Regardless of the legality of the ruling, I hope Clarrett and the others have considered their future beyond the average 4 years of a player in the NFL. One big payday may be all one needs, but the Hall-Of-Fame is littered with unskilled, bankrupt ex-players.

In the past the player were not paid like they are now. The minimum salary is something like $400,000. You can always go back to college. If you are a top 15 player and get a career ending injury in college, you will be screwed out of millions.

Maybe, but I think that some of these kids' best chance to get a degree is the fact that they have an athletic scholorship and some sort of school-sponsored guidance. While they may have the chance to go back to college later, they will have to motivate themselves, assuming that they already dealt with the demise of their NFL careers. I think the majority of these kids would not make it through school without the athletics. |
