I think we let Kendall walk if we think Jansen can be a good backup guard/Tackle. If we get Dock, I think we can completely turn our offensive line around in two years: 2009 Starters LT: Samuels LG: Dockery C: Rabach RG: Thomas RT: Andre Smith (worth the risk if he's there at 13) 2009 Backups Heyer - T Jansen - G, T Rinehart - G Geisinger - C 2010 Starters LT: Smith LG: Dockery C: Geisinger/UFA/Draft Pick RG: Rinehart/UFA/Draft Pick RT: Samuels |

I haven't looked at the numbers but I might let Thomas walk. Kendall isn't going to be in high demand so I'd keep him around as a relatively cheap backup. Thomas worries me, coming off major neck and back surgery. But if we bring in Dockery to be our LG again, and then let's say draft Oher put him at RT and maybe slide Jansen inside? or Smith and keep Jansen outside? Either way, the Redskins have the upper hand here. They let Dockery walk for big, big money...and now he's the one out of a job. |

For once a resounding yes.
Alright heres the plan. FA: Chris Cantry DE/DT, Derrick Dockery LG, Andre Smith Draft, 3rd round OLB. |

Re: Dockery Cut:
I like to see him back and I think it helps when guys go else where for the big money then find themself out of a job it makes what they had look that much better. So if we do sign hime I guess we will here the same stuff. I should not have chased the money, I wasn't really happy playing there, I really missed the fans, I know there are some more standard lines that I'm missing.

Re: Dockery Cut:
I think this Dockery news suddenly puts Hall on the backburner, though they'd still like to keep him of course.

Re: Dockery Cut:
so if a player is cut, can we talk to him before friday, or is that still tampering

I say **** him, We gave him his shot a put up with all his mistakes while he was learning. Just so he could take off soon as a big offer came. I'll stick with Kendall.
I say **** him, We gave him his shot a put up with all his mistakes while he was learning. Just so he could take off soon as a big offer came. On top of that teams are suppose to develop talent in order to win, it's not like we got nothing out of him. Hell theres a reason so many people here want him back. |

do you still have a nose? |
Re: Dockery Cut:
I think we should bring him back in ala Smoot. To me the interesting thing here is how cheap the Bills are. They are only saving 450,000 against the cap so obviously they are just cutting him to avoid the cash bonus. It doesn't even make sense otherwise.

If he is cut then he isn't on anyones roster. There is no tampering. |
Re: Dockery Cut:

LOL, i do have a tendancy to get wordy. I think any of the "Big 4" could start right away, although no one at 13 could play LT right away (I want to move samuels to the right side ASAP). IF we trade down to below the 20th pick, I think Britton, Beatty, and Troy Kopog could possibly start right away at RT and be an upgrade over jansen and Heyer, but neither of them seems to have the potential to develop into a "franchise" RT, let alone LT. Duke Robinson could start at guard right away, but if we get Dockery, i dont see us being interested... unless we gave him a shot at Tackle, but thats risky. Obviously, I like some of the centers available, but i dont think we can really afford to address that position this year. |

Welcome to the preview of the post-salary cap era when the Bills will have a $15 million payroll. |

finally, a lineman under the age of 30. but im not so sure he would be that cheap. i would take him back.

Re: Dockery Cut:
I think this Dockery news suddenly puts Hall on the backburner, though they'd still like to keep him of course.
I mentioned it in the Hall thread, but im starting to cool off on Hall. I really think he's going to command a larger contract than he's worth (and thats coming from someone who most of you think highly over-values Hall). There are plenty of young corners available who may not have the playmaking ability that Hall has, but who have good coverage skills and who could be had at a lower price. If I had to make a choice between signing Hall or signing Dockery and someone like Buchannon, then its not even a choice - "Bye Bye, Hall. Enjoy wearing that ugly 50th anniversary logo on your helmet." |

lol perfect response I knew sooner or later someone would be against it. There's gotta always be someone that goes against logical thinking. |

Imagine how easy it'll be for us to make trades with no salary cap. With cheap teams like the Bills and Cardinals it'll be like shooting fish in a barrell. At the sake of sounding like a lister how about LT - Samuals LG - Dockery C - 3rd Round Prospect RG - Brandon Moore RT - Andre Smith I know it's not realistic with all the money constraints and the fact that only one draft pick will be used on OL but it looks really pretty. |

Has he ever played on the Right side? Didn't we fail at a similar experiment with Fabini at guard? Was it Fabini or Wade? I cannot remember. |
Re: Dockery Cut:
Played some RT in college, in the pros I'm not sure

It was Wade. But I think Dockery is a better player than Wade. Ideally though, I'd like to see a rookie stud lineman at RT. |

Hey just got cut by the team that gave him a huge contract. That affect his ability to ask for more money. The advantage we have is that he's been here before and did well while playing for Buges. |
Re: Dockery Cut:
It's kind of funny how we used the comp pick we got for losing Dockery on Rinehart, a guy we thought would replace Dockery...and now we could just be getting Dockery back anyway.

Re: Dockery Cut:
A couple of comments:
1. Once a player is cut/released he is a free agent and there are no tampering restrictions related to other teams contacting him and signing him. See Gibril Wilson and his deal with the Dolphins as an example... 2. Good to see that all the Warpathers who were so angry when Dockery left here to sign with the Bills have forgiven him. 3. Someone had the 2009 OL with the following people as back-ups: Heyer, Jansen, Rhinehart and Geisinger. That is a recipe for needing to go through all of 2009 with no injuries to the OL starters. Jansen is the ONLY player there who has shown ANY consistent abiltiy to play at the NFL level and he is clearly on the downslope of his career. Heyer reportedly works hard and tries hard - - but on Sundays he strives to be adequate. Geisinger played a couple of snaps last year and looked shell-shocked. Rhinehart could not show enough to get dressed for most games. If those are the back-ups, start now sacrifcing goats to the football gods to prevent any OL injuries... 4. Recall that Dockery showed great improvement here in Washington last time in his "contract year". In Buffalo, he had a long-term deal and played poorly enough to get cut. If they sign him here, I'd suggest a SHORT term deal. |

Re: Dockery Cut:

I think he lacks the focus and foot speed to play that position. Remember he was the human false start one man away from the QB, what's he going to do out there on an island? We'd be crazy not to make him a top priority in FA. |
