Got some tickets today for the August 8th Dave Matthews Band show at Nissan Pavillion. Haven't seen him live in like 6 years. I'm pretty excited.
Saw them a few weeks ago and they are tearing it up this summer. All the new songs kick butt and they seem to be playing with a lot more energy.

Great to hear. I love the new album, so I'm hoping for an awesome show.

I really wish I could see them again this summer. I was trying to make plans for other dates but I just couldn't fit it in.

I'm psyched that it's on a Saturday, too. A Friday evening drive from DC to Nissan Pavillion is a nightmare. And we're down in the seats, so if it rains we won't get soaked like all the folks on the lawn.

I just copped the new Wu album, but haven't listened to it yet. No GZA or Meth on this one.

Anyone heard of ZO2? They're a rock band from Brooklyn with a show called "Z-Rock" on IFC- kinda based on their true story (they played rich peoples' kids b-day parties while trying to become rock stars). Anyway, I just got a few of their albums and they're really talented musicians.

Getting ready to head out to Nissan Pavillion for the Dave Matthews show tonight. The cooler is stocked! I can't wait.

If I mute my TV and open my windows I can hear Incubus playing at Merriweather right now. If this was like 8 years ago I'd probably be there.

Listening to the new Kid Cudi [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Man-Moon-Bonus-Tracks-Explicit/dp/B002O4JAV0/ref=sr_shvl_album_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1253486180&sr=301-4"]Man on the Moon[/ame] album. Haven't enjoyed an album as much as this in a long while.:woot:

Very unique and different. Well worth a listen.

William DuVall will never replace Layne Staley but I think he does a really good job. I figured they'd go a different direction with their music but, I'm surprised by how much they still sound like the original AIC.

There's definitely no replacing Layne. But yeah DuVall does an admirable job without coming off like a Layne wannabe.

Considering Cantrell has always wrote a large part of the music and lyrics I guess you can see why they still have that trademark AIC sound.

Megadeth and Slayer. Their new material has an old school feel to it. I'm going to see them play in Richmond soon.

You're about my age, and I'm going through the same musical changes in taste. Shinedown is a good band. If you're looking for something a bit more pop, The Fray, Maroon Five...O.A.R., all good bands.

The funny thing though, I keep going back and listening to those same 80's bands. As matter of fact, I just went to see Night Ranger and Journey Friday night in Greensboro, NC. The 80's are out there and in full force.

Not a new music selection, but if you are into hip-hop, you should check out Atmosphere. Easily one of my favorite groups from the past 10 years. Great beats, good flow, and conscious lyrics you can understand. Also check out Sweatshop Union for the same reasons.

The new AIC is pretty rockin', I'm actually pleasantly surprised with it.

Also a big fan of the new PJ album.

Long live 90's rock!

I've always repped atmosphere pretty hard. If your into him... Check out brother Ali.

Just picked up the wolfmother album. They are coming to 9:30 pretty soon. Prob going to sell out.

Also ejoying the new pheonix album....

And still loving the Wale "mixtape about nothing". A Seinfeld themed go-go based hip hop album has to be good, so check it out.

Re: Any New Music Selections?

Picked up Alice in Chains new c.d. today and I'm lovin it. I think the reason AIC doesn't sound that bad with William Duvall is because Cantrell is still there doing his thing, and his singing is pretty good too. You can tell Jerry's doing more singing in this one and that's one reason why I really like.

I didn't pick up Pearl Jam's new c.d. today though because the Best Buy I went to was sold out of it when I got there after work. I like that song they've been playing on the radio a lot though, "The Fixer".

I wanna hear Chevelle's new stuff and I'm liking the new Three Days Grace song "Break" as well.

no doubt, he's versatile.. a west coast guy and most west coast producers are pretty dull to me.. worked with east coast guys like M.O.P. and Freeway, bay area guys like keak da sneak, etc.. has a bit of that old school feel without it being a bad thing

I like to go onto Fine Tune.com to get a few songs here and there instead of buying the whole album. So few albums are worth buying these days.
What?!?!??!!? I cannot believe you know them. I went to high school with all of them. I played soccer with the bass player. I knew them at high school parties when they were Johnny Welfare and the Paychecks. My wife actually dated the drummer in middle school. She said his breath was like Alpo. We have pictures to prove it! LOL

We got backstage to Paramore in C-ville in April. I know it's a teenage band, but I like them.
