scratch cinemax, i meant starz
and encore i'm glad i get the nfl network on my phone. i would cramp my pants if i lost it |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
So it doesn't look good.
Football fans who subscribe to Comcast extra-cost sports package seem likely to lose one of their favorite viewing choices at 11:59 tonight - the 24-hour NFL Network. The two organizations, which have battled publicly and in court, have not reached a new carriage agreement, and the old one expires. |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
I left Comcast about 5 years ago for Dish Network and have not had any complaints or problems. Best of all, after watching my cable bill go up every few months without an increase in the service I was paying for, it's been great to watch my Dish bill not only stay the same, but occasionally add channels without paying a penny extra. My Dish bill is now cheaper than the cable bill was 5 years ago. If I had stuck with cable, I'd be paying at least $20 more per month right now than my Dish bill.
I even get Comcast Sportsnet on Dish, along with MASN, MASN2, Big10, NFL Network, CBS College Sports network, a ton of ESPNs and a few other sports channels. :D I can still watch Redskins Nation every night and watch Kelli Johnson go to Randy Thomas' house for BBQ grilling lessons on Sportsnite. :D
Yeah, I really like Dish Network. You can't get Sunday ticket like on DTV but I don't have the big bucks for that, anyway. Dish has the best educational channels, ESPNU, and, as you indicate, they actually add channels for free from time to time. |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
Looks like Comcast and NFLNT can't come to an agreement so Comcast is dropping them. Great. =(
I only order it in-season but still I like watching their games. I am slowly thinking of going back to Directv but I need them to place my disk in a diffrent location this time. We will see I truly hate DircTV and their customer service.
I've had GREAT service (incl customer service) from DISH NETWORK. I highly recommend them. They have NFL Network and a ton of sports channels, including Comcast Sportsnet for your Redskins coverage. I actually just added a New York station for $1.50/mo so my wife from New York can watch Yankees games while I'm at work. :D I'd never be a Comcast customer. I have to deal with them at my work, they're overpriced and have the worst customer service. edit: Didn't realize this was an old, dug-up topic I already replied to. :D |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
I have DTV and have been thinking of going with verizon. Everyone I have spoken to loves verizon

I love Verizon FIOS. It costs less than Comcast and you don't have to worry about the weather like you do with DirecTV. |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
That was something that NFL Network made Comcast do. They didn't like the fact that they were giving it away for free.
That was all comcast. They are the only ones who charge extra for it. |

yup, that's my only bitch with Comcast. They try to tell me the Golf channel is just as good!:nono::censored: |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
We do FTA here, which is basically Dish Network, but with the switch to NAGRA 3 coming, I guess it's a race to get that unencrypted. Sigh..

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
I think NFLN and Comcast came to some sort of an agreement last night, right?

In Lancaster, you probably get horrible Eagles coverage on Comcast, right? Get Dish Network and enjoy Skins (and Ravens) coverage! |
Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
your right. like i said, im just looking for an excuse to switch. buster, whats the difference between the dish, and direct t.v?

seems to me now...that they just got us for another month...they won't prorate your bill if the deal doesn't go through. all I saw was a banner and a letter saying they were still working to retain the programming.. Comcast offered me 6 free PPPV movies for being a loyal customer with the letter...wonder if they could add the Ticket to the package as a part of the agreement?.. |

Price-wise, it was within 2 bucks and had a comparable number of channels. Honestly, the way I made the choice was looking over the selection of channels for each at the same rate and Dish had more channels that I liked. Dish does have an awesome selection sports channels. Hopefully, one county over from me, you'd be getting the same ones as me, which means REDSKINS coverage! Look back at my 03-23-2009 post for a list. :) |

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
In Comcast's defense I will say this, the NFL is trying to ripoff Comcast customers. They want $2+ dollars per customer per month. That's insane for a single station with mostly reruns and a few NFL games a year. Definitely not worth it. There's many things to hate about Comcast but losing the NFLN is not one of them.

Re: Comcast to lose NFL Network?
its called we are the N.F.L , and you not. its the same scam comcast has been running for years. now, since the tables are turned, they don't like it

I don't know where you live, but here in MD, Comcast used to have a freaking monopoly and charged (they probably still do) an arm and a leg for their service. Luckily, I've been able to switch to FIOS and have not have to deal with them or have this NFLN problem. |

One of th reasons why they charge and arm and a leg is due to the NFLN. As for Verizon FIOS, well it seems more affordable because it's heavily subsidized Verizon! They're losing money in the hopes of establishing a customer base. Once that happens you can bet your ass they'll charge you just as much as Comcast. No reason you can't enjoy it while the going is good though :cool-smil I will most certainly dump Comcast when FIOS becomes available in my area. |

Well here in MD way before the NFLN, they charged an arm and a leg b/c they were the only game in town, especially if you lived away from Baltimore or DC. They bought out all of the local cable companies, and it was either them or DTV. Now that FIOS became available, they are losing customers left and right. And this will just add to that. |

I fully agree that they've mistreated their customers. They're the only game in town in most places and are at times downright hostile to their customers (me included). Believe me, I have no love for Comcast but I also feel the same way about the NFL/NFLN. |
