Umm, nooo?? Not anymore, we are a sound team and we arent going to lose to someone like the cardinals or the raiders or the rams anymore. We have the type of talent that exploits mismatches and we are going to dominate this game. Portis always plays big against the cards and last year we would have tore them up if gibbs didnt do the conservative playcalling and then they almost came back, but thats not going to happen again. Our defense will put them away after our offense tears them up. Our offense is going to build off last weeks win and we will see the team start to gel better. Then teams better watch out

When was the last time we lost to a garbage team?? in 04-05 when we lost to the raiders?
You are so quick to dismiss the Cards, yet they are 2-0. Granted, they played SF and Miami, but SF did beat Seattle last week. They have 2 of the league's top receivers, and now that they have a decent O-Line, Warner has time to find them. A sound team does not look like they did against the Giants. While we're getting there, and you have great confidence, I would not look past the Cards. They are certainly much better than the Raiders and Rams you compare them to.

yes, and i will continue to dismiss the cardinals until they can beat us or until they can prove they are a good team.. IM not convinced they are good by beating the 49ers and the miami dolphins, give me a break.. And you saw the 49ers beat seattle?? are you serious??? MAtt Hassellbeck is injured and they have NO WEAPONS! so, end that talk, the seattle seahawks are not the same team we have faced in the past, if they were even half that team, the 49ers wouldnt have won. PLUs we are at home, and we are coming off a hot game.. They have a veryyy easy schedule, and im sorry but im not affraid of the cards.. We are a sound team guy, we have all our players we have had from last year and every team in the nfl has a bad game, hat was ours.. You are telling me the gians last year werent sound?? they were 0-2 and played us and beat us and we were 2-0.. your theory means nothing but good try mr.football

lol

oh yeah, i wanted to remind you that the lions have 2 of the gmaes best WR's too, but we stomped the dogpiss out of them last year, and we also beat the cardinals, and until late, we were winning by alot.. joe gibbs started with the vanilla play calling and trying to just hold on to the win instead of trying to keep scoring.. we arent gonna make that same mistake guy, trust me.

Well, we got beaten by double digits by the Falcons in '06, but anyway, why is Arizona a garbage team? They went 5-3 in the second half of last season and could have been a playoff team if they didn't start the season with Leinart at QB. Plus they've won 4 in a row dating back to last year. So we've got a team coming in this week that's won 7 outta their last 10 regular season games, and has a sick passing attack. Nobody thought New Orleans was garbage coming in last week. Funny, since they've now lost 3 out of their last 4 regular season games and had a worse record than AZ last year. Hmmmmm....

um actually, i knew the saints were gonna struggle against us because they are a dome team, and palying in that heat, and on natural surface is very different. PPLUSS, are you people forgetting, the CARDS have to come to OUR HOUSE! their last two wins are vs freakin horrid teams.. I guess if anyone thinks anything is coming other than a blowout by the Redskins they know nothing about football, huh? San Fran scored 33 points against a HEALTHY Seahawks defense in their house- one of the toughest places to play as a road team. Not saying the 49ers are great, but don't dismiss Arizona beating them in San Fran.

The Giants looked awful in their first two games last year, and weren't sound when we played them week 3. They caught fire in the second half of the season. They beat us week 3 because we had a pitiful second half and ran the same play 4 times at the goal line.

Yeah, we have a sound team. But that's not really a good argument for a blowout. We've found plenty of ways to blow games the last few seasons with much of the same "sound" team we have now. One win by 5 points doesn't give me endless confidence. Guy.

NO gets credibility they don't deserve since Katrina. The media and america has been pulling for them and they keep getting called "probably the best offense in the NFL". They're a sexy pick since that monday night shootout between them and ATL. (one of the best monday night games ever btw...) I picked them to be exposed last week and they were. They scored 24 on us, which is 7 more than I anticipated but they got that stupid punt return for a TD, which puts them in line with my expectations.

