While I think the image is hilarious and I don't think it's meant to be intentionally insulting to Christians, I also think you guys are a little overzealous with the bashing of skinsnut.

Regardless whether or not you share his beliefs, as a fellow Skins fan and human being the correct response was to point out the humor in the image and explain why it's NOT meant to be anti-Christian (which was done), but that's where it should have stopped. All the name calling is pretty bush league, IMO. Let's leave the personal attacks out, especially when they're targeting our brothers of the burgundy and gold.

Now, Philthy/G-Strings/Dallass fans... that's another story. ;)

In my opinion, you don't get more bush league than finding a way to take offense to a joke that EVERYONE ELSE in the thread thought was funny, and in no way offensive.

I'm all for whatever makes these message boards better. Having someone here come in and douche up an otherwise fun thread will be met with harsh derision. That's what happens when you act like a huge pussy.

Eh, I guess. It would be one thing if he was laying into all of you for finding it humorous. He just said it bothered him, an effort was made to explain to him why it wasn't meant to be offensive, and then the name calling started.

Like I said, I don't agree with the dude's viewpoint, agree to disagree, but why trash the dude over his religious beliefs? Doing that amounts to perpetuating the same type of behavior you're chiding him for.

I would also like to remind everyone who wants to have a say in this particular thread that we should respect every single person no matter what they believe in.

Just keep that in mind when the discussion turns towards dogma, religion etc. in a football related area of this forum. Things seem to be getting a bit ugly and there is no reason for it at all.

Well, since I was the one who came up with the nickname I suppose I should speak...from high above the mountaintop as I look down upon my children of this Earth (hold on let me put down these two stone tablets so I can focus)...but seriously

When I came up with the nickname, my first thought was someone is going to be offended by this I'm sure. But then I thought, why should they be. For one thing, I'm a religious (fairly religious) Christian and I didn't find it offensive. Plus, as others have said it has nothing to do with Jesus or religion, or what have you. It's about people's strong beliefs and faith, if you will, in Colt Brennan. And it's a play on the term given to Michael Jordan back in the day...Black Jesus.

Now we probably don't need to be going around calling skinsnut a moron or an idiot or whatever for his opinion. By the same token Nut, writing in big bold letters isn't going to do you any good either. And, again, I think you really misunderstood the intent of the nickname. Trust me, I'm sensitive to religious topics but this isn't one of them.

i am a christian. i accepted jesus at the age of 22 (i'm 35 now) and while i am not personally offended by this pineapple jesus stuff (i realize people are just joking around) i do see why some could be offended. just besause someone says they're offended shouldn't be a reason to bash them the way some of you have done. can't you just say "sorry your offended" then just move on.

I was offended at the Michael Jordon Black Jesus references too by the way....I never said anything then...but to up the ante and throw a crown of thorns on it was a bit too much for me....especially if someone is suggesting making a profit by it by selling t-shirts too.

I don't expect anyone to neccessarily agree with me, I was expecting a more respectful response...not for my sake, for I know how some of you feel about me now...but for the name of Jesus itself.

As for Schneed being Schneed. Honestly, I think Schneed could have and should have been more respectful. And I think the rest of the board has to stop encouraging him to be an asshole whenever he pleases. That's really on the mods I think.

Not sure what type of reaction you were expecting skinsnut, you came in here guns blazing demanding the thread be closed.

If you had opened the debate in a calm and respectful manner, the following discussion may have followed suit. Instead you kicked the door in and to hear that you are surprised by the reactions is somewhat comical.

By the way we're not profiting at all from the shirts. We never have, not when we sold Sean Taylor tribute shirts or anything else.

The intent of all of this was to just have a little fun. If you disagree and don't want to participate that's fine. But we're not closing any threads and not changing any images.

Remember this was an issue that just a few of you got really heated about. It's a very small sample size to base any kind of generic generalizations about what people care about.

This board is filled with a great wide range of ideals and opinions.

Anytime the lines of respect gets crossed around here there are many who will call it out.

A ten year old could read this thread and have a pretty good idea which posts crossed the line.

I agree. As for Schneed being Schneed, I believe others have been banned for just being themselves when being themselves became inappropriate. I've probably caught a couple of breaks from the administrator myself so I'm not going to complain. Skinsnut has a right to his opinion, but he does not control this board. Still, I don't understand the level of anger being expressed toward him. Personally, some of the idiotic "insights" of what's wrong with the Redskins has offended me more and been more deserving of "wrath" than anything Skinsnut has said. I personally have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and look at "Pineapple Je5us" as more of a comment on Colt Brennan and his faithful followers who believe he is the salvation of this franchise than as disrespect to Jesus Christ. I think you are entitled to your opinion, however you did come here guns blazing demanding that the entire world be changed just for you, without even thinking about the context in which this joke was made. As a Christian, I don't think this joke was made with the intent to offend those of us who believe in Jesus, nor was it made with the intent to offend or attack anyone's beliefs.

I do believe some people here got way out of hand in responding to you, and should have been a bit more respectful. But then again, we have to remember how serious things are not taken over the internet. I hope this is a learning moment for everyone and we can move on to talk about our team.
