announced today he wanted to come back and coach the Redskins.
If Coach Gibbs decided he still had the fire, he'd have been a lot quiter than Bus Cook and Favre have been. The only reason this is a big deal is that it was leaked. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
If the 'Skins were anywhere near a Superbowl bound team, then it might make sense. But they're missing some key players at other positions before Favre in Washington would be logical.

On the other hand, they think we're a vet qb away from the super bowl, that sounds crazy to me too, but at least in a good way. I actually question whether he could beat out JC for the starting job here. For that matter, I think even if he were coming back to GB, if they made the job an open competition, he would lose it to Rodgers. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
I hope he comes back and someone just lays him out while he lays on the field crying like he is annoucing his retirement again. In stead of him crying and saying it was not about the money or fame he'd be saying this aint worth the fame or the money as he gasp for air. He is then carted off the field never to heard from again. Heck I like to see a Skin lay him out.

No chance he comes here. I think Snyder/Cerrato/Zorn are too smart for that.

God I hope yo uare right. I think someone said on here and it was a good point: Whenever there is a major move player wise in the NFL it is always linked to the Redskins, simply because our history shows we are the most aggressive. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
Good point on the cap space. I'm sure our cap-masters could find a way, though.
Yeah, we do seem to be a lightening rod for controversial player moves. Hopefully a few years of stability will calm that down. |

haha, i don't know how smart zorn is yet but its hard to put it past snyder/cerrato. Just think about the jersey sales!!! But yea this is not happening. No way. Everyone likes to throw our name into the discussion. Every disgruntled player seems to be going to washington all the time. Its not going to happen. I don't want favre but just think about how cool it would be to see him at training camp. Definitely my favorite non redskin of all time. BUt i hope he stays my favorite NON-redskin of all time. |

The last thing he wants coming into a new team is a HOF veteran who is going to tell him to get bent anytime Zorn tries to give him advice. I think Zorn knows better than to lobby for Favre. |
re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Sources: Packers won't release Favre
In late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, Favre informed the team he wanted to play again, multiple sources have told FOXSports.com. Not only did he insist he was returning, both head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson agreed that he still had something left and they would welcome him back. Despite the fact that those close to Favre have stated Thompson did not want Favre back, Thompson was the deciding factor in agreeing it was not too late to have him un-retire at that time and start for the Packers in 2008. In fact, team brass went as far as chartering a jet to fly to Mississippi to make it official later that week. The agreement was that the NFL's all-time leading passer would return for the year but help make it easier and palatable for Rodgers, who would have to wait another season to take the helm. |