AZ has some dynamic recievers and a good solid veteran QB. You will not shut them out. IF they lined up in the same formation and ran the same goddamn play 30 straight times they would still score. They're good, but they don't have a run game to balance themselves out. Especially against our run D. they're not physical enough and Edge ain't exactly truckin and jukin his way to 100yd multi TD performances. Being one dimensional will lead to turnovers against our pass D... Not to mention when they get in the redzone their run game is out the window, unless its a trick play.

Their D doesnt scare me either and they will not get physical enough to stop our rushing attack without cheating up safeties, which they will pay for now that moss has his wheels back underneath him.

a win is a win, check the stats, that should be whats giving you confidence. PLus the fact last year we could have won every game that we lost except 1 and that was the patriots. I think sometimes people OVERLOOK us and forget that we arent a pushover team, and when we are healthy, we are VERY hard to beat, and we are pretty damn healthy. Rogers has been worked back into the lineup and him smoot and springs help us VERY much. You saw waht rocky mac did and washington will be back in right? Jason Taylor is starting to get in his groove and they will have to choose who they want to double team, carter or taylor. The fact is the Cardinals have NOT beat a team with the defense and talent we have, and it will show on sunday when we come out with the win. Thats all im gonna say, GUY.

I agree, 100% Our defense will be able to keep them one dimensional and that will play to our advantage. Kurt warner is going to be experiencing major pressure in which he has not had to face yet. That will cause mistakes, which wil lcause turnovers, which hopefully we can get points off of. Portis will have his first 100+ games and 1 TD and hopefully we do not turn hte ball over, but you never know. I just feel like our team comes to play and everyone is still playing with S.Taylor in their hearts. Rookies are stepping up and helping us win and thats huge, thats exactly how the giants won last year.. hopefully we can follow that

Momentum is a dish best served hot and right out of the gate. The fact that the Cards played the 9ers and 'Phins only help them in regards to facing the Skins...and the 9ers beating the Seahawks in Seattle, no matter who's on the field, goes a long way. And a bulging disk, while painful, isn't much of an injury. He will line up under center on Sunday, and that by any means does not make up for their failure.

And as you point out, the Skins are coming off a hot game (pardon the pun)...the Cards are coming off 2 hot games, where they scored 30+ to their opponents 11.5. Again, momentum...do not be overconfident. The past does not represent fact for the present. It may help, but doesn't not 100% represent fact.

The Giants were carried down the stretch and into the Super Bowl on the backs of Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, and the rest of the defense. The icing on the cake was that Manning got hot in the playoffs. They weren't sound when the Skins lost to them in Week 3 and were running cold in Week 15 when the Skins beat them. It was the 6 game winning streak starting with Week 3 that allowed them to limp into the playoffs at 10-6 and play lights out at the right time.

The difference between the Cards WRs and the Lions WRs (besides the QB throwing to them) is experience. That will trump the youthfulness that Johnson and Williams have.

yeah man it's cool, im just giving you my opinion on why I think other teams should watch out for us, especially if we continue to play like we did last week, and I think we will. It was the perfect time to start gelling and I think Campbells confidence will reflect in our offense this sunday. Warner is getting some age on him and we will see how he reacts after taking some shots. We will continue to be ball-hawks and our defense will swarm. Our guys are playing more natural and playing off instincts instead of trying to trick, and that has put us in places to make plays.

BD, do you not understand?? they beat two teams that had a combined record of what?? 6 wins and 26 losses? when they start beating some good teams, then we can start talking about how good the cardinals are, until then, you are everything you are saying pretty much on the fact they beat horrible san fran and the even worse miami dolphins... They have played NO ONE, and we have beat them the last 6 times we have played them , AND we are playing at OUR house. THe Cardinals would lose to the Saints, and they are gonna lose to us.

besides, it doesnt matter if you have the best defense in the league, if you cant score points, you arent gonna win, and thats why the seahawks got beat.

If offense didnt matter, the raiders would have won more games than they have the past 3 years. in fact, didnt the raiders have a top 5 or 10 defense the past 2 years? I know they had a great defense

Again, overall they've won 7 of their last 10 regular season games including the last 4 in a row, and their offense is clicking on all cylinders. So what if the 9ers and Phins aren't good? Arizona took full advantage of that fact and they have great rhythm going right now. They did what a good team should do to bad teams- spanked them.

