I truly hope he does well with the Redskins. As a Terp alum, it would be great to root for another former Terp in B&G. :woot:

Re: Kevin Barnes might be a beast undercover

Barnes do sounds pretty good so far, hope he can do same thing in NFL.. Although he definitely needs to bulk up to prevent injuries.. I think he will do good at ending of the season or next year..

However I hope this would not mean the ending of Rogers.. I really like him, and hope we will be able to extend him to something similar with Hall's contract.. If we are able to retain Rogers, and Barnes develops then we definitely will have pretty defense for years, assuming we will address LB soon through free agency or draft..

Edit: And what the hell is up with this refreshing the page whenever someone posts?

Barnes will be a legit number one corner if he stays healthy. Bad thing is that's a big if.

I've been having the same problem, well when I use Firefox. It's been a bit annoying.

I think Barnes more likely signals the end of Smoot

Thanks SS, but I sort of already figured it out.. My problem with this is when someone posts, then my page would refresh into a blank white page.. Which means I would have to click on my warpath bookmark to get back to the page..

Well yea, guess I'm stuck with it for a while or something.. Beside, few threads - live feed works fine, as there would be a little box coming up on bottom of screen to let me know that someone posted, but most of time it would go to white blank screen.. It might be due to mozilla firefox, like Ruhskins said..
Ok then, how do you measure the success of a sport pundit then? If the argument is that our FO scouts probably know more than these sports pundits.
You measure the success of sports pundits based on
1. Home many copies of their book sold in the 1st week.
2. The size of their bonus when signing with their employers.

You certainly don't base it on expertise....cowherd fans.

I use FF too with no issues.

Let's not hijack this thread though, if you have technical issues check out the playbook forum.

Drafting Barnes tells us that this is Smoot's last year, and that Barnes will take over the #3 CB next year if not #2 depending on if Rogers re-signs.

It's because you and I are using Firefox. IE doesn't have that problem but it's just so much easier to get to bookmarks through firefox that I don't want to switch back full time.

Re: Kevin Barnes might be a beast undercover

Great info on Barnes. The more I hear about him, the more I cant wait to see him on the field in a Skins uniform. Was really disappointed with Tryon play so far, but hes young still got room to improve, but what I hear about Barnes is may be more of a playmaker. Smoot and Rodgers while not bad seem to drop interceptions and not force fumbles. Hall came in and immediately started picking passes, with another guy like that getting some picks or hitting a guy to put the ball on the ground is the help our offense needs. We got an outstanding secondary coach in Gray to help Barnes adjust and cant wait to see this guy play.

DIRTEE 04-30-2009 07:36 PM

Re: Kevin Barnes might be a beast undercover

I love the addition of Barnes, he's definitely a playmaker and he makes up for the Tryon follie last season. I wouldn't throw Smoot under the bus so soon. Smoot plays injured a lot, when most players wouldn't suit up. I definitely see him being tied as the 3d CB at seasons end. Sidenote, I hope Tryon is able to punt return this season.

I think he's going to fire Smoot up a little bit. I'd love to hear the talk between them. :)

I sure hope so, I like Smoot but he's not same; he lost a step..

The more I learn about Barnes, the more I like him.. I think he definitely has potentials to be a really good CB.. Although he needs to bulk up more, if he's able to, then we would have two physically CBs in Rogers and Barnes.. That is if we will extend Rogers...... That would be totally sweet.

I agree. I think he's going to be a good fit here but like you said, he needs to gain some weight. Hopefully he gains a little muscle in the weight room.

Smoot will be retained beyond his playing days as a Redskin to become our defacto mascot. Basically he'll do what he does now but in a different uniform...jeer and taunt the opposing team, players/coach/staff/fans all included, and generally make an ass of himself on the field. See what I mean...not a lot will change.

If Barnes develops quickly we're in a good spot if we extend Rogers or franchise/trade him for a pick..
If he does turn out to be a head hunter then great. It would be awesome if he does and we go get Taylor Mays next year in the draft to supplement his physical play. Mays has been considered the next S. Taylor at Safety. A head hunter himself. We would be awesome in the secondary to add to our D line strength. When Wynn and Daniels' one year tenured contracts are up, We could move Orakpo to permanent DE to fill the gap then go after O linemen and LB in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Believe it or not we have all of our picks next year. We mayu be able to get compensatory picks also.
Wow draft picks it will be weird to pick in the 1,2,3 etc., p.s Love the Pick

That was a pretty entertaining article. Hopefully Smoot elevates his game w/ Barnes on the roster...let's be honest there hasn't been anyone to "push" Fred at his spot so this could be a good thing overall.

who's mayu? j/k but already thinking of the 2010 draft huh? I kinda hope since he is projected now to go in the top ten that we arent drafting high enough to get him.

Mays would be a good pick; I like Eric Berry as well, but I doubt we will go down that road.. We probably will go for an offense (line?) player..

Yeah, I am sure its all in good fun and camp competition. They will push each other and maybe we will finally have a solid, reliable nickel/dime tandem

Good article. I think for the first time Smoot feels threatned by Barnes and wants to downplay his talents, because he knows he's lost a step. This should be an interesting battle to watch during training camp. I think Barnes has the ability to be a good CB, he just needs to gain some weight and add muscle.
