This is unconfirmed.
However, an inside source says a trade will bring Jay Cutler to Washington is almost complete. The leak came roughly about one hour ago. Negotiations between Cutler’s agent, Pat Bowlen, Daniel Snyder, and the Cleveland Browns management have been ongoing for a few days and all sides seem to be happy. The deal would see Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, and Cleveland’s third round pick going to Washington. Jason Campbell and Chris Cooley going to Cleveland and one of Denver’s fifth round picks. Brady Quinn going from Cleveland to Denver, and LaRon Landry from Washington will be going to Denver. We thought that the Bailey-Portis trade was big. "ProFootballTalk.com"
This is also ridiculous. If we traded Landry, Campbell, AND Cooley, the fan base would implode and the locker room would be in bad shape. I can't see this happening, even if value-wise it made sense. |

Yeah, I mean come on. These guys deny crap all the time, even within minutes of signing the guy they have just denied even talking to. Doesn't matter if it is the NFL, NBA, etc. Cerrato would be a total idiot to admit any interest in Cutler at this juncture no matter if they want him or not. Personally the Skins are crazy to think about this, but if they go for it, it better be a straight up trade. |

All this crap sounds like someone is trying to stimulate interest in Cutler to me. All you have to do is say the Skins are involved to get better offers for him.

Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
That Cleveland deal is probably a fraud. According to the DC Examiner article a NFL official is adamant that the Skins(The Danny) do have a hard on for Cutler and are looking for a possible 3 way deal to get him. The source names possibly KC as the 3rd party involved, but it looks like Denver doesn't want picks but players. IF this crap has any validity to it I would think it means Cooley or Landry for Sheffler like the Pro football talk rag talked about. We might have some crazy shit going on in the next few days!!!! Doesn't Cooley have a no trade clause in his deal though?
|
You'd be surprised, I'm surprised, at how many teams want The Colt. Everyone, well a lot of people, think they can make him a star if they could just spend a couple of years developing him.
If you were thinking of dealing Colt, obviously now would not be the time to do it. We have to see how Campbell does this season, no? If Campbell is strong you re-up him and then entertain offers. If not you part ways with Jason and the Brennan era begins. And what's so great about Cutler? Didn't they el foldo at the end of the season? |

Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
That DC Examiner article seemed to indicate Snyder thought JC was timid, etc. Brennan isn't going anywhere if this stuff plays out to be true. Like I said above the same article said the source mentioned KC as a possible 3rd party. KC could use a solid starter in JC. Problem is doesn't Cooley have a no trade clause? That alone would prove the Cleveland story isn't valid and mean Landry or someone else of value is going bye bye.

Denver had 2 different 3 game losing streaks last year, missed the playoffs and Cutler threw 18ints. He's a good QB, but come on. All this sh*t is over the top. I wonder what Campbell's numbers would look like if he played the AFC West twice a year instead of the NFC East. |
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
GTripp,
What do you make of all of this? The Profootballtalk story seems to be too frigging wild to be believeable, but the other link to the DCexaminer seems to corroborate at least half of it, just doesn't have Cleveland in the equation. Sounds like Snyder didn't think Campbell had a big enough cannon or ego. |

I agree, but I think Cutler is more flashy than JC, and probably to be honest has more raw talent. The Danny loves his flash!!!!! |
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
I agree also, and I like JC But Cutler was a Pro Bowler and Campbell seems like he doesn't take enough shots down field (Play Calls Also). Cutler had a good year... if it was JC FOR JC I woudn't have a problem, but this 3team deal crap is crazy! And Don't trust VC He also said we wouldn't be in the market for Haynesworth.

Are you kidding me? No way dude!!!!! I maybe could see us giving Denver a low round pick, but 2 First rounders? Cutler is a hot commmodity because of his potential. Nobody is going to give up 2 first rounders for "potential"!!!!!!! Besides the one article says that Denver wants a straight up trade, no picks. |

The idea of trading Brennan makes me queazy*. I'd prefer to have a better idea of what exactly we would be letting go of. He could be an MVP. He probably isn't but I know I couldn't pull the trigger if it were me running the show. Not right now. *not affiliated with Jaqeuaz Green |

Not sure why the third team would be needed, unless Denver does want a new TE. I am pretty sure Cooley has a no trade clause in his deal, so maybe KC or whoever is going to provide them with that TE. Who knows what will transpire, but it sounds like Snyder wants Cutler. Jason probably will flourish in the AFC West. |

*not affiliated with Jaqeuaz Green
I can't see Brennan in the mix. Why would you trade a starter for a work in progress or more accurately an unknown quantity? Denver wants a starter for a starter, so maybe the Cleveland connection is legit. But I think it would be nuts for Cleveland to get rid of Quinn for Campbell, unless they do have their doubts about him. |
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
What if we had to trade Campbell for Cutler just to trade down for multiple 2nd round picks in this year's draft...would you then consider it?
I'm for a hold on Campbell by the way. It's like the stock market around here with all the speculative trading. We should be long for Campbell for the stability of our team. |
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
Let's just say for a second that this crazy situation happens and we do trade for Cutler, what does this mean for Zorn? Does it mean that Zorn has a year and he's out if things don't work out or does it mean that DS is giving Zorn more time here (i.e. it wouldn't be fair to judge him for a year with a new QB, therefore he's going to be given two years with Cutler).

Quinn's the most dynamic of the bunch, but part of that is because he's played the least.
I was entertained by that trade proposal. A whole lot of picks and players tossed about and at the end of the day, no one has a significantly better or worse QB situation. |
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
I think changing QBs right now would be a big step backwards.
|
Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!
that's the worst trade scenario i've heard.
let's give up two pro-bowl players in their prime to get a prissy QB who's only moderately better than the one we're already got. |
What do the redskins think of Colt.
Well they drafted him didn't they? They love Colt...but they're quite find of Campbell too. But their fondness of Campbell is more like "he's such a good guy, we're really rooting for him" They think they can win with Campbell (unlike Ramsey, for example)...which isn't necessarily the same as Colt, who they think they can win because of (except not for another year or two at least) It's kinda like the Redskins are Zack Morris and Campbell is their good friend Lisa Turtle. They hang out, help each other out with their problems, believe in each other and yeah they kissed once and it felt ok...but Colt Brennan is the brass ring, he's Kelly Kapowski. He's the one they want to take all the way....(gotta stop watching Saved by the Bell reruns in the morning). |

So you would give a Starting NFL QB, 2 and 2 - 1st round picks to gain 7pts in passer rating. wow. Can I sell you some green grass from California, it is MUCH greener than Maryland grass. |

Stupid trade. But riddle me this....
What if (and I mean WHAT IF) this is all being put out there, simply to light a fire under Jason Campbell's butt? What if this is being put out there as an attempt to see if he can step his game up to the next level? It's probably just a rumor...I'm just throwing it out there. I think Campbell will be better with more passing options and a better O-Line. Give him a chance! |

JC better step up or his butt is leaving as is Cerrato's. This is the make or brake year for JC. I would trade for Cutler next year if he was available, but I think he gets traded to Minnesota.

I do, too. Although I'm not sold on Campbell, I think that, now that he has learned Zorn's system, we need to find out if he can be the so-called Franchise QB for this team. Bringing in a new QB who would face the same steep learning curve that JC faced last season would definitely be a step back, at least in the short term. |
