Re: Movies that make you cry?
First movie that brought me to tears was Old Yeller when I was just a wee lad. These days, anything where something bad happens to kids. All I can think about is my own kids having something bad happen to them and it chokes me up.

Well said. 100% agree. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
i didn't read all the posts so forgive me if i'm rehashing a movie but for some reason, every time i watch the movie click i get a little teary eyed right there near the end when old, adam sandler falls to the ground in the pouring down rain as he's yelling for his son and then has a few last words with his son and ex-wife as he's dieing.
First movie that brought me to tears was Old Yeller when I was just a wee lad.
When I was a kid we got a yellow lab from a rescue group. About a week later my 5th grade class watched that movie. I don't think I'd ever heard about it but I remember that at first I was really excited because Yeller looked just like our new dog. And then we got to the end of the movie...

The line that gets me the most is when he turns to his wife at the grave site and says, "Tell me I'm a good man." Sniffle, snort, sniffle... |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
Rudy, no matter how many times I watch it will always make me cry at the end. I love that movie because it envokes so much emotion form me. I'm welling up right now thinking of him getting into the game and getting that sack.
...and his Dad is there and all and the crowd is going insane...*cough*...No, it's my allergies, I'm not crying. ...Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!...*cough* |

I agree I have 2 girls and 1 son, and just about any movie that, in my mind, i replace the child with one of my 3 and think, "Oh, my God, what if that happened to ..." Yeah that gets me going... |

Good movie for sure. I definitely shed a tear on that one. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
I never cry in movies...
however, sometimes my eyes sweat. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
I actually quite frequently get pulled at the heart strings during movies but not cry. Even in cheesy chick flicks. But some documentaries have made me near cry with some of the crap that people have to deal with. It is out of control.
But I guess a lot of the motivational movies can do that too. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
I've never cried but I've been close!
The Notebook almost got me. I don't know if it's because the ending was sad or if it's because I was on a date and I actually thought I was going to get some that night. Wait, does 2 girls 1 cup count? I cried when I saw that. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
My dad cried at the end of Philadelphia.
|
Re: Movies that make you cry?
Million Dollar Baby was also pretty sad.

[B] Wait, does 2 girls 1 cup count? (I said 20 seconds because the video clip didn't last longer than that before I was standing up and walking towards the toilet in anticipation of possible vomit). |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
every time i see the ending of the 1980 us hockey team beating ussr I know its not a movie but that gets me every time

Re: Movies that make you cry?
How about Aragon at the end of Return of the King. "A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"
The Wrestler was another recent one that got me, as was Gran Torino. |

Toy Story when Buzz Lightyear realizes he's just a toy
Toy Story II when the teenage girl puts her favorite cowboy doll in the card board box, and the doll is all happy thinking that the girl is going to take the doll on some kind of play adventure. But in reality the girl just gives the doll up because she's just all grown up now. Holy crap, my eyes are starting to "sweat" now. My dog Skip. When the boy goes away to college, and Skip being no longer a young vibrant dog tries to get on the boys bed to lay down. Another must see family movie. |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet, but it's the ultimate tear jerker for any man who ever played catch with his father (which is most men in America)...
Field of Dreams Probably cried harder at that movie than any other in my life. And a classic movie too, by the way. |

A dog named Skip. When the boy goes away to college, and Skip being no longer a young vibrant dog tries to get on the boys bed to lay down. Another must see family movie.
That's also pretty funny only for 2 reasons: 1. The entire time the girl cowboy has a crazy smile on her face. 2. They just left it like that. Who abandons a doll? Or did they donate it? |
Re: Movies that make you cry?
Watching Brother Bear w/ my son i was welling up a little too. Damn sad cartoons.

Re: Movies that make you cry?
Not a movie, but does anyone else watch Rescue Me?
I think it was the last episode of season 2 when Tommy's son got hit by a drunk driver. That episode and the 3rd season premier had me damn close to losing it. |
