Pierce's wife is hot and I wouldn't mind honoring her in anyway she pleases. As for Pierce himself, he might be interested in doing some math.
If I remember it correctly Pierce was openly told by Gibbs that he was a core Redskin. I remember Gibbs saying that and how bad we needed to keep this guy. That was in 04 when Pierce led one of the best defenses in the NFL. So if you're told that by Gibbs and they let you walk how would you feel? All this while we over pay for certain free agents who couldn't play yet we do not pay one of our own who proved it on the field. No question Pierce should've handled it differently but I understand his bitterness. He wanted to stay here.
Check it out, but I think the offers were about the same from both teams

Re: Looks like Pierce has been a naughty boy this year...

I think the difference essentially came down to a $6 million signing bonus versus a $4 million signing bonus. But just like Gibbs was saying they really wanted to keep Pierce. Pierce was saying he'd be willing to take less to stay a Redskin, which of course he didn't. The Redskins had already kept Pierce from leaving when the Vikings made an offer for him, but they just didn't do it twice. It happens, move on...yet Pierce can't.
How do you know that he was drunk and on top of that drunk driving. If you read the article it stated the lady drove them to the hospital. If we are going to bash someone atleast stick to facts.
First, I really don't give a sh*t about Pierce. If you read the article it stated they drank two bottles of Patron and they were out partying for a while (at different locations) before Plaxico shot himself. Did the article say she was the designated driver all night? So, he could have drove earlier.

Re: Looks like Pierce has been a naughty boy this year...

If the difference was nothing more than a $6M signing bonus vs a $4M signing bonus then that would have to be the only time in Danny Boy's ownership where a couple of million dollars kept the Skins from getting/keeping a player "they really wanted".

Something here does not ring true.

When the Skins sign a free agent away from another team for big bucks, usually the player says it was just a business matter - - and given what the Skins pay for some free agents that makes a lot of sense. Same thing happens when other players sign with new teams.

So Pierce "made this personal". Question is why?

Maybe he's a nasty person at the core - - but then how would Joe Gibbs have thought he was a "core Redskin"? Remember, Gibbs values people who are pure of heart.

Or maybe the wheeling and dealing tried by the FO at the time of those contract negotiations got under his skin and he thought the team was "disrespectful" - - whatever the hell that means.

Too many players leave the Redskins feeling "disrespected" or "not wanted" as compared to folks around the league. Pierce, Coles, Arrington, Bailey, B-Mitch come to mind. Other Redskins who left on less than fully positive terms include Bobby Mitchell - - merely a Hall of Famer who had been with the Skins in one capacity or another for about 40 years.

Where there's smoke, there just may be a fire...

It's in large part because many players feel like since the Redskins have been known to sign large contracts for some players they should just do it for everyone. Of course, let's just ignore all the players that stay or even come back. Plus B-Mitch technically came back as well I believe, and Bailey's problems were his own.
You're leaving out the main part Giantone. I said he basically comes across as a jerk. He was one of my favorite players until he got a big head and started acting like a prima donna. I feel the same way about him leaving as any other player. If you don't want to play for the Redskins, fine, seeya. But there is no need to badmouth the team after you leave. He wasn't treated badly. And that BS with Kendall in our first game just shows what he has become. Even after the Super Bowl he acted like a moron. "PUT THAT IN YOUR PAPERS! WRITE THAT." Please. Real Classy. There's no need to be upset with us because your team is going in the toilet Giantone. I can promise you we had nothing to do with it. :)
Nope I didn't leave anything out,as sportscurmudgeon said........"Too many players leave the Redskins feeling "disrespected" or "not wanted" as compared to folks around the league. 11-3 and our season is in the toilet...LOL.....dam I hope we're this bad all the time.:) Fact the Skins are notorious for paying other teams free agents more money then their own and that is what makes them leave. How much is Jason Taylor making yet what has he done for the Skins, does Andre Carter make as much,he's sure as hell played better and more.

Just treat them all the same way,it's fair. The discussion was about AP leaving...nobody is forgetting or ignoring anyone.Pretty sure B-Mitch came to the only team that would have him and could you expand about Bailey, what were "his" problems?

My opinion that Pierce is a jerk has nothing to do with B-Mich, Bailey, Arrington or anyone else. T.O. never played for the Redskins and I think he's a jerk too. If you like him fine. I don't.

If that were the case I'd lose half of my friends. But he's dumb as hell openly acting like this in public when people know who he is. What a total dumb ass.
It's not right and he is certainly dumb, but him cheating on his wife is not news worthy is all I am saying. Plax shooting himslef and Pierce hiding the gun...that is news wrothy...the girls they were parading around with is not news worthy.
i get the point that Pierce doesn't. it is strictly business. you cant cry about loyalty, and then just sign with the highest bidder. sometimes i really think that he wishes he would have stayed
If he had ,he would'nt have a super bowl ring.

So in summary, since we're for all intents and purposes out of the playoff picture you're jumping on another bandwagon until they are eliminated as well and you'll switch back to a Redskins avatar or you'll just move to another team still in contention?

What do you mean treat them all the same way? That doesn't make sense. I wasn't the one who brought up all the other names in the first place.

Mitchell re-signed with the Redskins for one day at the end of his career so he could retire a Redskin.

Let's just say Bailey had problems more serious than Pierce, but along the same lines of misconduct.

Just what I said treat every negotiation in the same manner, are you subject to special knowledge about Bailey that the rest of us don't know,I know Smoot was a player but never heard a word about Bailey and I still don't know what sort of misconduct you mean Pierce has not been charged with a thing.

I liked AP when he was here and really wanted to keep him.

BL - was that he went to the Gints for a slightly higher bid [10.8 mill vs. 10.0 mill] if my memory is correct.

He has blasted the Redskins every since then in the media - every chance he can get.

This dude is dead to me and he screwed up huge.

BYE.

Some players are simply worth more, it's just how it is. You can't treat every negotiation the same.

and yes I am subject to special knowledge that a few others know, but it's niether here nor there. This thread is about AP after all

Yeah but it's about how AP and other ex-Skins feel about the way were mistreated by the Skins, and the perception is they were'nt treated fairly.

Re: Looks like Pierce has been a naughty boy this year...
I hate Pierce. After no other team in football thought he was worth squat, the Redskins decided to take a chance on him by signing him to their practice squad, and after years of investing in his development, he turned into a pro-bowl caliber MLB. Then, when the Skins decided not to give him an obnoxiously outrageous contract, he angrily claimed he was being disrespected, then went to a rival and talked sh*t about the Skins to anyone who would listen. After leaving the Skins for more money (which is perfectly acceptable, after all it is a business), he should have been on his knees thanking the Redskins for giving him his career, and harboring no ill will. But instead, he acted like a spoiled crybaby.

That being said, the guy's a 30 year old, millionaire professional athlete. Are we honestly going to waste time with inflated indignancy over a fun time he was having in a strip club? C'mon, that's ridiculous.
Boy, things really change...my impression was that we low-balled Pierce after he had a great season here. I don't think you can blame him for taking a big contract. We should have done a better job securing him before he went on the open market.

He's also a solid player and one of the leaders on that defense (which most would consider to be an elite NFL D).
