Re: Time for a good look at Shaun Alexander

I think SA might end up doing well. On most of his runs the defense has been in the backfield when he got the ball. And I remember him dragging a lot of people to get a first down. Let's hope for the best. (If Moss is on the field we should be able to run.)

I mean, by all indications that I can tell...I think Betts is going to start and Alexander will end up backing him up. I'm pretty much expecting now Portis to be out. If both Betts and Portis are out, I really like Rock and hope he sees a good bulk of the carries to be honest with you. I feel like he's a really tough runner and will play alot like Portis. I have never been a huge Alexander guy...If we can just have some sembalance of a running attack, I think we'll be ok. Its really the pass blocking where I'm a little more concerned.

Why hasn't Sellers been more involved in the offense this year anyway? I am not understanding that. Is it because he is the only true fullback we have on the team?

Re: Time for a good look at Shaun Alexander

Portis is the face of this year's Washington Redskins. The Skins most likely will be without Portis against the Cowboys. That means the rest of the team will have to pull more weight. The defense will have to create turnovers to put the offense in easy scoring position. The offensive line will have to step up and create big holes for Ladell Betts, Rock Cartwright and Shawn Alexander. Campbell will have to make good decisions and have an error free day. The receivers will have to step up and create big plays down field. I think the Skins can get it done. It will take a team effort.

Re: Time for a good look at Shaun Alexander

If portis is out then IMO Campbell has to step up and get some longer completions downfield to spread the Dallas defense out and keep them from putting 8 guys in the box. Lets not kid ourselves, SA is not even close to Portis and will not hit the holes like Portis does. If Campbell can't keep the defense honest, it will be a long evening.

He's been really involved actually, just not with the ball in his hands. Portis wouldn't be having such a stellar season if it wasn't for Seller's lead blocking. As far as a ball carrier, he's really only good for short yardage/goal line stuff. But in previous seasons we've seen him just wreck some defenders when he gets the ball in the flat on screens/short passes. I don't think Zorn plans on using him much though.
This is a must win for the redskins, they lost the last home game, can't afford to lose this one, especially at home again. Play Portis!!
I dont like to disagree, but we are gonna need portis in the upcoming games, so i think we can rest him. When we play dallas, and i said this before the first time we played them when they seemed immortal, i said that someway somehow we find ways to beat dallas, and if you need an example think back 2 years to the game vs dallas at home. We should rest portis for this week and if we have to, next week at seattle, so he can be 100% against ny giants. I want SA starting. On a side note, i think SA should have some carries next week in seattle.

i have confidence in him...more than i have in rock..hes had some time to let his legs get fresh again. he wont be able to carry the team like portis, but its time for campbell to step up and have a good day

Re: Time for a good look at Shaun Alexander

I like a good double doseage of Betts and Alexander this weekend. Let Portis get healed up for the playoffs, we paid Betts a huge check a couple years to come in and back Portis up if this happened again. I like Alexander to help give Betts a break, but I am just not 100 percent sold he would do a better job then Ladell. I did enjoy that video of Alexanders runs though, I wish I knew how to do stuff like that!

Hmmm good studying of Shaun, he appears to be doing some good things and bad things. Never really quite noticed any of them untill i watched this, i hope sunday night Shaun Alexander shows up and plays like he did Seatle, even it is for one game.

Yeah if Alexander plays well against Dallas we should start him against Seattle anyways, just to give Portis more of a rest (and mostly because Seattle isn't doing much this season). Against Dallas I expect Rock and SA to split carries in the first quarter, and depending on who is toting it better Zorn will begin to hand it to that person more.

In involved I mean running and catching the ball. I remember not too long ago he caught ..was it 7 TDs. I think he could defintiely be used in that fashion to catch people off guard and be another weapon which we can never have to many of. Ihope we use Davis more this game and Ihope Devin finally shows up.

I dont know where all this looking good and hope comes from. We can have hope for him to have a good game but from the clips I saw on that video..Umm. He didn't look good. He hesitates at the hole too much. He had maybe two good plays on that video. I dont know where all the optimism comes from as far as this video goes. But I hope I am wrong. But that video shows me nothing.

I doubt Sellers will be catching the ball under Zorn.
Those TD catches were based off of Gibbs offensive system that relied on play action and misdirection.

How many times have you seen play action under Zorn?
He either runs or throws.

If he cant get a pass to our rookies...what makes you think he will throw to what he sees as a run blocker?
I hate to tell you...but Zorn has not seen Sellers run or catch since he's gotten here, he doesn't know what he doesn't know.

I definitely agree. He doesn't know what he doesn't know. Because if he knew he would use Sellers atleast a little bit more. Draw up atleast a play or two for him. Just to catch people off guard.

I really hope that Betts can go. Alexander doesn' run with the intensity that Betts and Portis run with. It's good to have him there as insurance but I still would rather have Betts go tommorrow night.

i sure hope we don't start SA or sellers at HB... that'd be pretty terrible.

give it to betts, if he's hurt, give it to rock. sellers would be a last resort since he can only do dive plays and has a higher chance of fumbles.

I'd love to see SA relive his seattle days, but that was a monster OL up there and he was younger too.

Have you all seen enough of the TTB? Ever wish you had a second rate leading rusher from preseason? I bet some of you are missing Mason now huh. Maybe we can pull another trade with the Jets for Mason....maybe a couple of draft picks. lol.

We have seen enough of TTB. Why is he still on the team??..lol. Well I guess we can't cry over spilled milk. Maybe we can resign Mason after this season..

I agree Betts need to get the ball & give Portis a break. I noticed one thing about Portis when he stands next to Alexander he is one thick dude. PS how do I get a pic under my name?

Betts in injured again, so we'll see even less of him. As for Shaun Alexander, we should all be able to see now why his phone wasn't ringing.

Shaun Alexander looks like he is about to fumble for some reason.

Re: Time for a good look at Shaun Alexander

The Tip Toe Burgler Shaun Alexander looks washed up. He does not run with any kind of authority. He runs scared. He either runs into the pile and falls to the ground or he hesitates/stutter steps and he gets tackled. He is frustrating the way he runs. I wonder why the coaches and FO office put up with it. Do they not see the film of the games?
Rock Cartwright and Mike Sellers have earned their stripes, they should be playing. Shaun Alexander has not earned the start! He has had his chances and has not shown a thing.