I agree with BD - Arizona playing well and scoring in bunches against bad teams is actually worse for us this weekend than if they had been struggling against good teams. Their offense has great tempo and could give us some problems.

they havent faced a defense like ours yet, and we actually have an offense that can score points. The cardinals are going to be throwing alot, and thats not news to anyone! Our defense will turn them 1-demensional and they will struggle on the ground. I dont see edge rushing for more than 50 yards against our run-D. Jason Taylor or Andre Carter will have a big game, depending on who they double team. LaRon will also have a big game and our secondary is finally healthy.

Skins 25 (safety on Warner and 3 FGs that should have been TDs leading to weird point total)
Cards 20

you heard it here first

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

we let the cardinals come back last year in the 4th, we were winning by like 2 or 3 tds and then gibbs got conservative and the D started giving up huge yards and then TDS's then Rackers barely missed the FG to help us win.

Its gonna be a different story this year though, the team has put a highlight on starting strong early and then we dont have to barely sneak into the playoffs, hopefully they can stick to that strategy because if we cant beat the cards we are gonna have a hard year

HAILItsGAMEDAY 09-18-2008 03:46 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

Redskins 35
Cards 17
One-Two punch Portis and Betts. Betts being a huge factor in this game. Skins will send the cards back to Arizona with their first LOSS. If we can't put up big numbers against Arizona, then there's just no way we can win against teams in our division.
HAIL!

HAIL, I agree with you man, we have wayyy tougher oponents that we are gonna need to beat, we better beat the cards. If we can't, we will struggle. Hopefully the team isnt overconfident and respects the cards like alot of memebers o nthis site do, then we can come out and crush them. We need to show other teams in our divsion we are pretty damn good ourselves
they beat two teams that had a combined record of what?? 6 wins and 26 losses?
Actually 1 win and 3 losses, but that 1 win being against an '07 playoff team, in their house, where they were 9-1 last year.
THe Cardinals would lose to the Saints, and they are gonna lose to us.
Romper Room must have let out early today...there is no reason to state this because you have no idea what would happen if these 2 teams met.
besides, it doesnt matter if you have the best defense in the league, if you cant score points, you arent gonna win, and thats why the seahawks got beat.
The Seahawks got beat because they let up and couldn't get the job done. Putting up 30 points at home in this league usually means a W. Two Seattle turnovers in the 2nd half led to 14 49ers points...
If offense didnt matter, the raiders would have won more games than they have the past 3 years. in fact, didnt the raiders have a top 5 or 10 defense the past 2 years? I know they had a great defense
Let's see. Raiders 2007 D: 22nd in the league total yards, 27th in league total points allowed. Raiders 2006 D: 3rd in league total yards, 18th in league total points allowed. Not exactly a great defense.

Go back and reread what I said. I never said offense didn't matter. I said the Giants D carried them into the Super Bowl and that Manning got hot at the right time.
oh lord, whatever guys.. when sunday comes, and we stomp the cards, you will know what I was talking about. That's all fair and good, but 2 games into the season, the Skins have played solid ball for 2+ quarters. The simple fact that all they could muster in the 1st half against the Saints was 5 measly FG attempts has me concerned about punching the ball in for 6. And it took a weary Saints defense for the Skins to come alive and win.

Oh, and if the Skins to shut down the Passing game, Edge and Hightower may not be AP and LT, but they can do some damage.

2+ quarters? did you not watch the whole game? we dominated the saints THE WHOLE GAME dude.. How can you discredit the redskins win that much? the stats and replays showed we dominated 4 quarters of that game, even though the score didnt show it.

