Is it not amusing to think what Tom Landry's appraisal of all things Dallas might be?

Just two more lame reality shows that I will not be watching. Even if the shows are terrible (which they are likely to be) the end result is that the Cowboys stay in the media forefront, which is right where they want to be.

Re: Survivor NFL: Win a spot on the Dallas Cowboys!

I'm getting tired of the Cowboys. And part of it is ESPN and NFL Network always sniffing Jerry Jones' balls. Enough of it already. Every single time there is any type of news about the Cowboys it gets front page news. Why? Why do I have to listen to TO talk about how much he loves Romo when he's at a basketball game? Who the hell gives a damn? It's not like they've won anything. And this reality TV crap is just a bunch of garbage but I'm sure the sports networks will be telling us all about it. What a joke.

It just keeps going and going. Receiver Roy E. Williams (the same guy who didn't do anything this past season despite Dallas giving up 1st, 3rd, and 6th round picks and a $45M extension for his services), says that Dallas had the easiest offense in the league to figure out, and that the 0-16 Lions practiced harder. HA!

Anyone else just tickled that Wade "Puppet" Phillips wasn't fired??

Good call. I started this thread initially to mock Michael Irvin's stupid reality show, but it pleasantly snowballed into a "mock the cowboys for their circus of a football team" thread.

And it continues... :)

More news from Jerry's Circus. Apparently it's gag order time.

JERRY JONES TURNS TUNA WITH HIS TEAM

Posted by Mike Florio on February 21, 2009, 9:44 a.m.

This is one of the stories that we had on our list on Friday, just before the hamster was Kevorkianed. We’d then forgotten all about it, until we saw a quick mention of it on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones apparently has informed his employees that they’re not permitted to talk about the team.
Though Jones has not yet acknowledged such an addition to the official employee handbook, the evidence comes from coach Wade Phillips, who declined to speak with reporters as he arrived in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine.
“Can’t talk,” Phillips told reporters. “Against the rules.”
The sudden lock-down approach by an owner who grins whenever the word “Cowboy” is uttered by the media (even when it’s in reference to actual cowboys) indicates the extent of the crisis that currently is afflicting Valley Ranch.
In our view, Jones believes that he’s losing control of the situation surrounding his team. So issuing a proclamation of this nature provides him with a superficial sense that he’s still in charge.
It also suggests that he no longer thinks that any publicity is good publicity.
From a legal standpoint, the new rule might provide Jones with sufficient evidence to block a buyout if he were to develop evidence that Phillips or offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, each of whom earn more than $3 million per year, had violated the decree.
And while the approach copies one of the primary components of the Bill Parcells approach to running a football team, the Tuna’s “one voice” system usually designates the head coach as the one voice.
As to the Cowboys, apparently the “one voice” until further notice will be Jones himself.
We used to scoff at the suggestions that Jones will someday install himself as the head coach. Though we still don’t think it’s a realistic possibility, we no longer are scoffing.

Re: Survivor NFL: Win a spot on the Dallas Cowboys!
And this in from Troy Aikman:

Aikman: Romo hasn't 'fully grasped' being 'Boys QB
by FOXSports.com

Troy Aikman, who does color commentary for NFL on FOX broadcasts, called out quarterback Tony Romo in a radio interview Tuesday for some questionable actions and comments during the young QB's career.

"I think maybe things happened so quickly for Tony in terms of obscurity to all of a sudden national spotlight that he hasn't fully grasped what being the Cowboys quarterback is all about," Aikman said to former teammate Michael Irvin, who hosts a radio show on ESPN Radio. "And you don't go to Cabo the week before a playoff game. You just don't do it.

"It didn't take away from his preparations. I know that. I mean, everything he says is I think accurate. I don't think that had any bearing. But to say, 'I don't worry about perception,' you better worry about perception, because it's a big part of making it through some very difficult times."

Romo went on a vacation with singer and girlfriend Jessica Simpson during the Cowboys' bye week during the playoffs last season. Dallas lost to the eventual Super-Bowl champion Giants.

Romo ended three weeks of silence Wednesday night..."I'm definitely going to take a more active approach with that as we move forward..." yada, yada, yada...zzzzzzzz.
What's funny about this to me is how many Cowboys fans are on his bandwagon as if he is the best thing since Troy Aikman. Do these people not realize that he has been on the Cowboys roster for, what, 7 years now? If he hasn't figured out what it means to be a starting QB in this league at this point, he never will.

Most Cowboys fans are bandwagon fans. A few months ago I left a comment on an ESPN article, and there was a Cowboys fan talking a bit of smack. I started to ask him why he was a Dallas fan being from California (San Francisco) and being fan of mostly CA teams in other sports (basketball, hockey, baseball). So he told me that during the 90s, the Cowboys were the only good team that he saw on TV. I didn't pursue that matter further, but it seems that this guy was under a rock when the 49ers were a perennial playoff team in the 90s.

You have a point. My brother & I were talking today about how the Redskins are one of those teams where, if you are a fan, you are a fan. You don't jump on & off the bandwagon depending on their w/l columns. The Cowboys on the other hand have more bandwagon jumpers then AA meetings & most of them...well, what I hear in my head is "Rocky...road...?"

That being said, one of my best friends is a die-hard Cowboys fan from DC. When I ask him why he's a Cowboys fan, he says it's because he wanted to be against everyone else. Everyone around him was a Redskins fan growing up & that is simply his personality. He has never jumped on or off simply because they were winning or losing. He is also one of the most knowledgeable football fans that I know...& as a Cowboys fan, he HATES Romo.

I watched this show last night and it was actually pretty good. I can tell you it no tea party and by the end of the workouts half of the guys where blowing grits. Most of the guys where people thought good enough to get drafted but for one reason or another never made it. Some had injury issues, another needed to take care of his family, one had drug issue, some say they just ahd bad agents that cost them spots in the NFL. Last night they worked on special teams as they feel thats their best chance to get on the team. They even did some pretty hard hitting as these guys view this as there last chance to get in the NFL.

Didn't really mind Bates and the other coach, but Irvin makes me want to vomit. I keep thinking when he's giving his motivational rah, rah crap, about teammates depending on you in the 4th qtr., if that applies to teammates whose throat he cut.
