Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
How did a thread about Smoot making a crazy play on a WR in training camp turn into a Smoot bashing session?
Yeah, that was my first reaction too. He isn't close to being the best corner on the team, but he's worth given some due. He was part of the secondary last year that had to play well to overcome a lack of pass rushing from the redskins dline. |

Seems that no player or coach is immune, sooner or later they will take their lashes from the fans. |
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
I don't understand some of the negativity directed at a couple of veteran redskins players recently. First a lot of redskins fans on here turn on Sellers for asking for more deserving money and a perceived lack of effort during practice warmups. And now Smoot for his play last year.
These are 2 guys who are role players on the team because of their positions, but put in some work and heart into their play. And it sucks, if you can't get any love from your fans that is supposed to support your team. I can be one of the first to be critical of a redskins player who doesn't contribute; these guys aren't those players. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend. |

Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
I've always liked Smoot's personality and clubhouse antics, but he is definately not a premier corner in this league. He will make the team though, but I doubt he will be that big of a contribution.
also, if you guys could rally up and vote for my dog I know it's kind of lame but my wife is trying to get me to help. It doesn't take long. Great looking dog. Take him to the beach! |
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
Our d-line is going to help the secondary and Brother O"Dell, Pass the Biscuits, Pappy O'Daniels gets 3 picks this year.
|
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
I expect our pass rush to vastly improve thus improving our secondary and as a result the turnovers. HTTR

Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
Part of why Smoot is feeling the pressure has as much to do with the emergence of what could turn out to be some pretty solid young draft picks in Tryon and Barnes. Isn't that what we've been clamoring for? Making solid draft picks to push our fading veterans? This isn't necessarily a bad thing we got going on here

I thought we had 53 pro-bowlers ??? I guess we will just have to settle for holding the G-Men to 3 fg's opening game without a roster full of HOF's :) |
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
I think Smoot will be our best corner this year.
I just don't trust DHall to be consistent. He is a crybaby that needs things to go his way for him to excel. Rogers has the best cover skills but can't make a play when the ball is in the air.
Smoot our best corner :laughing2, that must be some good stuff you smoking ..puff puff give :cool-smil |
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
I'll say this about Smoot, the guy gives his all and plays hurt. His better days might be behind him, but he can still be a quality #3 or #4 corner.
My thoughts exactly! The pass rush has always been bad for our DB's, hopefully this year is the turning point. |

That is what I thought but apparently Torrence, Barnes, Tryon, and Ade Jimoh are head and shoulders above him. In fact he shouldn't even be in the league... |

I forgot Doug Dutch and Byron Westbrook as well. Literally laughing out loud... |

right you are, and with a better d-line all our c-backs should have a better year. |
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
Did you see Smoot working at safety at the scrimmage?
|
Re: Smoot tried to decapitate DJ hackett
is that a question, or statement?

Agreed.. and with the rush that we may have he might start to look like a solid 3 |

So, your saying that you think Smoot will make the team? |