I agree the 1st half we left points on the field, but we were still dominating them. They were put into scoring position when randle el fumbled and then reggie bush got that punt return. Those points should not have been

we we're 33% in redzone effeciency and that will improve as malcolm kelly and devin thomas hopefully start getting used to the speed of the game. Kelly could especially help us in the redzone.. Our offense is still new and the players are now getting used to it so they will only play better. with that redzone effeciency , they better

I did watch the whole game, and I discredited their play in the 1st half because while they could drive the ball down the field, they couldn't get the job done. It's like taking the Prom Queen into your Pimpin' Ride, driving her up to Lovers Lane, and then taking her home without hitting the home run.

You can dominate between the 20s all you want, but if you can't punch it in for 6, that is not dominant. And because of that "dominance", the Skins went into the locker room down 1, and went into the 4th quarter down 9. You don't dominate an entire game and have to come back in the 4th quarter to win.

A dominating effort would have been TDs on the Saints 2 1st quarter turnovers, not field goals. Again, your enthusiasm is awesome, but do not discredit the other team because of your blind faith.
And it took a weary Saints defense for the Skins to come alive and win.

Oh, and if the Skins to shut down the Passing game, Edge and Hightower may not be AP and LT, but they can do some damage.
Think about what you just said. Perhaps the Saints D was "weary" because of us! And don't use injuries or travelling as an excuse. Fact is thier front four is excellent and we had a good game plan.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

The Saints defense spent over 9 minutes on the field in the 4th quarter (Possession was Skins 34:14, Saints 25;46, or about a 10 minute swing), on a hot and humid Landover MD day, in black jerseys, without the help of the Z-Shades. I think that could have had a bit to do with it as well...four 300 lb guys, no matter how fit they are, will break down physically in those kind of conditions.

Wow!! You really just used weather and jersey color as an excuse as to why we beat the Saints.. Put down the Madden dude and watch real football.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals predictions

Thank you for putting words into my mouth. I never said it was the SOLE factor of the Saints breaking down...I said it could have a bit to do with it.

I also said in Post #68 that the Skins have played 2 solid quarters of ball this year...referring to the 2nd half against the Saints. So I would imagine that anyone could put together that 2 solid quarters of football plus the Saints defense breaking down in the 4th quarter would lead to a 5 point victory. But since you are questioning it...here it is again:

2 solid quarters of football plus the Saints defense breaking down in the 4th quarter would lead to a 5 point victory
besides, it doesnt matter if you have the best defense in the league, if you cant score points, you arent gonna win, and thats why the seahawks got beat.

If offense didnt matter, the raiders would have won more games than they have the past 3 years. in fact, didnt the raiders have a top 5 or 10 defense the past 2 years? I know they had a great defense
Actually have to contradict that a bit, although it is a rare instance I grant you.

But in the year that the Ravens won the Super Bowl, they did not score an offensive TD the final 6 games of the regular season. All points were scored by the defense and Special Teams.

I would agree that our offense was on point for only 2 quarters. But you attributed the win (and our O coming alive) to the Saints being tired! As if it was an unfair advantage that it was hot and humid and that we held the ball longer. It was a team win any way you slice it. You should be extremely happy (if in fact, your are a redskins fan) that our offense clicked 2 games into the season with a new head coach and a new offense.

Hey Dirty,

Is Bohnzie..even taking into consideration that... ARE fumbled and that lead to 7 points because we basically gave them the ball in the end zone and that we picked off two passes and recovered a Shocky fumble..and that another 7 of their points cameon a punt return?

Obviously not. If not for the punt return and fumble. It probably would have been more convincing to those who didn't watch the game.

Then he brings up time of possession. Well that means they couldn't stop us with the ball. Which is also proof of dominance on both sides of the ball. Not COMPLETE dominance but but we can only get better.

HTTR!!

Couldn't agree more, DMV. If we win and put up 500 yards of offense against Arizona, it will probably be because they are from Arizona and that their defense got unexpectedly tired towards the end of the game. LOL.

hahahah dirty

DMV, you know what's up man, as with most of us do. We got this game on sunday (if we come out and build on last weeks win of course) but of course, anything could happen. I feel like we are going to dominate though, just a feeling. I had the same feeling last week too!
