I don't know about Meredith, but I heard Robinson has a horrendous work ethic. But i still think either one of those two lineman would have been better than Cody Glenn, by far.

i mean, Robinson and Meredith here makes worlds more sense, but I'll have faith.

hey, Cody Glenn has an opportunity to meet Fletcher and McIntosh. I don't really expect him to do much more.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

Dude we drafted Petey Jones from Remember the Titans. Formerly highly regarded RB that was able to make a switch to LB.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

I like this pick more than Henson. Has upside, I think what you see is what you get with Henson, could play some MLB as well. Not expecting him to be a major factor in 2009 though.

Figure we'll see a run on OL and hopefully a RB with our UDFAs

Just more special teams fodder, assuming he even makes the team.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

Waste of picks. complete waste. Hope I'm am dead wrong as I was about the impending Sanchez trade but both Henson and Glenn will amount to nothing more than meaningless names in 2010. I know I'm over-reacting but I'm pissed we passed on 'steals' (Duke Robinson is a baller) and it is the 5th round, not the 1st so we could afford to take a risk even if some consider him to be lazy etc... and we reached on Glenn and Henson, most probably we could have invited on Mon as undrafted FA. Anyway, I would grade our draft as C-, only because I like Brian Orakpo, it should be around an D or F, no 2nd and 4th and we waste what few we have.

Duke Robinson has weight, work ethic, and character issues; if you're grading the team based on the 5th, 6th and 7th round picks you shold stick to your day job.

A lot of teams passed on that "baller" too.

I was a big advocate of Duke back in January..but enough extremely knowledgable people convinced me I was way off on him. Still surprised he fell so far.

I'm still most "upset" about us not getting a good running back (namely Rashad Jennings).

I was a little too. I felt like if Oher and Orakpo were gone and we hadn't lost our minds and traded for Dirty then the best move was gonna be to fall back if possible and take Wells or Moreno in the 15-20 range. Or fall further back and get a Tackle in the 28-40 range. Maybe Betts has a few more miles left on him and he can learn not to fumble. We really need to work him in more consistently and effectively.

The only rationale I can see for not grabbing an RB at any point is that they really like the guy from Denver and the CFL guy (sorry I dont remember their names). If thats the case then so be it but I really thought that a better than average RB could've been had in the later rounds. Oh well

And I didn't necessarily understand the need for two LBs to be drafted, when we added Thomas and are talking about moving Wilson there anyway.

Well I think it's clear we tried to upgrade our depth and special teams. Seems to em that we follow BPA religiously after Rnd. 3.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

C. Glenn sounds like a guy that they really wanted & feared that he would get nabbed before their pick in the 6th. He sounds like a good athlete w/great speed for LB.

I was initially upset w/this pick & the Henson pick considering the OL names available. But as I read about Glenn, I can see how he might be just as much a risk as Duke Robinson. Plus, a LB can play on teams immediately & O linemen can't do much in that area.

Great point about special teams

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

Don't worry Mr. Ruhskins, I am not planning on quitting my job and becoming a scout or whatever it is you are inferring. Yep, I would have preferred us taking Duke Robinson (OG) instead of Henson (LB) and I do consider the 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks as part of the total grade. I might be wrong and totally offbase and I apologise, but there is no need to add in sniping or sarcastic remarks.

LMAO!!! But it could work he does have above average speed from being a RB so going from sideline to sideline shouldn't be a problem. He could just be there to blitz and rush the passer we did lead the league in blitzing last year I think.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

Glenn only played one year at LB, I don't think anyone can really judge his potential based on one year of learning a defensive system. He has great athleticism, the question is really whether he can get down the mental part of the defense. I'm not going to complain about this pick until I see what happens. It's a risky pick, but one that has some significant upside if he works out.

Yeah, I'll take back my comment. Being around all the talent on the defensive side of the ball, he will find a mentor and will excel. I have a feeling he may be the new Ade Jimoh.

Re: Meet Cody Glenn

Here comes an unblemished Homer argument.

When Vinny talked about this selection, he specifically said he talked with the coach. Chances are the Skins already knew what the real reason is. This goes back to my general argument that we spectators rarely know as much as the FO people do. Even if we think we do.

I was scratching my head as soon as we made this pick. Then I went and read the scouting report and kept scratching my head. Now I'm reading this, and I fear I may scratch a hole in my skull.

You don't want your 5th round pick in the news for the wrong reasons just two days after you pick him. Sheesh.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

THE ADE is an honorable man.

(BTW - if we had picked up Duke in the 5th, this might have been one of the best drafts ever. I would have been happy to have picked up Duke at the end of the 1st. I couldn't believe he was still there in the 5th. Does anyone know why he dropped so far so fast?)

They were using the same draft board as the Vinny Cerrato and company. You know the one that had Cody Glen rated ahead of Duke Robinson.

Then we would have been flooded with the "why the F did we pick up this fat and lazy guy with character issues" or "why did we pass up on Jamon Meredith". It's a lose lose situation with us fans.

Don't forget Montgomery was a picked, because a close friend of Greg Blache was his coach. Lots of people said that was a stretch. Well the recommendation trned out to be a steal, in the fifth round.

believe me..i hope like hell he works out..at least he has descent speed and should be able to at least replace K Campbell on teams.... but I just think we coulda got him later given his position change and whatever off field thing he did with the coaches daughter or whatever...

I read that article earlier today and thought the same thing, Vinny has a connection. The guy can obviously run and will probably at the very least be a ST's beast.
